Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Diamondbacks "remain engaged" with the Orioles on Manny Machado and have been the "most persistent" of the teams interested.

Rosenthal cautions that a trade isn't close and he expresses doubt that the Orioles will wind up dealing their star infielder to anyone. However, it sounds like the D'Backs might be the most likely landing spot if a trade does ultimately go down. Machado would take over as the Diamondbacks' shortstop, likely shifting Ketel Marte to second base and Chris Owings to a super utility role.

According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, the Nationals have engaged in multiple trade discussions regarding right-hander Tanner Roark.

Roark earned $6.475 million in 2018 and MLB Trade Rumors projects him to come close to $10 million in arbitration this winter, so the Nationals are looking at their options while also monitoring the free agent market for other starters. Of course, the Nats just bolstered their rotation with the addition of Patrick Corbin. Roark, 32, posted a 4.34 ERA and 146/50 K/BB ratio over 180 1/3 innings this past season.

Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports that the Yankees are "pushing hard" to make a trade with the Mets.

It's been reported that the Mets, Yankees and Marlins are discussing a three-way trade that would send J.T. Realmuto to the Mets and likely Noah Syndergaard to the Yankees. Martino says that the Yanks are interested in the Mets' pitching and it's "not necessarily limited to Syndergaard." Joel Sherman of the New York Post is hearing that while the Mets are working on multiple scenarios trying to land Realmuto, the one involving the Yankees "is not among the strongest." There might still be more to this story soon, so hang tight.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Mets have discussed a three-team trade with the Yankees and Marlins in which they would land J.T. Realmuto.

The Mets and Yankees haven't made a trade involving major leaguers since 2004, but Rosenthal says new Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen has been in "steady" talks with the Yanks since he was hired. Rosenthal adds that he's not sure whether Noah Syndergaard is part of the discussions but the Mets would not trade Syndergaard if they only get Realmuto in return. Andy Martino of SNY.tv says that Syndergaard going to the Yankees is a "real possibility," but there are "10 other scenarios" the Mets are considering. We're sure to hear more about this possible three-way deal as the Winter Meetings unfold.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Rays have maintained a "running dialogue" with Nelson Cruz.

The Rays have discussed some contract parameters with Cruz and his agent, Bryce Dixon, says the slugger is interested in Tampa. However, Cruz is also receiving interest from an additional 3-4 teams and is weighing his options. The Astros, White Sox and Twins have also been connected to the 38-year-old.

Robert Murray of The Athletic reports that the Brewers have expressed interest in Daniel Murphy.

Murray also confirms that the club is interested in re-signing Mike Moustakas, which has been reportedly previously. General manager David Stearns said Monday that the team is planning on Travis Shaw being their second baseman next season, but obviously the signing of Murphy or Moustakas would change that.

Miguel Cabrera (biceps) resumed swinging a bat earlier this month.

Cabrera had surgery in June to repair a ruptured left biceps tendon. He isn't totally out of the woods yet, but all signs point to him being ready to go at the beginning of spring training. Cabrera was limited to 38 games in 2018 and has dealt with numerous injuries the last few seasons. He will turn 36 in April.

Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen said Monday that Jake Lamb (shoulder) will play some first base next season in addition to third base.

Hazen noted that things can change depending on other potential moves the club makes this offseason, but it sounds like the plan is probably to play Lamb at first base and Eduardo Escobar at third base most days. Moving Lamb across the diamond makes sense, as he's coming back from shoulder surgery and isn't a great defender at the hot corner, anyway. Lamb hopes to be ready for the start of spring training.

Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that the Mets met with Wilson Ramos on Monday.

It's no secret that the Mets are looking for an upgrade at catcher this offseason and Ramos would certainly appear to be a good fit. The 31-year-old batted .306/.358/.487 with 15 homers and 70 RBI over 111 games between the Rays and Phillies in 2018.

Tigers signed RHP Tyson Ross to a one-year, $5.75 million contract.

The deal reportedly includes easily reachable incentives that would take it to an even $6 million. Ross posted a 4.15 ERA and 122/62 K/BB ratio across 149 2/3 innings for the Padres and Cardinals last season. The hope from the Tigers' perspective is that the right-hander will have a nice first half and bring back a prospect or two at the trade deadline.

Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said Monday that the team has made contract extension offers to Anthony Rendon.

Both the Nats and Rendon are reportedly interested in negotiating a long-term contract extension, but whether the club is able to make an enticing enough offer to convince the third baseman to forego free agency next winter remains to be seen. Rendon has batted .292/.374/.504 with 69 home runs over the last three seasons and is arbitration-eligible for a final time this winter.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman confirmed Monday that he's had "several conversations" with Manny Machado's agent, Dan Lozano, about the infielder.

Cashman did his best Monday to shoot down the possibility of the Yankees pursuing Bryce Harper, but he's not hiding the fact that his club is interested in the other big free agent fish. The GM said he has not yet met with Lozano at the Winter Meetings in Las Vegas but plans to do so. The Yankees have long been connected to Machado, who could play shortstop for them while Didi Gregorius (elbow) is out before then shifting over to third base.
