He now has 6 RBI in the series and can help the Giants wrap up a four-game sweep on Thursday afternoon. Pence has been among the most productive hitters in baseball, slashing .304/.361/.479 with 13 home runs, 41 RBI, and 10 stolen bases.

Rays signed first-round pick OF Garrett Whitley.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Whitley will receive a $2,962,000 bonus, which is the full slot value for the No. 13 overall pick. The 18-year-old is a toolsy outfielder who should stick in center field as a pro.

Rangers activated OF Josh Hamilton from the 15-day disabled list.

Hamilton went 4-for-12 (.333) with a double and three RBI over four rehab games between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. His hamstring isn't back to 100 percent quite yet, but he's going to try to manage it. The Rangers have talked about using Hamilton in center field, but he's playing left field in his return Tuesday.
Jun 30 - 3:20 PM

Rangers optioned 3B/OF Joey Gallo to Triple-A Round Rock.

Gallo was sent out with Josh Hamilton (hamstring) coming back from the disabled list. The 21-year-old batted .218/.306/.448 with five home runs and a 43/11 K/BB ratio over 98 plate appearances during his first stint in the majors. He has massive long-term potential, but some more time in the minors is the best thing for him right now.
Jun 30 - 3:17 PM

Padres recalled INF Jedd Gyorko from Triple-A El Paso.

He'll replace the injured Cory Spangenberg (knee) on the active roster and figures to see at least part-time at-bats at second base. The 26-year-old was batting just .210/.282/.311 prior to his demotion earlier this month, but he was swinging the bat well during his time in Triple-A.
Jun 30 - 2:56 PM

Padres placed 2B Cory Spangenberg on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 28, with a left knee contusion.

Spangenberg injured the knee on Saturday and will require a couple of weeks of rest. The Padres are calling up Jedd Gyorko to take his place on the active roster.
Jun 30 - 2:53 PM

Sonny Gray was scratched from Tuesday's start against the Rockies due to illness.

He should be back to normal in the next couple of days. The A's are calling up Chris Bassitt to fill in.
Jun 30 - 2:47 PM

Michael Morse has returned to Miami after tweaking a back muscle during his minor league rehab assignment.

Morse was considered likely to be activated Tuesday, but that's obviously not going to happen now. No word yet on how much time he'll miss. The 33-year-old has already been sidelined since May 23 with a finger sprain.
Jun 30 - 2:39 PM

Adam Lind is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Phillies.

He'll take a seat against left-hander Cole Hamels. Jason Rogers will start at first base and bat seventh.
Jun 30 - 2:35 PM

Mets activated INF Daniel Murphy from the 15-day disabled list.

Murphy, out since June 5 with a strained right quad, is expected to take over at third base while Wilmer Flores will play second and Ruben Tejada will function as the regular shortstop. The 30-year-old was batting .283/.335/.414 with four homers and 29 RBI in 55 games prior to the injury.
Jun 30 - 2:22 PM

Brandon Phillips (hand) is out of the Reds' lineup again for the second straight game Tuesday against the Twins.

Phillips injured both of his hands in Sunday's loss to the Mets and isn't feeling quite right yet. Ivan De Jesus will start at second base again while Billy Hamilton remains in the leadoff spot.
Jun 30 - 2:03 PM

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Astros have signed competitive balance pick OF Daz Cameron for $4 million.

Cameron was selected No. 37 overall, so the Astros went $2.332 million over the slot value in order to sign him. The 18-year-old slipped due to his high price tag, but the Astros had the largest pool in this year's draft. They also selected Alex Bregman and Kyle Tucker in the first round. It's an impressive haul of talent.
