Garrett Richards picked up his 13th victory of the season on Friday, limiting the Rangers to just two runs on seven hits over 7 1/3 innings.

Richards racked up seven strikeouts on the night without issuing a walk. He has been dominant for the Halos this season, compiling a 2.53 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 164/50 K/BB ratio over his 167 innings of work. He’ll look to keep things rolling when he does battle against the A's in Oakland on Wednesday.

Starlin Castro is out of the Yankees' lineup Saturday against the Mariners.

Jul 22 - 6:59 PM

Brandon Phillips (hamstring) is out of the Braves' lineup Saturday against the Dodgers.

Jul 22 - 6:56 PM

Justin Turner (illness) is not in the Dodgers' lineup Saturday against the Braves.

Turner is feeling under the weather, though manager Dave Roberts said he'll be available off the bench and should return to the starting lineup on Sunday. Logan Forsythe will man the hot corner in his place and hit fifth against Braves hurler Julio Teheran. Turner has hit .304 with a homer and three RBI since the All-Star break.
Jul 22 - 5:46 PM

Miguel Cabrera (collarbone) is not in the Tigers' lineup Saturday against the Twins.

Cabrera left Friday night's game with a bruised collarbone and is still feeling the effects. Andrew Romine will draw the start at first base and bat eighth against Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson. Cabrera's X-rays came back negative and the Tigers are calling him day-to-day.
Jul 22 - 5:43 PM

Pirates placed OF Gregory Polanco on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.

The Pirates called up left-hander Steven Brault from Triple-A Indianapolis in the corresponding move. Polanco has been phenomenal this month, batting .387 with three homers and nine RBI since July 1. It's a tough blow for the Pirates' offense, though it's softened by the return of Starling Marte, who is back after serving an 80-game PED suspension.
Jul 22 - 5:30 PM

Byron Buxton (groin) will not require a minor league rehab assignment.

Buxton will travel with the team for their upcoming series against the Dodgers and could be activated for Tuesday's series opener. That would be the first day he's eligible to come off the disabled list. Buxton has made a rapid recovery after suffering a strained groin in his first game back from the All-Star break last Friday.
Jul 22 - 5:00 PM

Updating a previous item, Troy Tulowitzki is missing Saturday's game against the Indians with a groin injury.

Manager John Gibbons is hoping to have him back in a day or two but because of the team's short bench, the Jays would probably place Tulowitzki on the disabled list if the injury lingers past Monday. Ryan Goins drew the start at shortstop on Saturday.
Jul 22 - 4:52 PM

Asdrubal Cabrera is starting at third base Saturday against the Athletics.

It will be his first career start at third base and only his second MLB appearance at the hot corner after playing part of one game there as a rookie in 2007. The Mets, who have already moved Cabrera once this season (and he wasn't happy about it), are transitioning Cabrera to third with second baseman Neil Walker expected to come back off the disabled list any day now. Surely the Mets are also hoping Cabrera's versatility will make him more appealing to teams at the trade deadline.
Jul 22 - 4:37 PM

Kris Bryant (finger) returned to the Cubs' starting lineup on Saturday.

There had been rumblings that Bryant could sit out the entire weekend with his finger injury, but it looks as though he's good to go. The 25-year-old is slashing .275/.401/.528 with 19 homers and 40 RBI in 320 at-bats this year.
Jul 22 - 1:18 PM

Brewers optioned OF Keon Broxton to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Broxton possesses a dazzling blend of power and speed, and has clubbed 14 home runs and swiped 17 bases this season, but he also owns a 124/27 K/BB ratio in 326 plate appearances and is mired in a 3-for-50 slump. The Brewers hope to get him back on track again before bringing him back for a potential pennant race.
Jul 22 - 1:07 PM

Diamondbacks recalled LHP Anthony Banda from Triple-A Reno.

The 23-year-old southpaw will make his big league debut on Saturday against the Nationals. While he's talented, he owns a troublesome 5.08 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 93/43 K/BB ratio across 101 innings at Triple-A Reno. He should be avoided for his debut against a hard-hitting Nationals' squad.
