Billy Hamilton (fingers) is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Red Sox.

Hamilton has now missed four straight starts due to a sprain of the third and fourth knuckle on his left hand. There was some speculation that he'd be ready to go after Monday's scheduled off-day, but he apparently needs more time. Skip Schumaker will make the start in center field Tuesday.

Hanley Ramirez was removed from Friday's game against the Angels due to soreness in his left hand.

Ramirez was drilled by a pitch there earlier in the ballgame. The fact that the score was 11-3 at the time may have also played a role in his early departure. He should be considered day-to-day.
May 22 - 9:34 PM

Wily Peralta was removed from Friday's start against the Braves after just four innings due to tightness in his left side.

He departed with a 10-0 lead, so to not stick around for another inning to earn the victory, so the team was clearly concerned about the issue. The Brewers should have an update on his status and potential timetable for his return shortly.
May 22 - 9:23 PM

Avisail Garcia was scratched from the White Sox starting lineup on Friday due to inflammation in his right knee.

The knee has been a constant issue for Garcia in recent weeks and has caused him to miss several games along the way. J.B. Shuck will start in his place on Friday and bat seventh against Phil Hughes and the Twins.
May 22 - 6:54 PM

Oswaldo Arcia (hip) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester on Sunday.

He shouldn't need more than a few games before being activated. Arcia is still feeling some discomfort in his right hip when he throws, so he's likely slated for designated hitter duty initially upon his activation from the disabled list.
May 22 - 5:27 PM

Devon Travis (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on June 1 when first eligible.

Travis was placed on the DL on Thursday after battling a left shoulder injury for a few days. It's a minor ailment, though, as he's been given a cortisone shot and should resume full workouts before long. The rookie had been scuffling at the dish of late before the DL move, batting just .162/.205/.243 over his previous 10 games.
May 22 - 5:07 PM

Danny Duffy's (shoulder) next scheduled start has been pushed back from Saturday to Tuesday.

Duffy is dealing with some stiffness in his pitching shoulder, which could at least partly explain his erratic performance of late. It doesn't appear to be something the Royals are overly concerned with since they're merely pushing him back a few days, but anytime the shoulder is involved there's some worry. Edinson Volquez and Yordano Ventura will move up a day but will be on regular rest.
May 22 - 4:56 PM

Dillon Gee (groin) will rejoin the Mets on Sunday in Pittsburgh.

Manager Terry Collins indicated that Gee will rejoin the rotation but also that Noah Syndergaard will stick around, so it sounds like the club is poised to go with a six-man rotation at least for a while. Gee posted a 3.86 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over five starts before going on the disabled list earlier this month with a groin injury.
May 22 - 4:51 PM

Charlie Morton (hip) will be activated from the disabled list to start on Monday against the Marlins.

Morton has been healthy for a while, but the Pirates wanted him to work on his mechanics as he made his way back from hip surgery. He appears to have accomplished that with a 1.33 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 20 1/3 innings during a rehab assignment. Vance Worley has been moved to the Pirates' bullpen.
May 22 - 4:35 PM

Pablo Sandoval (knee) remained out of the Red Sox' lineup Friday.

Sandoval remains available to pinch hit, but his left knee remains too sore when making throws. He hopes to return to the lineup at some point this weekend. Brock Holt is at third base Friday.
May 22 - 4:29 PM

Tanner Roark is expected to start either on Monday or Tuesday against the Cubs.

With Doug Fister (elbow) out indefinitely, it appears the Nationals are ready to move Roark back into the rotation. He hasn't pitched in five days, but he faced hitters on Friday and is expected to be able to get to 70 pitches during his start. The owner of a career 2.70 ERA over 36 starts, Roark should be scooped up in fantasy leagues where he remains unowned.
May 22 - 4:25 PM

Justin Verlander (triceps) will throw a simulated game on Tuesday.

If that goes well, he should then be cleared to begin a rehab assignment. Verlander has been out all season with a strained right triceps but has progressed nicely the last couple weeks after resuming a throwing program. Still, he probably won't be activated until mid-June even in a best-case scenario.
