Yordano Ventura navigated his way through seven innings, yielding only two runs (one earned) en route to his eighth win of the season on Thursday against the Twins.

As he has been at several points throughout the season, Ventura was a bit sloppy with his control, but was otherwise strong. The Twins drew three walks but managed only five hits -- including a solo home run from Danny Santana -- while Ventura struck out seven. The 23-year-old has had a fine rookie campaign, sporting a 3.50 ERA with a 102/39 K/BB ratio. Ventura will toe the rubber in Arizona against the Diamondbacks next week.

Justin Verlander struck out 11 while allowing two runs in a complete-game, 3-2 win over the Astros on Saturday.

Verlander was dominant for most of the evening, allowing just five hits and a walk, but the Astros turned three of those hits into two runs in the top of the ninth inning to put Verlander's gem in jeopardy. The Tigers offense came to his aid, though, scoring two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to give Verlander his 11th win. The right-hander has been vintage Verlander for much of the year, posting a 3.54 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 155/40 K/BB ratio over 147 1/3 innings. An interleague date with the Mets is on tap for Friday.

Padres acquired OF Hector Olivera from the Braves in exchange for OF Matt Kemp; designated him for assignment.

He won't be officially DFA'd until Tuesday when he comes off the suspended list. Olivera's career has hit the skids following his April arrest for assault and battery. The 31-year-old obviously offers an intriguing skill set but it remains to be seen if anyone is willing to take on his off-field baggage. He's hit .245 with two homers and 13 RBI over 98 major league at-bats.

Braves acquired OF Matt Kemp and cash considerations from the Padres in exchange for OF/3B Hector Olivera.

It's essentially a straight salary dump as the Padres have already designated Olivera for assignment. The Padres have gutted their major league roster by trading away James Shields, Fernando Rodney, Drew Pomeranz, Melvin Upton, Andrew Cashner, Colin Rea and now Kemp. The 31-year-old has had a productive year so far, hitting .262 with 23 HR and 69 RBI. He's been especially hot since the All-Star break, batting .315 in the second half with seven round-trippers in only 54 at-bats. He won't have a great lineup around him in Atlanta but fantasy owners shouldn't be concerned.

Brad Miller went 2-for-4 with a home run to help the Rays top the Yankees 6-3 on Saturday.

Miller hit his 16th home run of the season in the first inning off Yankees starter Nathan Eovaldi. It was his fifth in his last nine games, a stretch in which he has five multi-hit games. It's shaping up to be a career year in all aspects for the 26-year-old, who's hitting .253/.301/.479 with 38 RBI, 43 runs scored and four steals on the year.

The Padres are expected to designate Hector Olivera for assignment when his trade to San Diego is complete, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

The Braves couldn't wait to get rid of Olivera after his arrest and subsequent 82-game suspension and now it looks like the Padres can't either. Olivera is still owed $28.5 million, though his deal will be voided if he goes to prison. Once a promising prospect, Olivera's MLB future is starting to look bleak. The Braves are receiving Matt Kemp as compensation and will also get about $10-12 million from the Padres to cover the rest of his salary.
Jul 30 - 9:17 PM

Colin Rea left Saturday's start against the Cardinals with right elbow soreness.

That's obviously not how he wanted his Marlins debut to go. Rea pitched well before he got hurt, allowing just one hit over 3 1/3 shutout innings. The Marlins are calling him day-to-day. Jose Urena or Justin Nicolino could be called on if Rea is unable to make his next start, which seems likely.
Jul 30 - 9:10 PM

Wade Davis is flying back to Kansas City for an MRI on his right forearm.

Davis hasn't looked sharp since his return from the disabled list (4.15 ERA in five appearances) and now we might have a better idea why. The right-hander missed the minimum 15 days when he suffered a strained forearm earlier this month but apparently the pain hasn't subsided much. An extended absence would be a huge blow to both the Royals and his fantasy owners. Davis had been drawing some trade interest but we're guessing those talks are on hold now.
Jul 30 - 8:59 PM

The Padres have agreed to trade OF Matt Kemp to the Braves in exchange for OF/3B Hector Olivera.

The deal will become official as soon as both players complete their physicals. The Padres are sending Atlanta $10-12 million to cover part of Kemp's salary. The Braves have been wanting to move on from Olivera since his arrest in April and the Padres are trying to turn all their big league assets into prospects, so the deal works for both sides. Kemp will be playing in a more hitter-friendly park in Atlanta but RBI opportunities could be scarce in a depleted Braves lineup. Ultimately this shouldn't have a drastic impact on his fantasy value.

Ryan Braun (side) was a late scratch Saturday against the Pirates.

Braun was hoping to return after missing two games with right side tightness but apparently the injury is still lingering. His absence has nothing to do with recent trade rumors. Ramon Flores will take over in left field and bat seventh against Pirates right-hander Jameson Taillon. Consider Braun day-to-day.
Jul 30 - 7:39 PM

Yasiel Puig (hamstring) remained out of the Dodgers' lineup Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Puig made a pinch-hitting appearance on Friday night but the Dodgers are going to play it safe by keeping him out one more day. Andrew Toles will take his spot in right field and bat seventh against D'Backs right-hander Braden Shipley. Manager Dave Roberts said he expects Puig to return for Sunday's series finale.
Jul 30 - 7:34 PM

Rich Hill (finger) felt good after throwing a 60-pitch bullpen session on Saturday.

Hill had his blister covered for the first 45 pitches but took it off for the last 15. Assuming he isn't traded, Hill should return to the A's rotation either Thursday against the Angels or Friday versus the Cubs. He left his last start on July 17 after throwing just five pitches.
