Buster Posey went 5-for-5 with a triple, three RBI, and three runs scored as the Giants routed the Brewers on Friday.

It's the second five-hit game of Posey's career, and it continues the catcher's fantastic month of August. Since the beginning of the month, Posey is batting .350 (36-for-103). He singled in a run in the second inning and tripled in two more in the fifth. Posey owns a .297/.352/.472 slash line with 18 home runs and 71 RBI.

Jose Bautista went 2-for-2 with three walks, a solo home run, and four runs scored as the Blue Jays emerged victorious against the Yankees on Saturday.

A huge night for Bautista, who continues to pad his sterling numbers. He hit his 34th home run of the season in the seventh inning off of Chase Whitley, extending the Jays' lead to 5-2 at the time. Batusta has knocked in 101 runs and slashed .284/.405/.527 on the season.

Ken Giles converted the first save of his career, sending the Athletics down in order in Saturday's victory.

Giles is the interim closer while Jonathan Papelbon serves his seven-game suspension. The 24-year-old closer has put up fantastic numbers in his first season in the big leagues, sporting a 1.24 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 63/11 K/BB ratio in 43 2/3 innings. If Papelbon remains in Philadelphia, saves will still be hard to come by for Giles next season.
Sep 20 - 7:13 PM

Eddie Butler earned his first major league win after limiting the D'Backs to one run over six innings on Saturday.

It was a marked improvement over his previous start in which he allowed six runs over 5 1/3 innings against the Dodgers on June 6. The rookie right-hander scattered five hits and a walk while striking out one. The only mistake he made occurred in the fifth inning, when Jake Lamb hit a solo home run. It is not known yet whether Butler will get another turn in the rotation.
Sep 20 - 7:02 PM

Mark Teixeira exited Saturday's game because of renewed soreness in his troublesome right wrist.

It might be time for Teixeira to shut it down. Brendan Ryan replaced him at first base today. The Yankees could give Brian McCann some starts there during the final week, opening up time for Francisco Cervelli, John Ryan Murphy and Austin Romine behind the plate.
Sep 20 - 6:22 PM

Chris Coghlan had a monster day Saturday against the Dodgers, capped with a go-ahead two-run homer in an eventual 8-7 victory.

The Cubs trailed 7-2 before scoring four runs in the seventh inning and two more on Coghlan's blast off Brian Wilson in the eighth. He finished the day 4-for-4 with two homers, a double, a walk, three RBI, and three runs scored. It was the third two-homer game of his career. Coghlan has been a nice surprise with the Cubs this season, batting .283/.349/.449 with eight home runs, 38 RBI, and six stolen bases over 118 games.
Sep 20 - 6:00 PM

Adrian Gonzalez homered twice and knocked in five runs Saturday against the Cubs.

A-Gone connected for a two-run homer in the first inning before adding a three-run blast in the third. He's now up to 25 homers on the year and leads the majors with 111 RBI.
Sep 20 - 5:58 PM

Max Scherzer picked up his 17th victory of the season on Saturday, limiting the Royals to one run on seven hits over seven strong innings of work.

Scherzer punched out six on the afternoon while issuing only one free pass. The only damage against him came on an RBI single off the bat of Alcides Escobar in the fifth inning. Now 17-7 on the year, he will head into Thursday’s matchup against the Twins with a 3.19 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 243/59 K/BB ratio.
Sep 20 - 4:42 PM

Nationals activated INF Ryan Zimmerman from the 15-day disabled list.

Zimmerman missed 55 games with a torn hamstring, but has taken at-bats in extended spring training games in recent days and is ready for a return. He will bat sixth and start in left field on Saturday. The Nationals will ease him back into action though, so fantasy owners shouldn't expect him to play every night over the final week of the regular season.
Sep 20 - 3:12 PM

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said late Friday that there is a "distinct possibility" that Jacoby Ellsbury (hamstring) will be shut down for the remainder of the 2014 season.

Ellsbury sustained a strained hamstring in Friday's win over the Blue Jays and is set to undergo an MRI on Saturday. With the Yankees playoff hopes all but finished, there's no reason to rush Ellsbury back and risk further aggravation.
Sep 20 - 8:45 AM

Dustin Ackley had big night at the plate Friday against the Astros, going 2-for-4 with two solo home runs, a walk, and three runs scored.

It was the second multi-homer game of his career. Ackley came into Friday's action 3-for-35 (.086) this month. The Mariners and fantasy owners will have to hope that the big game will get him going again.
Sep 20 - 1:15 AM

Michael Cuddyer clobbered a grand slam and drove home a career-high seven runs as the Rockies routed the Diamondbacks 15-3 in Colorado on Friday.

Cuddyer did all of his damage in the second half of the ballgame, smashing his grand slam in the sixth inning, then delivering a bases-clearing double with the bases loaded his next time up in the eighth. There's no doubting his production when he's been on the field, but unfortunately for fantasy owners that hasn't been often enough this season.
