Phillies activated LHP Cliff Lee from the 60-day disabled list.

Lee missed over two months with an elbow strain. He will return to the Phillies' starting rotation on Monday night against the Giants and has two turns before the July 31 trade deadline to prove his health. He'll be an attractive name on the block if he pitches well.

A.J. Burnett (elbow) is hoping to rejoin the Pirates' rotation during the September 15-17 series against the Cubs.

Burnett was thrilled with how a 70-pitch simulated game went on Sunday, saying there's "no comparison" to how he feels now and how he did when he injured his elbow in July. He will not go out on a rehab assignment before returning. J.A. Happ has pitched well in Burnett's place, posting a 1.98 ERA over five starts.

Josh Hamilton (knee) has yet to be cleared to resume running.

Hamilton is taking batting practice and playing catch with no issues, but his left knee remains too sore to run on. He will be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday but could be limited to pinch-hitting initially. "It feels OK to throw and hit on the knee," he said. "I just haven’t gotten to the important part where I can run or jog. That’s the next step."
Aug 30 - 12:21 PM

Rougned Odor (finger) remained out of the Rangers' lineup Sunday.

He was able to go through some pregame drills, suggesting his return is close. Hanser Alberto is filling in at second base again for Odor.
Aug 30 - 12:15 PM

Felix Hernandez will have his next turn in the rotation skipped.

Vidal Nuno will start on Monday in Houston instead. King Felix pitched well his last time out but overall has struggled for the last month, so getting him some extra rest probably isn't a bad idea. "I did the same thing last year," Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said. "I freshened my pitchers up, and Felix had the best September of his career. Everybody thought I was nuts when I did it. I’ll do it again because it’s the right thing to do."
Aug 30 - 11:48 AM

Red Sox interim manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that Jean Machi has overtaken Junichi Tazawa as the club's closer.

It comes as no surprise, as Tazawa was pulled from a save opportunity on Friday and then Machi nailed down a save on Saturday. Machi is certainly no cinch in the role given his 5.21 ERA on the season, but obviously he needs to be owned in fantasy leagues while he's being used in the ninth inning.
Aug 30 - 11:32 AM

Mark Teixeira (shin) remained out of the Yankees' lineup Sunday.

Teixeira has started just one game over the last 13 days due to a deep bone bruise in his right shin. He's not going to be placed on the disabled list with roster expanding soon, but there's no timetable for his return to action. Greg Bird will continue to handle first base.
Aug 30 - 11:06 AM

Carlos Correa (hamstring) remained out of the Astros' lineup Sunday.

He's now missed the last four games with a left hamstring strain. Marwin Gonzalez is starting at shortstop again in Correa's place.
Aug 30 - 11:02 AM

Michael Taylor (knee) is back in the Nationals' lineup Sunday.

Taylor didn't start the last couple games due to a bruised right knee. He was able to pinch-hit Saturday, though, and is back in the lineup Sunday.
Aug 30 - 10:54 AM

Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) remained out of the Red Sox' lineup Sunday.

He's missed the entire weekend series versus the Braves due to fatigue in his left shoulder. Alejandro De Aza is in left field again in Ramirez's place.
Aug 30 - 10:03 AM

David Ortiz (heel) is back in the Red Sox' lineup Sunday.

Ortiz didn't start Saturday due to tightness in his left heel, although he did double as a pinch-hitter. The 39-year-old sports a .265/.353/.510 batting line with 27 homers and 77 RBI this season.
Aug 30 - 10:01 AM

Jose Peraza went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases Saturday in the Dodgers' 5-2 defeat of the Cubs.

Peraza singled, stole third base, and scored a run in the bottom of the third inning. In the bottom of the seventh inning, he smacked an RBI double and scored his second run of the game. In the eighth inning he reached on a fielder's choice and stole second. The young infield prospect can be a weapon as a pinch-runner down the stretch for Los Angeles and he'll be an intriguing daily fantasy play on days he starts.
