MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reports that talks between the Twins and Mike Napoli "aren’t as intense as being reported" and there's "nothing even close to imminent."

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reported earlier Monday that the two sides were in "serious talks," but Feinsand hears that while the Twins like Napoli, nothing is close to getting done. The fit makes sense, as Napoli shouldn't cost much and gives the Twins a designated hitter candidate and occasional fill-in at first base. Napoli had surgery earlier this offseason to repair a torn ligament in his right hand, but he should be fine for spring training.

Scott Schebler (shoulder) expects to be activated from the disabled list when eligible next Wednesday.

Schebler is dealing with a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder, which he suffered when he banged into the outfield wall last Saturday. Apparently he got good news when he was checked out Friday. Schebler is batting .278/.351/.470 with 12 home runs this season.
Jul 20 - 5:48 PM

Tigers placed RHP Michael Fulmer on the 10-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.

This should officially put to bed any rumors that the young right-hander might be traded this season. Fulmer suffered the injury during his regular between-starts bullpen session on Friday. He surely won't be back before the end of the month.
Jul 20 - 5:39 PM

Drew Pomeranz (biceps) will rejoin the Red Sox' rotation Tuesday in Baltimore.

Pomeranz struck out five across six innings of one-run ball in his final rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Pawtucket to clear the way for his return to the majors. The left-hander has been out since early June with left biceps tendinitis and holds a 6.81 ERA over eight starts this season. He can't be trusted in fantasy leagues until he strings together a couple good outings.
Jul 20 - 5:35 PM

Rafael Devers (shoulder) could be activated from the disabled list Saturday.

Devers will go through a pregame workout Friday and the Red Sox will see how he responds to that before deciding whether or not to activate him Saturday. The young third baseman has been out of action for the last week and a half with left shoulder inflammation.
Jul 20 - 5:30 PM

Manny Machado is at shortstop and batting second in his Dodgers debut Friday.

Machado is expected to play a little third base for the Dodgers, too, but he's at shortstop in this one even with Justin Turner (hip) still out. The 26-year-old was acquired from the Orioles on Wednesday.
Jul 20 - 4:50 PM

Edwin Encarnacion (hand) is in the Indians' lineup Friday.

Encarnacion exited the final game before the All-Star break after taking a pitch off his left hand/forearm, but he's fine. He's at first base and batting cleanup against Martin Perez and the Rangers.
Jul 20 - 4:24 PM

Rangers recalled OF/DH Willie Calhoun from Triple-A Round Rock.

Calhoun got off to a slow start for Round Rock this season, but he batted .429/.520/.619 in July to push his season line up to .306/.360/.444 with eight home runs. He's in the designated hitter spot Friday and that could be where he sees most of his playing time, with Shin-Soo Choo getting more starts in the outfield while Nomar Mazara (thumb) is out.
Jul 20 - 4:17 PM

Rangers placed OF Nomar Mazara on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to July 17, with a sprained right thumb.

Mazara injured the thumb last Saturday and apparently the All-Star break wasn't enough for him to heal up. It's unclear at this point how long he might be sidelined. Willie Calhoun has replaced Mazara on the roster.
Jul 20 - 4:12 PM

Gleyber Torres (hip) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Tampa on Saturday.

The plan is for Torres to play a few games for Tampa and then rejoin the Yankees for the final game for their series against the Rays next Wednesday. The young infielder has been on the shelf for over two weeks with a strained right hip.
Jul 20 - 4:00 PM

Padres shortstop prospect Fernando Tatis Jr. is expected to be done for the season after X-rays revealed a fractured left thumb.

Tatis suffered the injury on a stolen base attempt Thursday at Double-A San Antonio. He is likely to need surgery, although there is still hope after the swelling goes down that an MRI shows he can avoid an operation. Either way, his season is over, but the good news is the Padres don't expect the ailment to be an issue for Tatis beyond this year. One of the top prospects in the game, Tatis will finish the season with a .286/.355/.507 batting line, 16 homers, 43 RBI and 16 steals in 88 games.
Jul 20 - 3:22 PM

Nationals activated 1B Ryan Zimmerman from the 10-day disabled list.

Zimmerman has been on the shelf since early May with an oblique strain but is finally ready to go after a 4-for-9 showing with a home run in three rehab games. He's surely going to require lots of days off, and the Nats have viable alternatives at first base in Matt Adams and Mark Reynolds. Zimmerman is not in the lineup Friday and he's more of a deeper league play at this point.
