T.J. Bell will miss the Nationwide Series Dollar General 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The No. 50 team is outside the top 30 in owner’s points and not guaranteed a start in this weekend’s NNS race. His qualifying speed of 172.905 mph, 40th fastest, was not good enough to make the cut for the event.

Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch won the Lilly Diabetes 250, his 83rd victory in 322 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races.

This is his seventh victory and 11th top-10 NXS finish in 2016. He has now won three consecutive races for the second time this season, the first driver to accomplish the feat in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. This is his third victory and fourth top-10 finish in five NXS races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). Justin Allgaier (5th) won the NASCAR XFINITY Series Dash 4 Cash bonus of $100,000. Kevin Harvick (2nd) posted his fourth top-10 finish in four NXS races at IMS. Paul Menard (3rd) posted his fifth top-10 finish in five NXS races at IMS. Brandon Jones (10th) was the highest finishing rookie. Daniel Suarez leads the point standings by 14 points over Elliott Sadler.

Chris Buescher advanced into the second round of qualification for the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard and will roll off the grid Sunday in 22nd.

Buescher will make his first attempt at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and was the third-fastest rookie in qualification. He has scored some respectable runs so far in his rookie season. This June, he recorded one of five top-25s on the other 2.5-mile flat track of Pocono Raceway after starting in the front half of the pack in 18th. He should be considered a potential top-25 finisher again this week.

Joey Logano failed to advance to the final round of qualification and will roll off the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard grid 14th after posting a lap of 183.273 mph.

One would be tempted to say this is not the only factor in a potentially strong run, but after last week’s struggle for Carl Edwards after starting 13th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, fantasy owners have a right to be at least a little nervous. Logano was one of the three slowest drivers who made 10-lap runs and never seemed happy with his Ford.
Jul 23 - 6:54 PM

None of the Hendrick Motorsports drivers advanced into the final round of qualification. Jimmie Johnson had the 13th fastest time, Chase Elliott was 15th best, Jeff Gordon was 21st, while Kasey Kahne failed to make it into the top 24 and starts 26th.

This is significant because Hendrick has been one of the dominant organizations at this track, but with five drivers in the field last year they could not manage to crack the top 10. Discretion says that now is time to leave them in the garage and concentrate on one of the organizations trending up.

Kevin Lacroix (#74 Bumper to Bumper/Total/Go Fast Dodge) is at the top of the speed chart in the final practice leading to the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Alberta Has New Energy 300 at Edmonton International Raceway.

The 69.849 mph lap was the best of the 18 cars out on the track. #1 Joey McColm, #32 Alex Labbe, #27 Andrew Ranger and #53 Noel Dowler are the rest of the top five and #9 Jason Hankewich is the slowest in this final session.
Jul 23 - 5:14 PM

Donny Lia (#8 Sypher Construction/Bardahl Chevrolet) led the final practice for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Monadnock 200 at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH.

The 71.463 mph lap was the quickest of the 23 cars out on the track for this last session. #75 Shawn Solomito, #16 Timmy Solomito, #3 Rowan Pennink and #36 David Sapienza are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. #01 Melissa Fifield was the slowest.
Jul 23 - 3:22 PM

Alex Labbe (#32 Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lous BBQ Dodge) led the first practice for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Alberta Has New Energy 300 at Edmonton International Raceway.

His 69.493 mph lap was the quickest of the 16 cars out on the track for the first practice session. #2 Mark Dilley, #18 Alex Tagliani, #27 Andrew Ranger and #53 Noel Dowler are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. #83 Ian Admiraal was the slowest.
Jul 23 - 3:16 PM

Justin Bonsignore (#51 Phoenix Communications Inc. Chevrolet) led the first practice for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Monadnock 200 at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH.

The 71.265 mph lap around the 0.25-mile banked oval was the quickest of the 22 cars out on the track for the practice session. #44 Bobby Santos, #8 Donny Lia, #16 Timmy Solomito and #9 Chase Dowling are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. #01 Melissa Fifield was the slowest.
Jul 23 - 2:59 PM

Tony Stewart qualified third for his final Brickyard 400. This will be the fourth consecutive Indianapolis Motor Speedway race for which he starts on one of the first three rows. Stewart’s lap of 184.328 mph was 0.058 seconds slower than pole sitter Kyle Busch.

Stewart faded in race trim in his last two starts to finish 17th from fifth in 2014 and 28th from fourth last year. He has momentum on his side this year, however, and expects to run as well as he did in 2013 when he advanced one position to finish fourth. That was his fifth consecutive top-10 at the time. Fantasy owners would not want to bet against him this week.
Jul 23 - 2:50 PM

Kyle Busch won both poles on Saturday. Shortly after winning the pole for the XFINITY race, he posted a lap of 184.634 mph in the third and final round of qualification to score the first pole of his career at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Brickyard 400.

Busch’s previous best start was seventh in 2012 en route to a second-place finish. Last year he recorded his second career top-10 start with the ninth-best time before scoring his first win on this track. Busch would seem to be a driver to tips his hand on this track in qualification and should be a great value.
Jul 23 - 2:44 PM

Michael McDowell failed to advance to the second round of qualification, but he logged an impressive time nonetheless. His lap of 182.819 mph puts him 27th on the grid for the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard.

That is a minor victory for the team, but it makes McDowell a questionable value in games that offer place-differential points. McDowell could easily cost fantasy points if he runs into trouble early and finishes in the high-30s.
