Lucas Duda hit his second game-winning home run in three days on Sunday, as his two-run homer proved to be the difference in the Mets' 2-0 win over the Brewers.

Duda tortured the Brewers in the four-game set, hitting three homers and driving in six. He's got four home runs in his last six games to give him 18 on the season. The first baseman is batting .259/.356/.500 with 56 RBI and has put himself into the mixed league discussion with his recent power surge.

Lyle Overbay said on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM on Wednesday that he's "99.9 percent sure" that he'll retire.

Overbay appeared in 121 games with the Brewers this season while batting just .233/.328/.333 with four home runs and 28 RBI. Assuming he's done, the 37-year-old will finish his career with a .266 batting average to go along with 1,355 hits, 151 home runs and 675 RBI over 14 seasons.

Ben Revere underwent right ankle surgery this week.

Revere had screws removed from the ankle and will be in a boot for two weeks. However, he should be fine by the time spring training rolls around. The 26-year-old outfielder batted .306/.325/.361 over 151 games this season while finishing fourth in the majors with 49 steals.

Carlos Ruiz underwent left shoulder surgery this week.

Ruiz recently said that he has been playing through left shoulder soreness all season, so he finally got the issue addressed. The good news is that he is expected to be ready for spring training. The 35-year-old batted .252/.347/.370 with six home runs and 31 RBI over 110 games this season. He's owed $8.5 million in each of the next two season and his contract includes a $4.5 million club option for 2017 or a $500,000 buyout.

Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that Sandy Alomar, Jr. and Jim Tracy are candidates for the Diamondbacks' managerial vacancy.

Alomar has five seasons with the Indians as the first base, third base and bench coach. Tracy has previously managed with the Dodgers, Pirates, and Rockies. Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish adds that Jay Bell, Andy Green, Phil Nevin, and Turner Ward are other candidates for the job. More figure to be added to the list.

Taijuan Walker will pitch 30 innings in the Arizona Fall League.

Walker missed some time this season with a shoulder injury, so the Mariners want to get him some more innings going into the offseason. The 22-year-old posted a 2.61 ERA and 34/18 K/BB ratio in 38 innings across five starts and three relief appearances in the majors this year and should be a popular late-round flier in mixed leagues in 2015.

Adam Dunn acknowledged after the Athletics' loss to the Royals in the Wild Card Game on Tuesday that he still plans to retire.

"That's probably it," said Dunn, who waited 14 seasons and 2,001 career games to get to the playoffs, the longest such streak of any active player. The 34-year-old didn't make an appearance in Tuesday's Wild Card Game, but he has no regrets. "Not at all," said Dunn. "Let's not make a bigger deal out of it. I love Bob [Melvin]. He's one of the best managers I've ever played for. He's as good as there is out there. You wish the best for a guy like that. He's awesome. Awesome." If this is the end for Dunn, he'll finish with 462 career home runs, tying him for 35th on the all-time list.
Oct 1 - 8:51 AM

Salvador Perez made his one hit Tuesday count, as he delivered a two-out, walk-off RBI single in the 12th inning of the Wild Card Game win over the Athletics.

Perez was having an awful game up to that point, going 0-for-5 with a couple strikeouts, including one in the eighth with the tying run on third base and one out. He finally came through in extras, though, pulling a ball down the third-base line just past Josh Donaldson to score Christian Colon from second base. The Royals will face the Angels in the ALDS.
Oct 1 - 1:14 AM

Brandon Moss had a two-run homer and a three-run shot in Tuesday's loss to the Royals.

Moss did all he could, getting the A's on board with a two-run blast in the first inning before putting them ahead with a three-run dinger in the sixth. He also drew a walk in one of his six plate appearances. It wasn't enough in the back-and-forth game, though, as the Royals ultimately prevailed in extras. Moss had just two longballs since the beginning of August before smacking a pair Tuesday.
Oct 1 - 1:03 AM

Coco Crisp left Tuesday's game against the Royals with a right hamstring injury.

Crisp tweaked his hamstring on a swing in the top of the 11th. He took the field for the bottom of the frame but decided he couldn't go. It's an ailment that could conceivably keep him out a while if the A's advance, but more should be known about his status after the game.
Oct 1 - 12:14 AM

Geovany Soto left Tuesday's Wild Card Game against the Royals with a left thumb injury.

Soto injured the thumb while making a tag at home plate in the bottom of the first inning. He remained in the game for a bit longer but eventually had to exit. The A's should update his status after the game, but it's possible he won't be able to play in the ALDS if the A's advance. Derek Norris replaced him behind the plate.

Mark Saxon of ESPNLosAngeles.com reports that it "appears quite likely" the Dodgers would start Clayton Kershaw on short rest in a potential NLDS Game 4.

Manager Don Mattingly side-stepped the question Tuesday, saying "we wouldn’t even think about it until we see what would happen in Game 1 or what kind of situation we’ll be in." However, Mattingly used Kershaw on short rest in last year's NLDS and the left-hander pitched well. Also, Kershaw threw a simulated game Sunday, four days after his final regular season start, a move Saxon thinks is "seemingly intended to get his body used to short rest." Using Kershaw in Game 4 would mean he and Zack Greinke would start four times if the NLDS went five games. The club is hoping Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) is ready for Game 3. If Ryu is ready and Kershaw goes on short rest, Dan Haren would be ticketed for long relief.
