An ultrasound has revealed that the setback Anibal Sanchez (pectoral) suffered Monday was as a result of scar tissue breaking up.

It's good news all things considered, but Sanchez is essentially back to where he was when he first suffered the injury on August 8. "The ultrasound says I've got full motion, and I feel really good on that," Sanchez said. "Right now, I'm just like back at the first day [of the injury], heating and cooling the area." The Tigers are hopeful that the right-hander will make it back before the end of the season, but it's no guarantee. Kyle Lobstein will fill the fifth spot in the rotation for now.

Erasmo Ramirez pitched superbly in a 3-0 win over the Orioles on Saturday, allowing just three hits and striking out seven across seven innings.

The Orioles had no answer here. In addition to the seven strikeouts, Ramirez walked just one. It was a much-needed rebound for the righty, who allowed five runs to the A's in his last start and is working with a 5.53 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 36/17 K/BB ratio over 42 1/3+ innings. He'll try to build off this outing when he takes to the road against the Mariners in his next start.

Saturday's game between the Cubs and the Royals has been postponed due to rain.

The game will be made up on September 28. Yordano Ventura and Tsuyoshi Wada will have their starts pushed back to Sunday.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Yasiel Puig (hamstring) could begin a rehab assignment late next week.

He's been running at the team's spring training facility in Arizona. Puig was close to returning earlier this month but suffered a setback during a rehab assignment with High-A Rancho Cucamonga. He hasn't played with the Dodgers since April 24.

Athletics placed LHP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) on the 15-day disabled list.

You could see the writing on the wall after Doolittle missed fielding practice on Saturday. His velocity was way down Wednesday and it's clear he's still battling a nagging shoulder injury. Oakland recalled RHP Angel Castro from Triple-A Nashville in the corresponding roster move.
May 30 - 5:30 PM

Brian Dozier delivered a go-ahead RBI triple in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.

With the score tied in the bottom of the seventh, Dozier drove a ball to the right-center field gap and Ezequiel Carrera came up empty-handed while attempting a diving catch, which allowed Aaron Hicks to score the go-ahead. Dozier finished the day 1-for-4 and is batting .247/.325/.500 with nine home runs, 25 RBI, and three stolen bases over 47 games this season. He's not stealing as many bases as fantasy owners expected, but the added power is making up for it.
May 30 - 5:14 PM

Sean Doolittle did not participate in Saturday's fielding practice and could be headed back to the disabled list.

Doolittle looked uncomfortable playing catch Friday and topped out at 89 mph Wednesday in his return from the disabled list. The rotator cuff injury that kept him out for the first eight weeks of the season might still be bothering him. Tyler Clippard will remain the closer while Doolittle works through his injury.
May 30 - 5:08 PM

Khris Davis left Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks with left knee soreness.

Davis swung awkwardly on a strikeout in his first at-bat and was replaced by Gerardo Parra in left field the following inning. It's bad timing for fantasy owners as Davis had six hits in his previous ten at-bats before getting hurt.
May 30 - 4:46 PM

The Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro reports that the Diamondbacks are moving closer to putting Addison Reed back into the closer's role.

Brad Ziegler is a better pitcher than Reed, but the Diamondbacks would still be better off with Ziegler in a setup role, since he can be better spotted against right-handed hitters then than he can as the ninth-inning guy. Reed doesn't have such significiant platoon splits.
May 30 - 3:37 PM

Bryce Harper was scratched from Saturday's lineup after being hit in the back by a pitch during Friday's game.

It's the first time this season he's been held out of the lineup. Michael Taylor is starting in his place today, with Clint Robinson moving from left field to right.
May 30 - 2:49 PM

Nationals placed RHP Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day disabled list with neck tightness.

A 15-day break certainly can't hurt Strasburg after the roughest patch he's dealt with as a pro. Considering that the Nats are labeling this tightness, as opposed to even a strain or something worse, it doesn't figure that he'll be out for long. A.J. Cole and Taylor Jordan should be the top candidates to replace him in the rotation. It might come down to whether Jordan is needed in the pen before Strasburg's turn comes up.
May 30 - 2:29 PM

Avisail Garcia (knee) is back in the White Sox starting lineup Saturday versus the Astros.

Garcia missed several games with discomfort in his right knee. The rest should do him some good in the long term. He's batting .327/.365/.456 with four home runs and 18 RBI in 39 games this season for the Pale Hose.
