Wednesday's game between the Angels and Indians has been postponed due to storms in Cleveland.

No makeup date has been announced. Justin Masterson was scheduled to take the mound for the host Indians and C.J. Wilson was on tap for the visiting Angels. Those two pitchers will now face off on Thursday afternoon.

Miguel Cabrera is expected to be sidelined for six weeks with a grade 3 left calf strain.

The Tigers had hoped that he would be ready to return shortly after the All-Star break, but it appears that the All-Star slugger will be on the shelf until late August. It will be interesting to see if the Tigers look to acquire a bat to replace Cabrera in the lineup, or if his untimely injury will force Dave Dombrowski to become a seller at the trade deadline.

Tigers placed 1B Miguel Cabrera on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left calf.

It's the first time in Cabrera's career that he has been on the disabled list. This is a major blow to the Tigers and to fantasy owners, as the All-Star slugger was hitting an absurd .350/.456/.578 with 15 homers and 54 RBI on the season. The hope is that he will be able to return immediately after the All-Star break. In a corresponding move, Jefry Marte was recalled from Triple-A Toledo.

Jedd Gyorko hit a game-tying homer in the seventh inning and a go-ahead RBI single in the ninth to help lead the Padres to a 2-1 win over the Cardinals on Friday.

Gyorko was just called up on June 30 to help fill in for the injured Cory Spangenberg (knee). He showed his worth on Friday when he homered off of the ever-dominant Michael Wacha in the seventh inning to tie the game at 1-1. He then helped ensure things wouldn't move to extras when he singled home Yangervis Solarte in the ninth inning to put the Padres up 2-1. Gyorko hit .283/.368/.500 with four home runs in 15 games for Triple-A El Paso after being sent down in early June and should see his share of playing time in the near future, though there's little to love on the fantasy front here.
Jul 4 - 1:21 AM

Michael Wacha continued to throw like one of the best pitchers in baseball on Friday, holding the Padres to just one run over seven innings in a 2-1 loss.

Wacha struck out six and walked just one. Only a Jedd Gyorko solo homer in the seventh inning prevented Wacha from the shutout. It also prevented him from picking up his 11th win of the year, as the homer tied the game at 1-1. With a 2.66 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 10-3 record, he's a near lock for the All-Star Game and should be in the Cy Young discussion at the end of the season assuming he stays healthy.
Jul 4 - 12:58 AM

Carlos Correa went 3-for-6 with a solo home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 12-8, 10-inning win over the Red Sox.

Correa's homer off Craig Breslow in the eighth inning was the rookie phenom's sixth of the season and his RBI single in the 10th snapped an 8-8 tie. The 20-year-old shortstop has lived up to the hype since his call-up and is currently slashing .300/.320/.570 with six homers and 17 RBI. There are bound to be bumps in the road as major league pitchers make adjustments, but Correa's career is off to a fantastic start.
Jul 4 - 12:17 AM

Brian McCann belted a walkoff three-run home run in the 11th inning on Friday, propelling the Yankees to a 7-5 come-from-behind victory against the Rays.

The Yankees were on the ropes a couple of times in the ballgame but never stopped fighting. They trailed 3-0 heading into the eighth inning where Mark Teixeira connected on a three-run homer to tie the game and force extra innings, then trailed 5-3 in the 11th before McCann's heroic blast against Steve Geltz. It was the veteran backstop's lone hit in five at-bats on the night and he also drew a walk. He has been one of the best offensive catchers in the league this season, slashing a healthy .264/.333/.477 with 13 long balls and 52 RBI.
Jul 3 - 11:55 PM

Carlos Gomez launched a grand slam and finished with five RBI to help down the Reds by a 12-1 score on Friday.

Gomez stepped up with the bases loaded and the Brewers up 5-0 in the seventh inning. He promptly unloaded on a Carlos Contreras offering for a grand slam to vanquish any vague hopes of a Reds comeback. In addition to the big slam, Gomez also chipped in with an RBI single to finish 3-for-5 with five total RBI. Overall, he's hitting .271/.314/.427 with six homers, 31 RBI and 36 runs scored. Plus seven steals, though he's also been caught four times.
Jul 3 - 11:47 PM

Rangers designated RHP Neftali Feliz for assignment.

The Rangers needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Matt Harrison who is returning from the disabled list on Saturday, but it seems like Feliz is an odd choice after he fired a pair of scoreless innings on Friday. The 27-year-old should generate interest on waivers.
Jul 3 - 11:39 PM

Erick Aybar had a terrific night at the plate in Friday's 8-2 victory over the Rangers, going 5-for-5 with a double and two RBI.

He also scored a pair of runs in the contest. Aybar capped off the Halos' six-run uprising in the second inning with a two-run single. He has been a very solid and stable source of fantasy production at the shortstop position this season, slashing .274/.315/.336 with 25 RBI.
Jul 3 - 11:30 PM

Garrett Richards was dominant in Friday's victory over the Rangers, allowing just one run on six hits over 7 2/3 innings of work.

The right-hander punched out six on the night while issuing just one walk. The only blemish on his evening was an RBI single by Adrian Beltre in the sixth inning. Now 9-5 on the season, Richards sports a terrific 3.35 ERA and 74/34 K/BB ratio over 94 innings. He'll look to carry over this strong effort when he squares off against the Mariners in Seattle on Thursday.
Jul 3 - 11:27 PM

Mike Fiers pitched a superb game against the Reds on Friday, hurling seven innings of shutout ball in the 12-1 win.

Fiers struck out only two, but he counteracted his lack of strikeouts by limiting the Reds to just three hits while walking only one. The strong start comes on the heels of a seven-inning, one-run performance against the Twins. Pitching for a bad Brewers team, Fiers has quietly posted a respectable 3.87 ERA, though the 1.42 WHIP is on the high side. A home start against the Braves is up next.
