Roberto Hernandez told reporters that he is starting for the Dodgers on Friday in Milwaukee.

That's the rotation spot that belongs to Josh Beckett, who has been a mess over the past couple of weeks. Hernandez was acquired from the Phillies on Thursday afternoon for two players to be named later. He had a 3.87 ERA in 121 innings with Philadelphia, but the right-hander's lack of control and poor strikeout rate make him a poor fantasy bet no matter where he's pitching.

Matt Carpenter is not in Monday's lineup against the Reds.

The Cardinals are fighting to keep pace in the Wild Card race, but both Carpenter and Aledmys Diaz are out of the lineup Monday. Greg Garcia will start at second base and bat leadoff while Jedd Gyorko will play shortstop and hit seventh. Tim Adleman will start for the Reds.
Sep 26 - 4:57 PM

Roberto Osuna and Joaquin Benoit are expected to get the day off Monday.

Osuna has thrown 38 pitches over the past two days (including his blown save on Sunday) while Benoit threw 24 pitches on Sunday. Jason Grilli would likely get a save chance if needed Monday versus the Yankees.
Sep 26 - 4:44 PM

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Monday that Nick Castellanos (hand) could return by the weekend.

Castellanos has been sidelined since August 6 with a fractured hand, but he was slated to play in an instructional league game on Monday. Barring any setbacks, he appears to be the verge of a return. The 24-year-old was batting .286 with 18 homers and an .831 OPS in 105 games prior to the injury.
Sep 26 - 4:38 PM

Gregory Polanco (face) is out of the Pirates' lineup again Monday against the Cubs.

Polanco hasn't played since he suffered a left facial contusion when he collided face-first into the left field on Friday. It's unclear when he'll be ready to return to action. Josh Bell is starting in right field on Monday while John Jaso will play first base.
Sep 26 - 4:34 PM

Starling Marte (back) remains out of the Pirates' lineup Monday versus the Cubs.

Marte hasn't played since Thursday due to nagging back spasms. He's iffy for the final week, so fantasy owners should have a backup plan at the ready. Adam Frazier will make the start in left field and bat seventh against Kyle Hendricks.
Sep 26 - 4:30 PM

Nelson Cruz (wrist) is in Monday's lineup against the Astros.

Cruz exited Sunday's game after experiencing soreness in his left wrist, but it's not going to keep him out of the lineup. He'll serve as the DH and bat cleanup against Collin McHugh.
Sep 26 - 4:12 PM

Marlins activated LHP Adam Conley from the 15-day disabled list.

Conley was supposed to return to the Marlins' rotation on Sunday against the Braves, but that game was cancelled following the death of Miami ace Jose Fernandez. The left-handed Conley will now pitch Monday versus the Mets and Bartolo Colon. He missed six weeks with tendinitis in his left middle finger.
Sep 26 - 3:31 PM

Bryce Harper (thumb) is absent from the Nationals' starting lineup on Monday night.

Harper injured his left thumb Sunday when he slid awkwardly into third base after a fake tag by Jung Ho Kang. He is scheduled to undergo X-rays at some point Monday. Brian Goodwin will start in right field and bat seventh in the Nationals' series opener against the Diamondbacks.
Sep 26 - 3:26 PM

Daniel Murphy (glute) remains shut down Monday.

Murphy has missed seven straight starts due to a strained left glute and it sounds like he won't be very active in this final week. But the star second baseman should be ready for the beginning of the NLDS. He has a .347/.391/.596 batting line, 25 homers, and 104 RBI in 141 games this season for the NL East-champion Nationals.
Sep 26 - 3:22 PM

Reds placed SS Zack Cozart on the 15-day disabled list.

Cozart hadn't appeared in a game since September 10 due to a nagging right knee injury and he won't play in another game this season. This was really just a procedural move. The 31-year-old shortstop finishes with a .252/.308/.425 batting line, 16 homers, 50 RBI, four steals, and 67 runs scored. He'll be arbitration-eligible for the final time this winter after making $2.925 million in 2016.
Sep 26 - 2:53 PM

Dexter Fowler is out of the Cubs' starting lineup on Monday night against the Pirates.

Ben Zobrist will also take a seat for the National League Central-champion Cubs. Albert Almora is starting in center field and batting seventh, with Javier Baez covering second base and hitting eighth. Chris Coghlan is at leadoff versus Bucs right-hander Chad Kuhl.
