Mariners recalled RHP Blake Beavan from Triple-A Tacoma.

Beavan will start on Tuesday against the Rangers. The 25-year-old right-hander owns a 4.61 career ERA at the major league level and is expected to make just the one start before Taijuan Walker (shoulder) rejoins the rotation.

Yadier Molina was a late scratch from Friday's lineup due to right ankle discomfort.

It's unclear when the ankle began bothering Molina, who had a day off Thursday. Consider him day-to-day. Carson Kelly has taken Molina's spot behind the plate in what will be his first start in the majors this season.

Phillies activated INF/OF Howie Kendrick from the 10-day disabled list.

Kendrick played just one rehab game and is feeling well enough to rejoin the big league roster. He's missed the last three-plus weeks with a strained left hamstring. The Phillies will be auditioning Kendrick for a trade before the end of the month.

Mariners acquired LHP Marco Gonzales from the Cardinals in exchange for OF Tyler O'Neill.

A former first-round pick, Gonzales has been excellent in his first season back from Tommy John surgery, posting a 2.78 ERA and 64/17 K/BB ratio over 74 1/3 innings in the minors. The left-hander is a high-floor, low-ceiling type player who should be a solid mid- to back-end of the rotation option for the Mariners. It shouldn't be long before he gets a shot for them in the majors.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Twins' trade for Jaime Garcia could fall through.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported Thursday that the two sides had reached an agreement on a trade, but there appears to be a snag. Garcia has a long history of injury issues, especially involving his pitching shoulder, so it's possible a physical issue might be the concern. Garcia is currently still penciled in to start for the Braves on Friday against the Dodgers, but Aaron Blair is in Los Angeles and will fill in if the deal goes through.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Brewers have been "aggressive" in trade talks for Justin Wilson.

Other teams have been as well, of course, with Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reporting earlier this week that 10-12 clubs were in on the left-handed reliever. Wilson seems likelier to set up than close wherever he winds up, and that would be the case in Milwaukee.

Kris Bryant (finger) could miss the entire weekend series against the Cardinals.

X-rays on Bryant's left pinkie came back clean after he was injured on a head-first slide Wednesday, but he's not feeling 100 percent. He's been ruled out through Saturday and might sit out Sunday, as well. Javy Baez is at third base Friday, and Tommy La Stella is also a candidate to pick up starts.

Cardinals recalled C Carson Kelly from Triple-A Memphis.

Joe Schwarz of TheIntrepidSTL.com was first to report on Kelly's promotion. The Cards have designated the .155/.277/.197-hitting Eric Fryer for assignment. Considered by most to be the top catching prospect in the game, Kelly has batted .283/.375/.459 with 10 homers and 41 RBI this season at Memphis. As intriguing a prospect as Kelly is, though, he's not going to have fantasy value while playing behind Yadier Molina.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Blue Jays "have gotten some feelers" on Jose Bautista.

There are some hurdles to a potential trade, though, the first of which is that Bautista is hitting a disappointing .227/.340/.402 with 16 home runs this season and just .197/.312/.338 since June 1. He also has 10-and-5 rights and thus can veto any deal. However, while the Jays no doubt would have to pick up a chunk of what remains of his $18 million salary for this season to make a trade work, some contender might think it's worth taking a shot that Bautista can slug for a couple months for them. It shouldn't cost too much to acquire him.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Indians have expressed interest in Asdrubal Cabrera.

It sounds like he could be more of a fallback option if they're not able to work out a trade for a marquee player. Cabrera, of course, began his career with the Indians and would offer them some versatility. The 31-year-old impending free agent has batted .250/.333/.398 with nine homers in 70 games this season.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Cubs have inquired with the Rangers on the availability of Yu Darvish.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports previously reported that the Rangers were trying to gauge interest in Darvish, and it appears the Cubs are one of the first teams to have checked in. It could just be due diligence, although the Cubs have been connected to other starters, as well, even after acquiring Jose Quintana, so it appears they're interested in further upgrading their rotation.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Giants are hoping to finalize a contract with Pablo Sandoval on Friday.

Heyman says it's "still the expectation" that Sandoval will sign with the Giants, but he adds that the Royals and other teams have also shown interest. It will be a minor league deal for Sandoval, who was released by the Red Sox with $49 million left on his contract after hitting just .237/.286/.360 over parts of three seasons.
