Kenley Jansen struck out two batters in a clean ninth inning Sunday as the Dodgers beat the Reds 8-7.

Los Angeles was up 8-1 at one point, but the Reds made it a game against the Dodgers' bullpen. That is, until Jansen took the mound. He induced a pop-out from Adam Duvall and then punched out Scott Schebler and Eugenio Suarez to earn his 15th save of 2017. Jansen holds a dominant 0.91 ERA, 0.57 WHIP, and 50/0 K/BB ratio in 29 2/3 innings this season.

Mariners pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre confirmed Tuesday that Drew Smyly (elbow) has experienced a setback.

Smyly had been set to throw a second simulated game Wednesday, but that was scratched and now we know why. There's currently no timetable for when he'll return to the mound, so it sounds like it could be a significant setback. Smyly has been out all season with a strained flexor bundle in his pitching elbow.

Jon Gray (foot) will rejoin the Rockies' rotation on Friday in Arizona.

We knew it was going to be at some point this weekend and now we have an official date. Gray has been on the shelf since mid-April with a stress fracture in his left foot but got through a rehab assignment with no issues.

Tyler Anderson will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

Anderson has made two trips to the disabled list this month with a knee issue and the decision has been made to have it operated on. He's expected to be sidelined for around four weeks, so the left-hander could still be a big part of the Rockies' rotation in the second half.

Yasiel Puig is dealing with a sore knee in addition to a sore hamstring.

Puig sat out Sunday with a sore hamstring, and although he returned to action Monday he didn't look very comfortable. Now, he's apparently nursing a sore knee, as well. It looks like a day-to-day situation. Trayce Thompson is in right field Tuesday.
Jun 27 - 7:39 PM

Corey Seager (hamstring) remained out of the Dodgers' lineup Tuesday.

Seager hasn't played since suffering a Grade 1 right hamstring strain last Friday. He is set to go through another workout prior to Tuesday's game to see if he's able to avoid the disabled list. Enrique Hernandez is handling shortstop again.
Jun 27 - 6:38 PM

Matt Holliday (fatigue) remained out of the Yankees' lineup Tuesday.

Holliday hasn't played since Saturday due to fatigue, telling manager Joe Girardi that "it feels like someone zapped me of all my energy." The club could send him back to New York to undergo more tests if he doesn't feel better soon. The Yankees have Tyler Austin in the designated hitter spot and Austin Romine at first base.
Jun 27 - 6:28 PM

Carlos Gomez is not in Tuesday's lineup because of a sore back.

It doesn't sound like a big deal, but the Rangers figured it would be best to give him a little rest. Delino DeShields is in center field.
Jun 27 - 5:10 PM

Danny Salazar (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Akron on Saturday.

Salazar went through a simulated game on Monday with no issues, clearing the way for him to return to official game action. It's unclear how many rehab outings he'll need, but the Indians figure to proceed cautiously with him. Salazar had been demoted to the bullpen prior to being placed on the DL with a sore shoulder.

Yankees placed 2B Starlin Castro on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.

Castro suffered the injury on Monday while running out a groundball. The good news is it's only a Grade 1 strain and he thinks he has a chance to be back when his 10 days are up. Tyler Wade is replacing Castro on the roster and figures to play a lot at second base. Ronald Torreyes is starting there Tuesday, and Rob Refsnyder is also an option.
Jun 27 - 4:44 PM

Brandon Finnegan (shoulder) will be placed back on the disabled list.

Finnegan re-injured himself on Monday while making his first start since mid-April. The Reds initially said is was a left triceps strain, but now they say he's dealing with another shoulder injury that's in a different spot that his first ailment. He's sidelined indefinitely and it's beginning to look like a lost season for the southpaw.

Padres activated OF Manuel Margot from the 10-day disabled list.

Margot has been sidelined for a little over a month with a strained calf. He went just 3-for-20 (.150) during his rehab assignment, but the rookie outfielder feels healthy and that's really all the Padres care about.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: The Padres bats aren't too appealing on a full slate against Sean Newcomb, but starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin has viability in his home park. Chacin owns a surprisingly solid 6.4 Hd-Sft% at home to go along with a 55% GB rate and just five HRs allowed in 47 IP. He’s been fortunate from a BABIP perspective, but sets up as a fine mid-range play for those looking to pay a premium for bats. Atlanta owns the 5th lowest team total on the slate.
