Blue Jays purchased the contract of RHP Marcus Stroman from Triple-A Buffalo.

Stroman is going to pitch out of the bullpen initially, but the Blue Jays will likely find a rotation spot for him soon. The 23-year-old right-hander had an outstanding 1.69 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 36/7 K/BB ratio in 26 2/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level. Baseball Prospectus ranked him a Top 30 prospect over the winter. Stash him now in standard fantasy leagues.

Greg Bird (ankle) could return Saturday or Sunday, per Yankees manager Aaron Boone.

Bird has batted just .192 over 35 plate appearances on his minor league rehab assignment, but he does have two home runs and nine walks for an .823 OPS. The 25-year-old is worth stashing right now in fantasy leagues that allow for daily lineup changes. He'll carry big-time power potential with the Yankees, even if he platoons at first base.
May 22 - 7:10 PM

Mariners manager Scott Servais said he doesn't expect Dee Gordon (toe) to be out much longer than 10 days.

Gordon was placed on the disabled list Tuesday afternoon after being diagnosed with a fracture in his right big toe, but it's a minor fracture and so this won't be too long of an absence. That's great news, as the 30-year-old speedster has batted .304 with 16 stolen bases and 25 runs scored in 45 games this season for Seattle. He recently moved back to second base (from center field) following the announcement of Robinson Cano's 80-game drug suspension.
May 22 - 7:05 PM

Jose Bautista is starting in left field and batting fifth for the Mets on Tuesday night against the Marlins.

Bautista caught a flight to New York this afternoon and officially signed his one-year major league contract with the Mets upon his arrival at Citi Field. The 37-year-old hit two home runs in 12 games with the Braves before they released him on Sunday, but he also had a poor .143/.250/.343 overall batting line. This version of Joey Bats is not worth consideration in standard mixed fantasy leagues.
May 22 - 6:53 PM

Dodgers recalled RHP Brock Stewart from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Stewart is starting for the Dodgers on Tuesday night against the Rockies and could get a few more turns with Rich Hill nursing another blister. Stewart has posted a 2.08 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings (five starts) this season at Triple-A and a 3.18 ERA in 5 2/3 innings of relief at the MLB level. The 26-year-old right-hander has some fantasy streaming appeal.
May 22 - 6:31 PM

Nelson Cruz (elbow) remains out of the Mariners' starting lineup Tuesday against the Athletics.

Cruz took a pitch off his elbow on Saturday and hasn't played since, but the Mariners are optimistic the veteran slugger can avoid the disabled list. Daniel Vogelbach is starting at designated hitter and batting sixth Tuesday night against A's right-hander Trevor Cahill.
May 22 - 5:59 PM

Ryan Braun (back) went through a full pregame workout on Monday and will do the same Tuesday.

If everything continues to go smoothly, Braun could be activated from the 10-day disabled list when first eligible on Thursday. He's been out since May 14 with a middle-back injury. The veteran outfielder was batting .222/.268/.413 with five home runs and four stolen bases through 37 games this season.
May 22 - 5:45 PM

Jeimer Candelario (wrist) is set to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Toledo.

He's expected to play 2-3 games on the farm before rejoining the Tigers this weekend. Candelario landed on the disabled list May 14 due to tendinitis in his left wrist. The 24-year-old third baseman was batting .272/.359/.497 with five home runs and 16 RBI through 37 games this season with Detroit.
May 22 - 5:37 PM

Elvis Andrus (elbow) has been cleared to swing a bat.

Andrus is currently on the 60-day disabled list with an olecranon fracture in his right elbow -- an injury he suffered back in mid-April. If all goes smoothly with his rehab activities, he could return to the Rangers' active roster around the middle of June. The 29-year-old shortstop was batting .327/.426/.500 through his first 61 plate appearances this season. Jurickson Profar has been filling in at short for Texas.
May 22 - 5:17 PM

Diamondbacks placed OF Steven Souza on the 10-day disabled list with a right pectoral strain.

It's the same injury that cost Souza the first five weeks of the season, and this could very well be another extended absence. Key injuries continue to pile up for the Diamondbacks, who have recalled outfielder Socrates Brito in a corresponding 25-man roster move.
May 22 - 4:19 PM

Rays manager Kevin Cash noted Tuesday that Willy Adames will only be up for 2-3 days.

Adames is simply filling in for Joey Wendle, who was placed on the paternity leave list Tuesday. Adames is a big-time talent and he will start at shortstop and bat fifth Tuesday against the Red Sox, but he's probably not worth serious consideration in standard redraft leagues quite yet.
May 22 - 4:17 PM

Madison Bumgarner (finger) threw a successful simulated game on Tuesday.

As long as he responds well to the workout, the ace left-hander should be cleared to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Sacramento. He's expected to make around three rehab starts before joining the Giants' rotation around the middle of June. Bumgarner has been out all year with a fractured left pinkie.
