Marlins designated RHP Jacob Turner for assignment.

Turner had a 3.74 ERA over 20 starts with the Marlins last season, but he has regressed in a big way this year by posting a 5.97 ERA in 12 starts and eight relief appearances. However, his strikeout and walk rates have improved and his velocity has been on the rise this year. Still, it's quite a fall from grace for the 23-year-old, who was once considered a top prospect during his days as a Tigers farmhand and was a key piece in the Anibal Sanchez deal. Surely someone will take a chance on him given the potential upside -- and perhaps the Marlins already have a trade in mind for him -- but his career has been a disappointment thus far.

Travis d'Arnaud's (finger) return from the disabled list will be delayed due to a bone bruise in his wrist.

It's not clear at this point how he suffered the injury or how long it will set him back. D'Arnaud had been slated for activation from the disabled list next week. He's been on the shelf since April 20 with a fractured right pinkie finger.
May 29 - 5:36 PM

Erick Aybar (hamstring) is not in the Angels' lineup Friday.

Aybar tweaked his left hamstring during Thursday's contest. He's not expected to require a stint on the disabled list, but he could need a few days off. Taylor Featherston is at shortstop in his place.
May 29 - 5:20 PM

Avisail Garcia (knee) remained out of the White Sox' lineup Friday.

Garcia hasn't played since aggravating his right knee injury during Monday's game. He is progressing, though, as he did some running and will hit and take flyballs during batting practice before the game. It sounds like he could be back in the lineup at some point over the weekend. J.B. Shuck is in right field Friday.
May 29 - 4:50 PM

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Friday that Matt Wieters (elbow) will be activated from the disabled list on June 5.

He's eligible to be activated on June 4, but it appears the O's will have Wieters join them in Cleveland rather than a day earlier in Houston. Showalter added that the catcher will have no physical restrictions when he returns, so it sounds like fantasy owners can count on him being in the lineup regularly.
May 29 - 4:38 PM

Cardinals activated OF Jon Jay from the 15-day disabled list.

Jay missed the last couple weeks with tendinitis in his surgically-repaired left wrist. He's not in Friday's lineup and with Randal Grichuk and Peter Bourjos playing well, Jay will likely have to share the center field job.
May 29 - 4:34 PM

Johnny Cueto (elbow) will not be ready to start on Sunday against the Nationals as hoped.

It doesn't appear that Cueto has had another setback, but rather the Reds just want to give him some more time. They're hoping he'll be ready to take the ball sometime during the series with the Phillies that begins next Tuesday. Michael Lorenzen will start Sunday.
May 29 - 3:44 PM

Steven Souza (wrist) is back in the Rays' lineup Friday.

Souza hasn't played since spraining his left wrist in a home plate collision on Sunday. He's really struggled of late with just four hits in his last 26 at-bats.
May 29 - 3:18 PM

Astros placed RHP Scott Feldman on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 27, with a right knee meniscus tear.

It's not clear when he suffered the injury, but Feldman has already undergone surgery and will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks. Michael Feliz has taken Feldman's spot on the roster, but it's expected to be Brett Oberholtzer who enters the rotation in the righty's place.
May 29 - 3:12 PM

Phillies designated OF Grady Sizemore for assignment.

The Phils re-signed Sizemore to a $2 million contract over the winter after he was decent for them down the stretch last season, but he's hit just .245/.288/.296 with no homers in 39 games this season. He's at least managed to stay healthy for a while now, but the 32-year-old just doesn't look to have anything left in the tank.
May 29 - 2:29 PM

Brewers activated SS Jean Segura from the 15-day disabled list.

Segura fractured his right pinkie finger 15 days ago, but he didn't even need a rehab assignment and returns after missing the minimum amount of time. The speedy shortstop is batting .262/.306/.373 with two home runs and six stolen bases in 33 games this season.
May 29 - 2:23 PM

Lynn Henning of the Detroit News reports that Victor Martinez (knee) could be sidelined until after the All-Star break.

The Tigers haven't set a timetable for Martinez's return as he battles soreness in his surgically-repaired left knee, but Henning notes that it's "going to be a slow process." V-Mart has begun rehabbing the knee, but it appears it's going to be a long time before he's game-ready again.
