Felix Hernandez (forearm) said Tuesday that he believes he'll be ready for the start of the season.

King Felix felt fine during a bullpen session on Tuesday and even surprised by mixing in his offspeed pitches. He's hoping to throw another bullpen session in two days before returning to game action. Opening Day could be a stretch, but he could be ready for the first series of the regular season. Hernandez hasn't pitched since being hit by a comebacker on February 26.

Reds acquired RHP Tanner Roark from the Nationals for RHP Tanner Rainey.

A classic Tanner-for-Tanner swap. Roark registered an uninspiring 4.50 ERA over 361 2/3 innings in his last two seasons with the Nats, but he's been an effective starter in the past and should be an upgrade to the Cincinnati rotation in 2019. He's due to become a free agent next winter. The Reds are probably still on the hunt for at least one more starting pitcher. They've been connected to several.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that free agent Justin Bour has agreed to a deal with the Angels.

The contract terms have not been revealed. Bour was non-tendered by the Phillies last month after batting .227/.341/.404 with 20 home runs and 59 RBI over 141 games between Miami and Philadelphia in 2018. The 30-year-old slugger will presumably get regular playing time between first base and DH next season in Anaheim, but Albert Pujols and Shohei Ohtani are also part of that equation. Granted, Pujols and Ohtani are both coming off major surgeries.

Lance Lynn has agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal with the Rangers, per MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan was first to report that an agreement was close. It's a big commitment to a guy who finished the 2018 season with a 4.77 ERA and 1.53 WHIP in 156 2/3 innings, but Lynn did produce a 3.38 ERA over his first six years in the majors -- a span of 977 2/3 innings -- and he's only 31 years old. Texas will hope he can bounce back to that form he showed in St. Louis.

According to Ken Rosenthal and Dennis Lin of The Athletic, the Padres are among the teams with interest in free agent Marwin Gonzalez.

Gonzalez is a fit for just about every club in the major leagues because of his ability to play all over the diamond defensively. Rosenthal says the Padres are looking for someone who can play shortstop until top prospect Fernando Tatis Jr. is ready and then shift into more of a utility role. Gonzalez had a down year with the Astros in 2018, but the versatile 29-year-old batted .303/.377/.530 with 23 home runs and 90 RBI over 134 games in 2017.

Charlie Morton will get a two-year, $30 million deal from the Rays, according to Yahoo's Jeff Passan.

That's pretty much what he expected to get going into the winter. He'll join a rotation that should include Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow. Ryan Yarbrough, Yonny Chirinos and Jalen Beeks could serve as bulk guys behind openers. Morton, 35, posted a stellar 3.13 ERA and 201/64 K/BB ratio over 167 innings (30 starts) with the Astros in 2018.

Yusei Kikuchi's agent Scott Boras said Wednesday that the Japanese left-hander will meet with interested teams later this month in Los Angeles.

Kikuchi has already drawn interest from a range of different clubs but the early word is that he prefers to play on the West Coast. He's been connected to the Padres, Dodgers, and Mariners, and Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reported Monday that the the Giants might be his "first choice." The 27-year-old southpaw posted a 3.08 ERA and 153/45 K/BB ratio over 163 2/3 innings this past season with the Seibu Lions in Japan.

According to Fancred's Jon Heyman, the Mariners are among the teams showing trade interest in Sonny Gray.

It doesn't make a ton of sense on the surface with the Mariners conducting an aggressive organizational rebuild, but they probably feel he could post good numbers in the pitcher-friendly confines of Safeco Field (or whatever name it's going by) and then be flipped for prospects at some point next summer. Gray registered a disappointing 4.90 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and 123/57 K/BB ratio over 130 1/3 innings with the Yankees in 2018. The Reds, Braves, and Padres have also expressed interest in acquiring the 29-year-old right-hander.

Fancred's Jon Heyman reports that the Tigers have an agreement in place with free agent shortstop Jordy Mercer.

It'll be a one-year, $5.25 million deal with another $250,000 available through performance-based incentives. Mercer still plays good defense at age 32, but he posted a weak .696 OPS with six home runs and 39 RBI over 117 games with the Pirates during the 2018 regular season. He'll be replacing free agent Jose Iglesias at the shortstop position in Detroit.
Dec 12 - 1:51 PM

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Athletics are among the clubs talking to the Rangers about Jurickson Profar.

Rosenthal notes that Profar could play second base for the A's in 2019 if they are unable to re-sign Jed Lowrie. Franklin Barreto is also an internal possibility. Profar finally put it all together in 2018, batting .254/.335/.458 with 20 home runs, 77 RBI, 10 stolen bases, and 82 runs scored in 146 games with Texas. The 25-year-old former top prospect is under club control through 2020.
Dec 12 - 1:43 PM

Craig Mish of SiriusXM reports that the Reds have "jumped into" the J.T. Realmuto trade market.

Mish further notes that Cincinnati "could be moving up into the candidates to acquire" the 27-year-old catcher from the Marlins. The package would reportedly be highlighted by top outfield prospect Taylor Trammell and a catcher, possibly Tucker Barnhart. The Mets want Realmuto badly and the Phillies and Braves are also believed to be involved, but it seems those clubs are having trouble putting together offers that are to Miami's liking.
Dec 12 - 1:14 PM

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal now says that the Yankees and J.A. Happ are close to a deal, but haven't actually agreed to terms yet.

This is a change from what he reported 10 minutes earlier, when he claimed there was an agreement. There's still nothing to indicate that it won't get done.
