According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, the Mets have "received recent phone calls" about Juan Lagares and "haven’t ruled out the idea of trading him."

Michael Conforto is well ahead of schedule in his recovery from September shoulder surgery and Brandon Nimmo is having a big spring, so the Mets are considering moving Lagares if they can get something decent in return. The 28-year-old is an excellent defensive outfielder, but he holds a weak .257/.297/.366 career batting line at the major league level. Puma hears that "at least one American League club has maintained interest."

Aaron Hicks (ankle) is in Monday's lineup against the Rays.

Hicks fouled a ball off his ankle during Saturday's game, but he's feeling a lot better. He should be good to go moving forward.
Sep 24 - 2:36 PM

Jon Gray will move up a day in the rotation to start Monday against the Phillies.

The Rockies made the change after Tyler Anderson came down with shoulder soreness. Tuesday's starter is now to be announced.
Sep 24 - 11:44 AM

Tyler Anderson has been scratched from Monday's scheduled start against the Phillies due to left shoulder soreness.

The severity of the issue is unclear. Jon Gray will move up in the rotation to make the start in his place.

Mookie Betts went 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles and a solo home run as the Red Sox fell to the Indians in extra innings on Sunday night.

Betts doubled and scampered home on a wild pitch with the game's first run in the first inning. He then crushed a game-tying, opposite-field homer off of Adam Plutko in the fifth inning. For the season, Betts is slashing a ridiculous .343/.434/.636. He has matched his career-high with 31 homers and set a new high-water mark with 123 runs and 28 stolen bases.
Sep 23 - 11:33 PM

The Red Sox are calling Xander Bogaerts' exit from Sunday's game "precautionary" due to left shoulder soreness.

He's considered day-to-day. Bogaerts suffered the injury on a swing during the seventh inning and was pulled from the game in the middle of his at-bat. The Red Sox are likely to play it safe with him during the final week of the regular season, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him sit out a couple of games.
Sep 23 - 9:52 PM

Kyle Freeland delivered another dominant performance in Sunday's victory over the Diamondbacks, striking out six over seven shutout innings.

Freeland scattered seven hits on the afternoon, all of them singles, while issuing only one free pass. It's getting completely over-shadowed by the tremendous pitching performances by the likes of Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer and Aaron Nola in the National League, but the Rockies' 25-year-old southpaw has been unbelievable this season. He'll carry a 2.84 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 169/69 K/BB ratio into his regular season finale on Friday against the Nationals.
Sep 23 - 7:53 PM

Jake Cave went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in a 5-1 victory over the Athletics on Sunday.

Cave took Trevor Cahill deep in the first inning, and it’s the 12th homer of the season for the outfielder. He’s probably played more than the Twins would have liked because of various injuries/struggles, but when he’s been on the field he’s shown quality power (.467 slugging percentage) and has held his own with a .261 average in 85 games. Cave should be a solid bench option for the Twins in 2019, assuming he’s not moved in a deal this off-season.
Sep 23 - 7:14 PM

Jeff McNeil went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base in the Mets' 8-6 win over the Nationals on Sunday.

It was an epic performance from the 26-year-old rookie infielder, who reached base safely in five of six plate appearances in this one. He's recorded an astounding 19 multi-hit efforts in just 57 games since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on July 24. McNeil singled and swiped second base, his sixth steal of the year, in the first inning, singled in the third, delivered an RBI single and came around to score a run in the fourth, singled in the fifth and capped off his afternoon with a walk in the seventh. He's hitting an absurd .340/.398/.495 with 32 runs scored, three homers and 19 RBI in 221 plate appearances.
Sep 23 - 6:48 PM

Joey Gallo hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning in a 6-1 victory over the Mariners on Sunday.

Gallo’s homer came in his only at-bat, and it was off of Ryan Cook to extend the Rangers lead to 6-1. It gives the slugger 39 homers on the year, and the two RBI are numbers 90 and 91 on the season, respectively. Gallo’s strikeouts are frustrating and death for his batting average, but the power isn’t going anywhere anytime soon for the 24-year-old. Unless something unforeseen happens, he’s going to have his second-straight 40-homer season with a small chance to drive in 100 runs as well. You can do a lot, lot worse.
Sep 23 - 6:14 PM

Anibal Sanchez allowed just one run over five innings in a 2-1 victory over the Phillies on Sunday.

Sanchez scattered four hits, and he didn't walk anyone. He also struck out just one, but the results are still solid. The results have been solid all year for the veteran right-hander with a 2.96 ERA and 128/38 K/BB ratio over 130 2/3 innings. The final regular season start for Sanchez comes on Sunday against the Phillies.
Sep 23 - 5:48 PM

Kyle Hendricks went 7 2/3 innings while allowing just one run and striking out five in a victory over the White Sox on Sunday.

A very strong effort for Hendricks, which shouldn’t surprise anyone. The right-hander gave up just four hits, and he didn’t put anyone on via walk. There were some struggles earlier in the 2018 campaign for Hendricks, but for over a month now, he’s been outstanding. The start lowers his ERA to 3.49 and WHIP to 1.15 in 191 innings. He’s scheduled to start again against the Cardinals on Friday, but that could change if the Cubs choose to adjust their rotation for the playoffs. If he’s on your roster, you’ll want to keep an eye out.
