Mark Buehrle fell to 11-8 after allowing four runs in four innings in a loss to the Orioles on Tuesday.

Buehrle, perhaps predictably, has struggled since soaring to a 10-1 start with a 2.10 ERA through his first 12 starts. In 11 starts since, including Tuesday, he has a 4-7 record with a 4.73 ERA. He allowed a whopping 10 hits and three walks to the Orioles in his four innings. Now with a 3.27 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 85/40 K/BB ratio, the lefty will try to stop the bleeding with Sunday's home start against the Tigers.

Nelson Cruz went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, five RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 11-1 win over the A's.

Monster showing from Cruz in this one. He started off his RBI binge in modest enough fashion, driving home a run via a bases-loaded walk in the third inning. He opted to forego the modesty a few innings later, slugging a three-run home run in the seventh to boost the Mariners to a 9-1 advantage. Just for good measure, he tacked on an RBI double in the ninth. The veteran slugger has yet to go on a power tear, but that could be coming soon. Cruz has picked up hits in eight of his last 10 games, with all three of his home runs coming in that space. He has crushed at least 40 in each of the last three seasons.
Apr 23 - 8:25 PM

Taylor Motter went 2-for-5 with a grand slam and a double in Sunday's 11-1 win over the A's.

Motter unloaded for the grand slam against the previously-untouchable Andrew Triggs in the third inning. That gave the Mariners a 6-1 lead, one which the A's were unable to ever challenge to any serious degree. The 27-year-old shortstop owns a .255/.321/.667 triple-slash to pair with five home runs and 12 RBI across 51 at-bats. His start has been one of the more surprising in the bigs to date.
Apr 23 - 8:17 PM

Shelby Miller was removed from Sunday's start against the Dodgers in the fifth inning due to tightness in his forearm.

The right-hander will be re-evaluated on Monday. While there has been no announcement regarding an estimate on how long he'll be sidelined, it's likely that Miller will miss at least his next start. Look for an update from the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Apr 23 - 7:42 PM

Marcus Stroman tossed a complete game in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Angels, surrendering two runs (on earned) on seven hits.

Second complete game of the season for Stroman, who struck out five and walked one on the afternoon. He surrendered solitary runs in the third and ninth innings, but otherwise kept the scoreboard clean. This was a huge rebound performance for Stroman, who was rocked for six runs on 11 hits by the Red Sox in his last outing. He will try to replicate Sunday's result in a home start against the Rays next time he toes the rubber.
Apr 23 - 6:43 PM

Joc Pederson was removed from Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks due to right groin tightness.

It's unclear when exactly the outfielder sustained the injury or how much time he may stand to miss. Kike Hernandez replaced him in center field on Sunday and would stand to see additional playing time if Pederson is forced to miss any time.
Apr 23 - 6:31 PM

Shelby Miller was forced to leave Sunday's start against the Dodgers due to an undisclosed injury.

The right-hander received a visit from the team's trainer during the fifth inning where the decision was made to pull him. He had hurled four shutout innings entering the fifth before walking the first two hitters and giving up an RBI double to Corey Seager. Expect an update from the Diamondbacks on his status after the conclusion of Sunday's game.
Apr 23 - 6:22 PM

Kyle Freeland pitched beautifully in Sunday's 8-0 win over the Giants, firing off seven innings of scoreless ball.

Freeland scattered six hits and walked only one on the afternoon. The lack of runners on base -- plus only three strikeouts recorded -- allowed for a very low pitch count, as he exited after seven innings having thrown a mere 93 pitches (57 strikes). Through four starts, the 23-year-old southpaw is pitching to a 3.32 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 14/10 K/BB ratio across 21 2/3 innings. Outside of a six-run blowup against the Padres on April 12, Freeland has surrendered just two runs combined in his other three starts (17 innings). A road showdown with the Diamondbacks shows next on his schedule.
Apr 23 - 6:01 PM

Kolten Wong went 2-for-2 with an RBI, two walks, a stolen base, and two runs scored Sunday in the Cardinals' 6-4 defeat of the Brewers.

Wong made an error in the sixth inning and was picked off at second base by Brewers catcher Manny Pina in the third inning, but it was a positive afternoon overall for the 26-year-old second baseman. He's batting .229/.339/.417 with one home run, eight RBI, two stolen bases, and five runs scored through 17 games this season for St. Louis.
Apr 23 - 5:46 PM

Derek Holland picked up his second victory of the season on Sunday, limiting the Indians to just one run on three hits over six strong innings.

The veteran southpaw walked three on the afternoon. The only damage against him came on a solo homer off the bat of Francisco Lindor in the fourth inning. Holland has actually done a very nice job so far for the White Sox, compiling a 1.99 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 19/9 K/BB ratio in 22 2/3 innings. He could be worth a look as a streaming option against a depleted Tigers' offense in Detroit on Saturday.
Apr 23 - 5:32 PM

Andrew Benintendi went 5-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored Sunday as the Red Sox beat the Orioles.

Benintendi became the youngest Red Sox player to register five hits in a game since Tony Conigliaro back in April 1967. The 22-year-old outfielder is batting .347/.415/.444 with one home run, 11 RBI, two stolen bases, and 10 runs scored through 18 games this season. He has 56 hits in 52 career major league games.
Apr 23 - 5:19 PM

Ken Giles worked a scoreless 10th inning to earn his fifth save Sunday versus the Rays.

Giles gave up a one-out single to Brad Miller but retired the other three batters he faced. The hard-throwing right-hander has looked sharp in four straight appearances after fighting through a rough stretch. He still carries top-tier closer potential on a very good Astros team.
