David Price threw eight shutout innings Saturday in the Rays' 5-1 defeat of the Twins.

Price has now won five straight starts -- a career-best streak for the ace left-hander. He struck out nine Minnesota hitters, walked none, and gave up only four hits. Price moves one day closer to the trade deadline with an outstanding 3.06 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 173/21 K/BB ratio in 155 2/3 innings. If he's still with the Rays, he'll get the Red Sox at home next time out.

Cesar Hernandez is getting the day off Thursday against the Marlins.

Andres Blanco will fill in at second base and Daniel Nava will take a turn at leadoff in the Phillies' series finale versus Miami. Hernandez has put up an impressive .321/.360/.536 batting line with four home runs and three stolen bases in 19 games this season.

Kyle Seager (hip) is back in the Mariners' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon.

Seager wound up missing four games because of a sore hip. He is starting at third base and batting fifth Thursday versus Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander.
Apr 27 - 10:40 AM

Noah Syndergaard has been scratched from his scheduled start Thursday against the Braves due to biceps tendinitis.

Matt Harvey will take the mound in his place. Mets manager Terry Collins described Syndergaard's injury as a "tired arm" and said "we can't take a chance on this guy." The ace right-hander is being sent for an MRI, and the results of that exam should paint a clearer picture about his status moving forward. There's a possibility he could pitch Sunday in Washington if everything checks out fine.
Apr 27 - 10:35 AM

Sean Manaea (shoulder) said it's possible he could make his next scheduled start.

Manaea was lifted from Wednesday's game against the Angels after experiencing shoulder tightness, but he's dealt with a similar issue in the past and it went away in a couple of days. There are no tests planned currently. We should know more once it comes time for him to throw his between-starts bullpen session. The young left-hander is currently lined up to face the Twins on the road next Tuesday.

Shin-Soo Choo went 3-for-5 with a three-run blast and scored three runs in a 14-3 barn-burner of a win over the Twins.

He hit his three-run shot in the eighth inning not long after Ryan Rua hit his grand slam in the same frame. Choo had already tripled and scored earlier in the inning. He suffered through an injury-plagued 2015 season that saw him play in just 48 games. He got off to a very slow start this year but has turned things around in recent days. Choo is getting old (turns 35 in July) but when healthy is still capable of big things in fantasy leagues -- especially those that use on-base percentage. He is now batting .258/.380/.394 with two homers, 11 runs and 10 RBI.
Apr 27 - 1:30 AM

Brandon Drury left Wednesday's game against the Padres with a jammed right knee.

He suffered the injury in a collision with Padres starter Trevor Cahill at first base. Drury singled and walked twice before exiting. After he left, Chris Owings moved from shortstop to second base with Nick Ahmed taking over at shortstop. Drury is day-to-day.
Apr 27 - 12:09 AM

Tim Beckham went 3-for-5 and drilled two solo home runs but the Rays still lost to the Orioles on Wednesday.

He homered in the third and again in the fifth to draw the Rays within a run, but they ultimately fell in extra innings. Beckham has been serving as the starting shortstop since the season began in the absence of the injured Matt Duffy. Beckham has hit well enough that there could be a position battle when Duffy returns to action. Beckham is hitting .280/.299/.493 with four homers, 10 runs scored and eight RBI in 78 plate appearances.
Apr 26 - 11:46 PM

James Paxton notched nine punchouts and shut out the Tigers for seven innings to earn an 8-0 victory on Wednesday.

He gave up just four hits and one walk in the dominant effort. Paxton has been pitching like this all month, registering a cool 1.39 ERA with three wins and no losses through his first five starts. He has 39 strikeouts and six walks in 32 1/3 innings. Barring any rainouts along the way, he lines up for two starts next week in a dream scoring period for his owners.

According to Tommy Stoke of FanRag Sports, Shelby Miller is dealing with a ligament issue in his right elbow and could need Tommy John surgery.

That would explain why Miller is sending his MRI to Dr. James Andrews for a third opinion. Miller had been hoping for a bounce-back season after struggling to a 6.15 ERA in his first year with Arizona but obviously his elbow injury has thrown a wrench in those plans. Zack Godley was called up from Triple-A Reno to take Miller's spot in Arizona's starting rotation.
Apr 26 - 10:25 PM

Maikel Franco went 3-for-4 and crushed a grand slam in Wednesday's 7-4 defeat of the Marlins.

The Phillies trailed 2-0 in the third inning when Franco came to the plate with the bases juiced. He smoked a Wei-Yin Chen offering over the center field wall for his second grand slam of the season. Franco has a marvelous 20 RBI already, but hasn't been very good other than that. He has a woeful .203/.268/.392 slash line with three home runs and six runs scored.
Apr 26 - 10:20 PM

Brandon Phillips left Wednesday's game against the Mets with a strained left groin.

He singled in his only at-bat before Jace Peterson replaced him at second base to begin the bottom half of the second inning. The Braves are calling him day-to-day, though strained groins often lead to stints on the disabled list. Phillips is off to an outstanding start, batting .352 with two homers, nine RBI and five steals through his first 19 games.
