Brandon Moss (ankle) is back in Monday's lineup against the Giants.

Moss left Friday's game with a sprained left ankle, but an MRI ruled out any structural damage. He'll be eased back into action Monday as the DH.

Hanley Ramirez is day-to-day with a sore left knee.

Ramirez was hit by a pitch Sunday and that's the reason he was scratched from Monday's lineup. He should be back in there in a day or two.

Nationals signed RHP Francisco Rodriguez to a minor league contract.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports first reported the Nats' pursuit of K-Rod earlier Monday and now says that the deal has been finalized. The former closer will go to the minors league for now but should be added to the big league bullpen. Rodriguez was released by the Tigers last week after posting an ugly 7.82 ERA over 28 appearances, but Washington is willing to give him a shot given their bullpen issues.
Jun 26 - 4:33 PM

Nomar Mazara (forearm) has returned to the Rangers' starting lineup Monday versus the Indians.

Mazara sat out Saturday and Sunday with a bruised right forearm from being hit by a pitch from Aroldis Chapman, but fortunately it's not a long-term issue. He'll bat third in his return.
Jun 26 - 3:44 PM

Willson Contreras will hit leadoff Monday against the Nationals.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon is trying something different with left-hander Gio Gonzalez on the hill for Washington. To his credit, Contreras has been much better against southpaws than against right-handers this season. Anthony Rizzo has been hitting leadoff recently, but he'll slide down to the No. 2 spot on Monday.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: Joe Maddon's lineup shuffle bodes well for Contreras and Javier Baez, both of whom find themselves in prime spots at very reasonable price tags across the industry. Tonight's slate features a bevy of high-end SPs despite just six games on the docket, so taking the value with Contreras and Baez makes sense in any format. Contreras has his best hard hit rate during the month of June (36.2%) and also owns his lowest ground-ball rate of the season over that span. Baez has flashed his typical power against LHP, sporting a .283 ISO against southpaws to this point.

Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports that the Rays are set to acquire Adeiny Hechavarria from the Marlins for minor league outfielder Braxton Lee and right-hander Ethan Clark.

The deal isn't yet official. The Rays are expected to cover the remainder of Hechavarria's $4.35 million salary for this season. The 28-year-old has been sidelined for over a month with an oblique injury, but he was slated to make his return this week. He'll presumably take over as the primary shortstop for the Rays. Hechavarria, who is under team control through 2018, is a .255/.291/.337 hitter in the majors.
Jun 26 - 3:28 PM

Joey Gallo (hamstring) has returned to the Rangers' starting lineup Monday against the Indians.

Gallo missed back-to-back starts over the weekend with hamstring soreness, but he's apparently feeling better. He'll bat ninth against Carlos Carrasco.
Jun 26 - 3:27 PM

Rangers activated LHP Cole Hamels from the 10-day disabled list.

Hamels, out since early May with a right oblique strain, allowed one run in 8 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts and two walks through two minor league rehab starts. He'll make his return to the Rangers' rotation Monday against the Indians.
Jun 26 - 3:22 PM

Indians activated OF Michael Brantley from the 10-day disabled list.

Brantley was able to return from his right ankle sprain as soon as he was eligible. The 30-year-old returns to a .296/.360/.432 batting line with five homers and seven steals through 54 games this season.
Jun 26 - 3:10 PM

Billy Hamilton is not in Monday's lineup against the Cardinals.

He's presumably getting a day of rest. Patrick Kivlehan will handle center field duties and bat eighth. Jose Peraza is hitting leadoff.
Jun 26 - 12:46 PM

Yankees activated OF Jacoby Ellsbury from the 7-day concussion disabled list.

As expected, Ellsbury will replace the injured Aaron Hicks (oblique) on the active roster. The veteran outfielder went 3-for-8 with two doubles during a brief minor league rehab assignment. He put up a .281/.349/.422 batting line over 39 games prior to suffering a concussion last month.
Jun 26 - 12:31 PM

Diamondbacks placed OF Aaron Hicks on the 10-day disabled list with a right oblique injury.

Hicks suffered the injury during Sunday's game and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. It's a shame, as the 27-year-old has enjoyed an excellent first base. Jacoby Ellsbury (concussion) has been activated from the disabled list to take his place on the active roster.
