Domonic Brown was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Nationals with an illness.

It's not clear whether he'll be able to return Sunday for the Phillies' final game before the All-Star break. Brown is batting just .225/.277/.328 with six home runs and 46 RBI in 90 games this season.

Kris Bryant finished 2-for-3 with three RBI as the Cubs topped the Cardinals 9-8 on Wednesday.

Bryant singled and scored in the Cubs' six-run second inning and cracked a long three-run homer off Seung Hwan Oh in the top of the sixth. The star third baseman has an .870 OPS with 10 home runs and 35 RBI in 44 games this season for the Cubs, who now hold an eight-game lead over the Cardinals in the National League Central. Bryant has done nothing but rake since he arrived in the majors last April.

Corey Kluber was fantastic in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the White Sox, firing 7 1/3 innings of two-run ball while striking out nine.

Only one of the two runs on Kluber's line was earned. The nine strikeouts stand as his second-best effort of 2016. After struggling for much of April, the ace right-hander has worked his ERA down to 3.78. He also holds a 1.11 WHIP and 67/16 K/BB ratio over 66 2/3 innings. He will look to continue to round into form in a home start against the Rangers next time he takes the ball.
May 25 - 5:21 PM

Rockies manager Walt Weiss said that Jorge De La Rosa will be moved to the bullpen for the time being.

This shouldn't be considered a huge surprise. De La Rosa was rocked for seven runs over 3 1/3 innings against the Red Sox on Tuesday and now holds an 11.41 ERA through six starts this season. He missed almost a month with a strained left groin suffered in late April, but was struggling even before the injury. With De La Rosa shifting to the bullpen, Chris Rusin will join the rotation.
May 25 - 5:18 PM

Jean Segura said he does not have a concussion.

Pirates reliever Arquimedes Caminero hit Segura on the side of his batting helmet with a 96 mph fastball on Tuesday, sending him out of the game and to a local hospital. Segura remains active on the Diamondbacks' roster Wednesday and could be ready to return by the weekend. Call him day-to-day for now.
May 25 - 4:38 PM

Jeanmar Gomez earned his 17th save of the season in Wednesday afternoon's 8-5 defeat of the Tigers.

Gomez retired Cameron Maybin, J.D. Martinez, and Miguel Cabrera in order in the bottom of the ninth inning to preserve Philly's three-run lead. The 28-year-old right-hander has been one of the biggest surprises of the 2016 fantasy season so far, boasting a 2.45 ERA in 25 2/3 frames. He is 17-for-18 in save opportunities.
May 25 - 4:34 PM

Maikel Franco was lifted from Wednesday's game against the Tigers with a right ankle sprain.

Franco suffered the sprain in the top of the seventh inning, appearing to jam his foot on a slide into second base. He subsequently limped off the field. No timetable for his return has been set forward as of yet. If it isn't serious, Franco could come back in short order, but these things sometimes have a tendency to linger.
May 25 - 4:11 PM

Rockies activated RHP Jason Motte from the 15-day disabled list.

Motte will finally join the Colorado bullpen on Wednesday after missing the first eight weeks of the season with a shoulder strain. He had a 3.18 ERA and five strikeouts in 5 2/3 minor league rehab innings.
May 25 - 4:00 PM

Mark Teixeira is out of the Yankees' starting lineup on Wednesday with renewed neck discomfort.

He has three homers in nine career at-bats against the Blue Jays' starter, Marco Estrada, so it's a big absence. Teixeira is considered day-to-day for now.
May 25 - 3:56 PM

Alex Rodriguez (hamstring) will play another rehab game with Double-A Trenton on Wednesday.

And then he should be activated on Thursday. A-Rod went 2-for-4 with two singles and an RBI in his rehab debut Tuesday at the Double-A level. He's been on the disabled list since May 4 with a hamstring strain.
May 25 - 3:54 PM

Steven Matz worked eight scoreless innings Wednesday in the Mets' 2-0 defeat of the Nationals.

Matz carved his way through the Bryce Harper-less lineup in Washington, yielding just four hits and a walk while striking out seven. He did actually face Harper in a pinch-hit situation in the bottom of the eighth and got him to ground out. Matz, 24, boasts a 7-1 record, 2.36 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 50/9 K/BB ratio in 49 2/3 innings (eight starts) this season. He'll look to stay ace-like next time out against the White Sox.
May 25 - 3:51 PM

Nick Ahmed (head) is in the Diamondbacks' starting lineup on Wednesday against the Pirates.

Ahmed took a pitch off his chin on Tuesday night but came away with nothing more than some minor cuts. He is batting leadoff Wednesday versus lefty Jeff Locke.
