Chase Headley slugged his first home run since joining the Yankees in Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays.

It was a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth inning. Headley is now 8-for-23 (.348) in six games since the trade that sent him from San Diego to New York and is capable of providing significant fantasy value down the stretch now that he's playing his home games in a much more offense-friendly park.

Reds activated OF Scott Schebler from the 10-day disabled list.

He's been out all month with a strained left rotator cuff but is ready to go following a short rehab assignment. Schebler was really struggling before going on the DL and Jesse Winker is still expected to receive some starts in right field.

Brewers activated C Stephen Vogt from the 10-day disabled list.

Vogt missed a month of action with a sprained MCL. He'll go back to sharing time at catcher with Manny Pina.
Aug 18 - 3:57 PM

Angels activated LHP Andrew Heaney from the 60-day disabled list.

Heaney will make his season debut on Friday in Baltimore after completing the long rehab from Tommy John surgery. He put up a 2.60 ERA and 29/5 K/BB ratio over 27 2/3 innings on his rehab assignment, but it would probably still be wise for fantasy owners to see how he looks for a start or two before activating him, especially considering the tough first matchup.
Aug 18 - 3:36 PM

Dodgers activated 1B Adrian Gonzalez from the 60-day disabled list.

Gonzalez went 6-for-31 (.194) with one home run over nine rehab games as he shook the rust off following a back injury. The Dodgers seem likely to use Gonzalez mostly as a bat off the bench, although they could give Cody Bellinger some starts in the outfield. Gonzalez will at least get starts this weekend in Detroit for the Dodgers' interleague series.
Aug 18 - 3:22 PM

Cubs placed LHP Jon Lester on the 10-day disabled list with left shoulder fatigue and left lat tightness.

It's not ideal, obviously, but the good news is Lester's shoulder and lat are structurally sound. President of baseball operations Theo Epstein expects Lester to miss "only a start or two." Mike Montgomery will slide into the Cubs' rotation in the meantime.
Aug 18 - 12:31 PM

Rays activated OF Kevin Kiermaier from the 60-day disabled list.

Kiermaier is ready to roll after missing over two months of action with a fractured hip (he also had a minor back issue last month). He was just 3-for-24 on a rehab assignment and might need a few extra days off initially, but fantasy owners should feel free to re-insert Kiermaier into their lineups. He's in center field and batting leadoff Friday.
Aug 18 - 12:29 PM

Roberto Osuna will not be available to pitch Friday due to the flu.

He's not even at the ballpark, as the Blue Jays have told Osuna to stay at the team hotel to rest. Hopefully he'll be ready to go Saturday. Ryan Tepera will close on Friday if Toronto has a save chance. Danny Barnes and Dominic Leone are also unavailable Friday due to recent usage, so the Jays are shorthanded in the bullpen.
Aug 18 - 12:14 PM

Alex Cobb (toe) could rejoin the Rays' rotation as soon as Tuesday versus the Blue Jays.

Cobb threw a 40-pitch bullpen session Wednesday and is slated for another one Saturday. Assuming that goes well, he'll be cleared to rejoin the Rays' rotation. The veteran right-hander has missed the last two weeks with turf toe in his right big toe.

Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said Thursday that Odubel Herrera (hamstring) "might have to go on the DL."

"We’re thinking a lot about it," the skipper added. Herrera missed a third straight game Thursday with a strained left hamstring and he hasn't recovered as quickly as hoped. The injury comes at a poor time for Herrera's fantasy owners, as he's been one of the hottest hitters in baseball with a .379/.431/.636 line during his current 17-game hitting streak.
Aug 18 - 9:41 AM

Adam Wainwright is heading back to St. Louis to have his ailing right arm examined.

Wainwright's velocity has hovered in the 82-85 mph range in his last two starts and after the first outing he admitted that he's dealing with some pain on the outside of his elbow/triceps area. For what it's worth, he said at the time that it's something that pops up on him now and then and eventually goes away. With Wainwright struggling and Luke Weaver available to step in (he threw two scoreless relief innings Thursday after Wainwright exited), the Cardinals could make a move here.
Aug 18 - 8:12 AM

Nomar Mazara went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and five RBI in total, and the Rangers fended off the White Sox 9-8 on Thursday.

Mazara actually had a pair of big hits in the game, tying it with a two-run single in the third inning before breaking a tie with his three-run shot in the fifth. He's now homered in two straight and has 16, with an impressive 82 RBI -- fifth-most in the American League -- on the year. He's been especially potent in recent days, going 15-for-31 over his last eight games. The tear has his season line up to .260/.336/.440.
