Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Twins have come to an agreement on a two-year contract with Addison Reed.

The deal, which is pending a physical, is reportedly just under $17 million. The 29-year-old hurler posted a 2.84 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 76/15 K/BB ratio in 76 innings between the Mets and Red Sox in 2017. He should be in the mix for save chances in Minnesota, with his primary competition coming from Fernando Rodney.
Jan 13 - 1:31 PM

Gio Gonzalez will start for the Brewers in Game 4 of the NLCS on Tuesday.

He'll be on short rest, but Gonzalez threw just 32 pitches last Friday when he allowed one run over one inning in Game 1. It will be an all hands on deck situation again in Game 4, and while manager Craig Counsell would surely prefer not to use six relievers again, he should have everyone available.
Oct 15 - 11:40 PM

Jhoulys Chacin held the Dodgers scoreless over 5 1/3 innings of work Monday in the Brewers’ 4-0 NLCS Game 3 win.

Walker Buehler certainly had the flashier stuff in this pitching matchup, but Chacin managed to keep the Dodgers off balance all night with a bunch of sliders and well-placed fastballs. The biggest jam he had to pitch out of came in the second inning when he got back-to-back strikeouts to escape a bases-loaded situation. Chacin yielded just three hits and two walks on the night and struck out six before handing it off to the Brewers’ bullpen, which came through again led by Corey Knebel and Josh Hader. The Brewers will start Gio Gonzalez in Game 4 as they try to take a 3-1 series lead.
Oct 15 - 11:36 PM

Austin Barnes will start at catcher for the Dodgers in Game 4 of the NLCS on Tuesday.

Yasmani Grandal had another nightmarish showing in Game 3 on Monday, getting charged with a passed ball and also failing to corral another ball in the dirt when a run scored on a wild pitch. He also struck out with the bases loaded in the ninth inning. Barnes went 0-for-3 but drew a bases-loaded walk in Game 2.
Oct 15 - 11:24 PM

Orlando Arcia slugged a two-run home run Monday in the Brewers' NLCS Game 3 victory over the Dodgers.

The Brewers were nursing a 2-0 lead in the seventh inning before Arcia followed a one-out Erik Kratz double with an opposite-field shot that just cleared the right-field wall. He's now gone deep in three of his last four postseason games, matching his home run total from the regular season (over 119 games). Not bad for a guy who was optioned to the minors on two occasions this season.
Oct 15 - 11:18 PM

Chris Sale (illness) has been released from Massachusetts General Hospital and will rejoin the Red Sox on Tuesday in Houston.

Sale was admitted to the hospital on Saturday with a stomach illness, but all indications are that it was a minor issue and he should be fine. The left-hander will be checked out Tuesday before anything is official, but he is lined up to start Game 5 on Thursday in Houston.
Oct 15 - 5:39 PM

Wade Miley will start for the Brewers in NLCS Game 5 on Wednesday on short rest.

Manager Craig Counsell hasn't announced a Game 4 starter yet, but he did say he'll be handing the ball to Miley in Game 5 on three days' rest. The left-hander needed just 74 pitches to get through 5 2/3 scoreless innings in Game 2. The Brewers ultimately figure to go with an "opener" for Game 4 and Counsell is just waiting to see who will be available.
Oct 15 - 5:25 PM

Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Monday that the club has interest in retaining impending free agents Nick Markakis and Kurt Suzuki.

Anthopoulos didn't say whether any negotiations have taken place, but it's safe to assume they'll be in touch soon if they haven't already. While Markakis dropped off during the second half, he still had his best season in several years with a .297/.366/.440 batting line to go along with 14 homers and 93 RBI. He'll turn 35 in November. Suzuki worked as part of a tandem with Tyler Flowers once again while batting .271/.332/.444 with 12 homers and 50 RBI over 105 games. He turned 35 earlier this month.
Oct 15 - 12:04 PM

Braves signed manager Brian Snitker to a two-year extension.

The deal includes an option for a third year in 2021. It's well-deserved, as Snitker led the Braves to a surprising 90 wins and an NL East title. The Braves lost to the Dodgers in the NLDS, but the future looks bright.
Oct 15 - 10:27 AM

Nathan Eovaldi will start Game 3 of the ALCS against the Astros on Tuesday.

Rick Porcello was previously lined up to start Game 3, but he was needed out of the bullpen in Sunday's Game 2 victory. Eovaldi is coming off seven innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts and no walks in his Game 3 start against the Yankees during the ALDS.
Oct 15 - 9:26 AM

Jackie Bradley delivered a go-ahead three-run double off of Gerrit Cole in the third inning on Sunday, propelling the Red Sox to a 7-5 victory over the Astros in Game 2 of the ALCS.

The Red Sox entered the frame trailing 4-2, but things got interesting when Xander Bogaerts lined a one-out single into center and Steve Pearce followed with a double. Rafael Devers then drew a walk to load the bases. After Ian Kinsler struck out for the second out of the inning, Bradley sliced a double into the left field corner to clear the bases and put the Red Sox ahead to stay. They'll now head to Houston with the series knotted up at a game each.
Oct 14 - 10:57 PM

Rafael Devers is starting at third base and batting sixth for the Red Sox in Sunday's ALCS Game 2 against the Astros.

It's only Devers' second start of the postseason, as the Red Sox have mostly gone with Eduardo Nunez at third base. However, Nunez is just 2-for-14 so far at the plate in the playoff and was unable to make a key play in the field in Game 1. The Red Sox' full lineup looks like this: Mookie Betts RF, Andrew Benintendi LF, J.D. Martinez DH, Xander Bogaerts SS, Steve Pearce 1B, Devers 3B, Ian Kinsler 2B, Jackie Bradley Jr. CF, Christian Vázquez C.
