According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Twins have reengaged Kurt Suzuki about an extension.

The initial round of talks didn't get very far, but Rosenthal is now hearing that there's a "reasonable chance it gets done." Suzuki is having a career year offensively at age 30, batting .304/.367/.386 in 347 plate appearances. He signed a bargain one-year, $2.75 million free agent contract with Minnesota last winter.

Hernan Perez went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Brewers to a 5-3 win over the Pirates on Saturday.

Perez, getting a rare start in the third spot in the lineup with Ryan Braun sidelined, took Pirates starter Jameson Taillon deep for a two-run shot in the first inning to set the tone. He tacked on an RBI single in the seventh inning to extend the Brewers' lead. After years of relative obscurity, the 25-year-old is trying to make a name for himself in 2016, batting .283/.308/.444 with seven homers and 16 steals in 66 games.

The Indians and Brewers have reached an agreement on a trade that will send Jonathan Lucroy to Cleveland, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Dee Gordon went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and three runs scored as the Marlins skunked the Cardinals 11-0 on Saturday.

In his third game back from suspension, Gordon showed what the Marlins were missing, stealing his seventh base of the year and playing catalyst atop the lineup. The three runs gives him 17 runs scored in 24 games this year. With a couple of good games in recent days, Gordon has his line up to .264/.291/.340 and climbing.

Mitch Moreland whacked a walk-off home run to lead the Rangers over the Royals on Saturday.

The home run off Brooks Pounders landed in the upper deck in right field. It was his 17th home run of the season in 294 at-bats. He has hit for excellent power but has been mediocre in terms of batting average (.245) and on-base percentage (.311). Playing time has been sporadic for Moreland this year and is likely to remain that way.
Jul 30 - 11:44 PM

Yoenis Cespedes (quad) left Saturday's game against the Rockies for precautionary reasons.

He came out in the fifth inning after going 0-for-2 with a walk. The Mets are downplaying it but it's pretty evident that Cespedes is playing at less than 100 percent. He's been dealing with quad issues off and on for most of this month. Kelly Johnson took over in left field after Cespedes exited. We wouldn't be surprised if Cespedes got the day off on Sunday.
Jul 30 - 11:31 PM

Mike Napoli went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run as the Indians doubled up the Athletics 6-3 on Saturday.

His 23 homers are eighth-most in the American League, and he's sixth in the league with 70 RBI. It's the fifth time in his career that he's reached the 23-homer mark, and the first time since 2013. Napoli is hitting .246/.329/.486 in 95 games this year.
Jul 30 - 11:30 PM

Trevor Story left Saturday's game against the Mets with a jammed left thumb.

His X-rays came back negative and the Rockies are calling him day-to-day. Story went 1-for-2 with a single before exiting in the fourth inning. Cristhian Adames took his place at shortstop and will probably get the start there on Sunday.
Jul 30 - 10:57 PM

Justin Verlander struck out 11 while allowing two runs in a complete-game, 3-2 win over the Astros on Saturday.

Verlander was dominant for most of the evening, allowing just five hits and a walk, but the Astros turned three of those hits into two runs in the top of the ninth inning to put Verlander's gem in jeopardy. The Tigers offense came to his aid, though, scoring two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to give Verlander his 11th win. The right-hander has been vintage Verlander for much of the year, posting a 3.54 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 155/40 K/BB ratio over 147 1/3 innings. An interleague date with the Mets is on tap for Friday.

Padres acquired OF Hector Olivera from the Braves in exchange for OF Matt Kemp; designated him for assignment.

He won't be officially DFA'd until Tuesday when he comes off the suspended list. Olivera's career has hit the skids following his April arrest for assault and battery. The 31-year-old obviously offers an intriguing skill set but it remains to be seen if anyone is willing to take on his off-field baggage. He's hit .245 with two homers and 13 RBI over 98 major league at-bats.

Braves acquired OF Matt Kemp and cash considerations from the Padres in exchange for OF/3B Hector Olivera.

It's essentially a straight salary dump as the Padres have already designated Olivera for assignment. The Padres have gutted their major league roster by trading away James Shields, Fernando Rodney, Drew Pomeranz, Melvin Upton, Andrew Cashner, Colin Rea and now Kemp. The 31-year-old has had a productive year so far, hitting .262 with 23 HR and 69 RBI. He's been especially hot since the All-Star break, batting .315 in the second half with seven round-trippers in only 54 at-bats. He won't have a great lineup around him in Atlanta but fantasy owners shouldn't be concerned.
Jul 30 - 10:34 PM

Brad Miller went 2-for-4 with a home run to help the Rays top the Yankees 6-3 on Saturday.

Miller hit his 16th home run of the season in the first inning off Yankees starter Nathan Eovaldi. It was his fifth in his last nine games, a stretch in which he has five multi-hit games. It's shaping up to be a career year in all aspects for the 26-year-old, who's hitting .253/.301/.479 with 38 RBI, 43 runs scored and four steals on the year.
