This weekend's event at Charlotte Motor Speedway marks Kevin Harvick's 425th career start in the Sprint Cup Series and 24th at the 1.5-mile track.

Since 2001, the 36-year-old driver has collected one win (2011 Coca-Cola 600), two top-five and seven top-10 finishes. The Bakersfield, Calif., native maintains an average starting position of 19.3 coupled with an average finishing position of 18.1. Harvick has completed 7,953 of 8,184 (97.2 percent) of the laps contested and is credited with six laps led.-Richard Childress Racing

Jeff Gordon posted the second fastest lap in Saturday morning’s practice session for the Goody's 500. His top speed of 97.699 was 7/100ths slower than teammate Jimmie Johnson.

Gordon stumbled in qualification and will roll off the grid 13th. He mistimed his lap, however, and went out while the track was cold. He should still be considered one of the favorites for Sunday’s race.

Jimmie Johnson posted the fastest single lap in the Saturday morning practice session for the Goody's 500. His fastest lap was 98.023 mph.

Johnson qualified seventh and should be able to get to the lead early. Expect him to lead a lot of laps on Sunday and earn the bonus points that go along with that.

Darrell Wallace Jr. is fastest in Happy Hour for the Camping World Truck Series Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway.

At 95.888 mph in the No. 34 Wendell Scott Hall of Fame tribute Toyota Tundra, he was the fastest of the 37 trucks out on the track for the final practice. No. 88 Matt Crafton, No. 51 Erik Jones, No. 00 Cole Custer and No. 17 Timothy Peters are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. No. 86 Brandon Brown was the slowest. Wallace Jr. switched numbers on the Toyota Tundra from #54 to #34 (Wendell Scott drove the No. 34 during his career) for this race. The No. 54 will return after Martinsville.
Oct 24 - 8:18 PM

Jamie McMurray set a new qualification record and won the pole for Sunday’s Goody's 500 at Martinsville Speedway. His fastest lap was 18.954 seconds, which converts to 99.905 mph.

McMurray had one of the fastest cars this spring before contact with Dale Earnhardt Jr. cut a tire and sent him into the wall. It is safe to say that he has unfinished business and wants to dominate the race. The track record of 100.201 mph was set by Joey Logano this spring during the first session.
Oct 24 - 5:40 PM

Jeff Gordon and Kevin Harvick were the only two Chase contenders who qualified outside the top 12 for Sunday’s Goody's 500. Gordon missed advancing to the second round of time trials by six inches; Harvick was well off the pace and starts 33rd after scraping the wall twice.

Gordon will suffer with bad pit selection, but Harvick will have to change his strategy and gamble on two tires early. Martinsville is not Harvick’s best track in terms of average finishes and this is not what he wanted to start the Eliminator round.
Oct 24 - 5:19 PM

Ryan Blaney leads the first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice session at Martinsville Speedway.

He ran a quick lap of 95.185 mph in the No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150 No. 20 Gray Gaulding, No. 33 Brandon Jones, No. 92 Austin Hill and No. 98 Johnny Sauter round out the top five of the 38 trucks practicing for the Kroger 200. Dustin Hapka in the No. 93 Chevrolet Silverado was the slowest.
Oct 24 - 3:36 PM

Jeff Gordon posted the fastest single lap in the first practice session for the Goody's 500. His top speed was 99.250 mph.

Starting position is critical at Martinsville, but mostly because it indicates who rolled off the hauler fast. Gordon’s best opportunity to win and automatically advance to the Championship race will come this week and he wants to take full advantage.
Oct 24 - 1:29 PM

Jamie McMurray scraped the wall in the first practice session for the Goody's 500. He made minor contact.

McMurray will not need to roll out a backup car, which is good news for his owners. He swept the top 10 at Martinsville last year and was running with the leaders when he was wrecked by Dale Earnhardt Jr. this spring.
Oct 24 - 12:30 PM

In the opening minutes of practice, Justin Allgaier’s rear end locked up and sent him into a casual spin. He did not make contact with the wall, but the team was forced to spend a lot of time in the garage.

This is significant for fantasy racers because Allgaier was one of the best dark horses this spring when he finished 23rd in the STP 500.
Oct 24 - 12:17 PM

Matt Kenseth entered the most recent short track race at Richmond with a perfect record of top-15 finishes on this track type, but crash damage dropped the No. 20 70 laps off the pace and relegated Kenseth to a 41st-place finish in the Federated Auto Parts 400. He hopes to rebound in the Goody's 500.

Kenseth also ended the 2013 season with an equally long streak, which gives him nine top-15s in his last 10 races. He should be viewed as a good fantasy value this week.
Oct 24 - 9:37 AM

Denny Hamlin finished sixth or better in nine consecutive races from 2006 through 2010, but his efforts have fallen off in recent attempts. Only three of his last six attempts have resulted in top-10s.

During his incredible streak, he won four races and finished second on two other occasions. This spring he finished 19th, but never contended for a top-five. That makes him a risky proposition.
