Adam Wainwright was knocked around for three runs on three hits over his inning of work during Tuesday’s All-Star game.

Wainwright admitted to grooving a pitch to Derek Jeter to lead off the frame – something he probably shouldn’t have said, but that’s another matter – and The Captain banged it to right field for a double. Jeter came around to score on a Mike Trout triple and Trout came around on a two-run homer by Miguel Cabrera. Waino’s pitch to Cabrera wasn’t a bad one, as it was in off the plate, but the best hitter in the game managed to turn on it and put it into the seats. Wainwright completely deserved to start for the NL, but those that thought Clayton Kershaw should’ve gotten the ball are no doubt smirking. Kershaw, by the way, tossed a perfect second inning.

Zach Davies spun seven shutout innings Sunday in the Brewers’ victory over Atlanta.

Davies was pitching to contact—he didn’t strike anyone out—but he only gave up four hits and was extremely efficient over his 98-pitch outing. He got stronger as the game went on, allowing just two base runners after the second inning. Davies leads Milwaukee with eight victories this year despite a sluggish 4.96 ERA. He’ll look for win No. 9 Saturday against Miami.

Keon Broxton clobbered another homer as part of a three-hit, three-RBI afternoon Sunday in the Brewers’ win over the Braves.

Broxton also stole his 13th base of the season. His home run was a 366-foot solo shot off Julio Teheran in the second inning. Broxton was struggling for a while but the threat of top prospect Lewis Brinson seems to have lit a fire under him. Seven of Broxton’s 13 homers this year have come over his 15 games.

Jose Bautista went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and four total RBI in Sunday's 8-2 win over the Royals.

The Royals held a 2-0 lead after four innings before Bautista evened up the score with his two-run dinger off Jason Hammel in the top of the fifth. The pull-shot to left was a no-doubter which traveled an estimated 451 feet. One inning later, he would draw a bases-loaded walk to give the Blue Jays a 3-2 lead. Bautista then capped off his nice day at the office with an RBI single in the seventh inning. For the season as a whole, the veteran slugger is hitting .233/.346/.419 with 13 homers and 35 RBI through 274 at-bats. He has turned in multi-hit efforts in three of his last four games.

Sonny Gray was terrific in Sunday's victory over the White Sox, allowing just two runs (one earned) on four hits over his seven frames.

Gray racked up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while walking only one. He gave up a solo homer to Adam Engel in the third inning, then kept the White Sox off the board except for an unearned run that scampered home on a passed ball in the fourth. Now 3-3 on the season, Gray will carry a 4.45 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 65/22 K/BB ratio into Saturday's matchup against the Braves.
Jun 25 - 5:51 PM

Trey Mancini bashed his 14th home run of the season Sunday in the Orioles’ victory over the Rays.

He ended Jake Odorizzi’s outing by belting a one-out solo shot in the sixth inning. That would be his only hit of the afternoon. The 25-year-old has caught fire recently, hitting an absurd .474 during his five-game hitting streak. If he had enough at-bats to qualify, Mancini's .321 average would be fourth-highest in the American League.
Jun 25 - 5:17 PM

Aaron Hicks was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Rangers due to right oblique tightness.

Hicks is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury. This comes on the heels of the outfielder missing a few games due to a sore Achilles. It sounds like it could lead to a trip to the disabled list, but more will be known on Monday.

Addison Russell departed Sunday's game versus the Marlins with right shoulder discomfort.

It's something that's been a recurring ailment for him this season. Consider Russell day-to-day.

Yasiel Puig is not in Sunday's lineup due to a nagging hamstring issue.

Puig has often had hamstring issues during his career, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts insisted that this one isn't a major concern. "It's not serious," Roberts said. Cody Bellinger will handle right field Sunday, with Logan Forsythe sliding over to first base and Austin Barnes getting a start at second base.
Jun 25 - 2:57 PM

Jon Gray (foot) will rejoin the Rockies' rotation next weekend in Arizona.

Manager Bud Black made it official Sunday, although he didn't reveal the exact day Gray would be activated. The big right-hander has been sidelined since mid-April with a stress fracture in his left foot but got through a rehab assignment with no issues. The Rockies will go back to a traditional five-man rotation when Gray returns, but they haven't announced yet who will be moved to the bullpen or the minors.
Jun 25 - 2:54 PM

Madison Bumgarner (shoulder) will make an appearance for the Giants' Arizona Rookie League team on Sunday.

Bumgarner also hit off a tee Sunday, as the left-hander's recovery from a sprained left AC joint continues to progress more quickly than expected. If he gets through Sunday's appearance with no issues, Bumgarner is expected to be officially cleared to begin a rehab assignment. He's tracking toward a return just after the All-Star break.
Jun 25 - 2:46 PM

Zack Wheeler (biceps) threw a 72-pitch bullpen session Sunday.

Wheeler's next turn in the rotation comes up on Saturday and it's possible he'll be ready then. The Mets should have more on his status later this week. Rafael Montero is starting in Wheeler's place on Sunday.
