Cardinals placed C Carson Kelly on the 10-day disabled list with a hamstring strain.

Kelly will be replaced on the 25-man roster with Steven Baron, who was added to the 40 and 25-man rosters today. The 23-year-old backstop was called up on May 6 after Yadier Molina was placed on the disabled list with a groin injury, and hit .111/.158/.111 over eight games with St. Louis. Depending on the severity of the strain, he should be back with the Cardinals near the end of May or beginning of June.

Giancarlo Stanton will start in right field Tuesday against the Marlins.

The Yankees won't have the DH spot for the series, but Stanton's hamstring has progressed well enough for him to get back into the outfield for his return to Miami. Neil Walker will play second base while Gleyber Torres fills in for the injured Didi Gregorius at shortstop.

Buster Posey is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Mets.

He'll take a seat after Monday's extra-inning win. Giants manager Bruce Bochy is resting a bunch of other regulars, including Joe Panik, Brandon Crawford, and Brandon Belt.

Xander Bogaerts will hit cleanup Tuesday against the Indians.

Bogaerts has primarily hit fifth recently, but he'll slide into the cleanup spot against right-hander Shane Bieber. J.D. Martinez will slide into the No 3 spot, with Mitch Moreland hitting fifth.

White Sox purchased the contract of RHP Michael Kopech from Triple-A Charlotte.

Kopech is slated to make his much-anticipated major league debut Tuesday night against the Twins. The top prospect right-hander has posted a 3.70 ERA and 170/60 K/BB ratio over 126 1/3 innings this season in Triple-A. His control is a work in progress, but he has ace upside in the long-term. He's worth an immediate add in all fantasy leagues on upside alone.

Cardinals transferred OF Dexter Fowler from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot for Matt Adams on the 40-man roster. Fowler went down earlier this month with a left foot fracture and can now be ruled out for September.

Cardinals claimed 1B Matt Adams off waivers from the Nationals.

In other words, the Nationals simply let Adams go on waivers rather than do a trade. The Cardinals will simply be responsible for his remaining salary. Adams has batted .257/.332/.510 with 18 homers over 94 games this season. He's essentially limited to first base, so the Cardinals could have Matt Carpenter move around in order to get him into the lineup against right-handers. Either way, Adams is a useful addition for the surging Cardinals.

Cubs acquired INF Daniel Murphy from the Nationals for INF Andruw Monasterio and a player to be named later or cash considerations.

And the teardown begins for the Nationals, three weeks after the July 31 trade deadline. Addison Russell has been dealing with a hand issue of late while Kris Bryant is still working his way back from a shoulder issue, so the Cubs should be able to find at-bats for Murphy down the stretch. The 33-year-old has been swinging the bat a lot better since the All-Star break, so there's very little downside to bringing him into the fold. It's surprising that another team in the National League didn't have the same idea here.

According to Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post, the Nationals aren't trading Bryce Harper.

Harper was placed on revocable waivers and reportedly claimed by the Dodgers, but either the two sides weren't able to work out a deal, or the Nationals simply pulled him back. Either way, he will finish his walk year with the Nationals rather than play for a contender. Meanwhile, Daniel Murphy is reportedly on his way to the Cubs while multiple reports indicate that Matt Adams has been claimed by the Cardinals.

Craig Mish of Sirius XM reports that the Cubs are the claiming team on Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy and are "working out a deal."

Robert Murray of The Athletic reports that the deal is done while Jon Heyman of FanCred Sports hears that prospect infielder Andruw Monasterio is headed back to the Nationals. By ending up on the Cubs, this means that every other team in the National League passed on the chance to claim Murphy. Even with his defensive limitations, it's a bit surprising. The 33-year-old got off to a slow start after returning from microfracture knee surgery, but he's batting .346 with five homers and a .915 OPS over his last 29 games. The Cubs have enough moving pieces where they can give Murphy regular rest. And if they get to the World Series, he can see some at-bats out of the DH spot.

Astros manager A.J. Hinch said on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM on Tuesday that Roberto Osuna will see the majority of the save chances moving forward.

Hector Rondon has been getting save chances over the past couple of months, but he blew his two most recent chances and will now slide into a role in the seventh and eighth innings. Osuna holds a 1.80 ERA and 3/1 K/BB ratio over five innings since being acquired from the Blue Jays at the end of July.

Yankees placed SS Didi Gregorius on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to August 20, with a left heel contusion.

Gregorius suffered the injury in a collision with Kendrys Morales at first base on Sunday and will require an extended absence. An initial MRI came back clean, but he was scheduled to be sent for further testing. There's no clear timetable for his return. Gleyber Torres figures to serve as the regular shortstop for now while Neil Walker and Ronald Torreyes should see time at second base.
