Taijuan Walker will be recalled to start on Wednesday versus the Mets.

Walker has put up a 3.60 ERA while striking out nine over 10 innings in his two starts for the Mariners this season. With James Paxton (lat) slated to return pretty soon, Walker likely has to pitch well in order to remain in the rotation. Still, he makes for a nice streaming option Wednesday at the very least.

Fernando Rodney took a blown save and a loss after giving up a three-run homer to the Yankees' Gary Sanchez on Thursday.

The ninth started with a Miguel Sano error, which was immediately followed by a single and the walkoff blast. It makes three straight blown saves for Rodney. Of course, it probably hasn't helped that he's made a total of three appearances in two weeks. His ERA jumped from 4.05 to 6.75 today, but he was at 11.00 at this time last year and everything turned out fine. So, it's just a matter of whether the Twins want to remain as patient as the Diamondbacks did last year. Since they're 8-12 and they had much higher expectations, we wouldn't be surprised if they make the switch to Addison Reed. Still, they're probably better off just keeping Reed in a setup role and letting Rodney work his way out of it.

Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports that Jung Ho Kang has been granted a work visa to re-enter the United States and "will rejoin the Pirates in the coming days."

Kang's immigration lawyer posted a photo in a now-deleted tweet of Kang arriving at an airport Thursday afternoon in New York City. Biertempfel notes that it's unclear what kind of shape Kang is in and now long it will take him to actually return to the Pirates' active roster. The South Korean third baseman was not allowed into the United States last year after being arrested for his third DUI in Seoul in December 2016. This is a rather surprising turn of events.

Kris Bryant (head) is out of the Cubs' starting lineup again on Thursday versus the Brewers.

Bryant has been sidelined since taking a pitch off his helmet on Sunday. He was scheduled to meet with team physician Dr. Stephen Adams on Thursday afternoon in Chicago, presumably for another round of concussion tests. Tommy La Stella will start at third base and bat fifth Thursday night against Rockies right-hander Chase Anderson.
Apr 26 - 3:28 PM

Jose Abreu (flu) is out of the White Sox starting lineup on Thursday against the Royals.

Abreu left Wednesday's game after three innings due to flu-like symptoms. Consider him day-to-day. Matt Davidson is at first base and Daniel Palka is serving as Chicago's designated hitter in Thursday night's series opener at Kansas City's Kauffman Stadium.
Apr 26 - 3:21 PM

Joe Kelly will begin serving his six-game suspension on Thursday night.

Kelly was handed the suspension back on April 12 after intentionally hitting Tyler Austin with a pitch and inciting a benches-clearing brawl between the Red Sox and Yankees. Kelly filed an appeal, which is how he's remained active the past two weeks, but that appeal was officially denied by MLB on Thursday afternoon.

Indians placed LHP Andrew Miller on the 10-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.

Miller suffered the injury during an appearance Wednesday night against the Cubs. He figures to miss around two weeks. The dominant left-handed setup man leaves behind a 0.00 ERA and 17/4 K/BB ratio in 10 innings.
Apr 26 - 1:58 PM

Mets manager Mickey Callaway indicated Thursday that Steven Matz will remain on turn in the starting rotation.

"We’re going to get him where he needs to be," Callaway told reporters. Matz allowed seven runs -- three earned -- over just 3 1/3 innings in Wednesday night's loss to the Cardinals and now holds a 4.98 ERA through 21 2/3 total innings (five starts) this season. He's lined up to face the Braves next week, though an off day could allow the Mets to skip that start.
Apr 26 - 11:12 AM

Tommy Pham is starting in center field and hitting second on Thursday afternoon against the Mets.

Pham sliced open his forehead on Wednesday night while taking warmup swings with a resistance band, but the cut did not require stitches and he cleared MLB's concussion protocol. The dynamic 30-year-old outfielder is batting .343/.471/.514 with three home runs and five stolen bases through 21 games this season.
Apr 26 - 11:00 AM

Asdrubal Cabrera (hamstring) is back in the Mets' starting lineup Thursday against the Cardinals.

Cabrera was held out of Wednesday's game because of a minor hamstring injury. He will start at second base and bat third versus Carlos Martinez in Thursday afternoon's series finale at Busch Stadium. The 32-year-old currently leads the National League with a .349 batting average.
Apr 26 - 10:49 AM

Reds activated 3B Eugenio Suarez from the 10-day disabled list.

Suarez is starting at third base and batting fifth on Thursday afternoon against Braves left-hander Sean Newcomb after missing just over two weeks with a fracture in his right thumb. The thought initially was that he could be sidelined through much of May. Suarez returns to a strong .296/.424/.630 batting line with two home runs and seven RBI in eight games played.
Apr 26 - 9:58 AM

Joe Musgrove (shoulder) threw about 35 pitches over two innings in a simulated appearance on Wednesday.

Musgrove used all of his pitches and tried to ramp up the velocity on his fastball from previous throwing workouts. "It went really well. It was really encouraging," Musgrove said. "I didn't feel like there was any abnormality in the way I was moving and the things I was doing. The ball was coming out clean. The velo was in a decent range, kind of where I was expecting it to be." The 25-year-old right-hander could soon be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. He's on track to join the Pirates' rotation around mid-May, assuming no setbacks.
