Carlos Gomez (hamstring) is back in the Brewers' lineup Wednesday night versus the Diamondbacks.

Gomez sat out Monday and Tuesday with a sore left hamstring. It was never a major concern for the star center fielder, who's batting .313/.379/.547 on the season.

Albert Pujols hit his 534th career home run, tying him with Jimmie Foxx for 17th all-time, but the Angels lost to the Rays on Tuesday.

Pujols finished 1-for-4. His solo home run in the fourth inning off of Chris Archer accounted for the Angels' only run of the evening. Pujols' next target after Foxx is Mickey Mantle at 536, then Mike Schmidt at 548. The veteran has 14 home runs total on the year with 27 RBI and a .254/.303/.508 batting line.

Chris Archer was dominant again in a win on Tuesday, striking out 15 batters and allowing only one run over eight innings against the Angels.

There may not be a hotter pitcher going right now than Archer. He struck out 12 in eight shutout frames a week ago against the Mariners and hasn't allowed more than one run in each of his last four starts. He scattered six Angel hits while walking zero in the effort, lowering his ERA to 2.01 with a 0.96 WHIP and a 97/20 K/BB ratio in 76 innings. Archer will get another crack at the Mariners in his next start, which will come in Seattle.

Brandon Moss finished 3-for-4 with a solo home run as the Indians edged the Royals 2-1 on Tuesday.

Moss hit the solo homer off Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie, his ninth home run of the year. Moss ended up with three of the teams' combined 11 hits in the game. He's been on fire in recent days, collecting eight hits in his last 14 at-bats to raise his overall line to .251/.319/.479.
Jun 3 - 12:37 AM

Alex Guerrero pinch-hit and blasted a two-strike, two-out grand slam in the ninth inning to erase a three-run deficit as the Dodgers took down the Rockies in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

It's hard to come up any bigger than that. Though it is no surprise coming from Guerrero, as he has been hitting all season long. The salami was his 10th homer of the season. The 28-year-old also has 25 RBI and a .296/.327/.684 triple-slash line in 100 plate appearances.
Jun 3 - 12:06 AM

Evan Gattis went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the Astros' 6-4 victory on Tuesday.

Gattis blasted a three-run shot off Orioles starter Mike Wright in the third inning, his 12th home run of the season. The designated hitter is sixth in the AL in home runs and seventh in the league with 36 RBI. After a slow start, Gattis has proven to be what the Astros hoped they were getting when they traded for him this past winter.
Jun 3 - 12:04 AM

Lance Lynn threw 7 2/3 scoreless innings and the Cardinals shut out the Brewers 1-0 on Tuesday.

Lynn scattered five hits and a walk in the effort. The win was his first in three starts, pulling his record to an even 4-4 overall. The right-hander has a 3.03 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 72/22 K/BB ratio over 78 1/3 innings of work this year. Lynn will take on the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman revealed Tuesday that Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) is tentatively 3-4 weeks away from a return.

Ellsbury has already been on the shelf for two weeks and evidently hasn't made much progress with his right knee sprain. The outfielder has yet to resume baseball activities and it's not known when he might be cleared to do so. Chris Young has been the biggest beneficiary of extra at-bats while Ellsbury has been sidelined.

An MRI on J.J. Hardy's left side came back negative.

The worry was that he might have a strained oblique, but that's not the case. Hardy is considered day-to-day for the time being.
Jun 2 - 11:10 PM

Joey Gallo homered and finished 3-for-4 with four RBI in the Rangers' 15-2 trouncing of the White Sox on Tuesday.

Making his much-anticipated debut, Gallo didn't disappoint. After coming through with a two-run single in the first inning, Gallo displayed his prodigious power with a two-run home run in the third. He'll strike out a lot, but the 21-year-old also has exciting power that makes him fantasy relevant for however long he's in the majors.

Darin Ruf pinch-hit in the ninth inning and delivered a walk-off RBI single to right field, sending the Phillies to a win over the Reds on Tuesday.

Odubel Herrera led off the inning with a double and was moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Carlos Ruiz. Manager Bryan Price opted to have lefty Tony Cingrani pitch to Ruf rather than walk him to face Ben Revere, and Ruf made him pay. He has not been much of a force at the plate this season, batting .225/.276/.393 with three home runs and 10 RBI, but even if he were, the Phillies' crowded outfield situation leaves him on the bench more often than not anyway.
Jun 2 - 10:33 PM

Marlon Byrd has been diagnosed with a fractured right wrist.

Byrd suffered the break when he was hit by a Sean O'Sullivan offering during Tuesday's game. It's not clear at this point how long he'll be sidelined, but more is expected to be known after he re-evaluated Wednesday. Brennan Boesch and Skip Schumaker figures to handle left field while Byrd is on the shelf.
