Ryan Truex will step back behind the wheel of the No. 27 Hillman Racing Chevy this Friday evening at Phoenix International Raceway.

This will mark his second career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start and first series start at the recently-paved Phoenix track. This will not be his first start at the one-mile speedway. Truex has three NASCAR Nationwide Series starts with Michael Waltrip Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing. His best finish came in the fall event in 2011 where he started and finished in the eighth spot with Joe Gibbs Racing.-MTJ Motorsports

Kasey Kahne does not have a lot of success in 2016, but what little does have was earned on the similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks. He enters the GoBowling.com 400 at Kansas Speedway with back-to-back top-10s at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway.

Given his inconsistency, he could fly under the radar this week. If that happens, he could be one of the best differentiators in a player’s lineup. Do not start him unless he starts in the front half of the field, however.

Ryan Blaney has earned five NASCAR Sprint Cup top-10s in his career and two of those came on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks. One of his top results was earned last October when he finished seventh in the Hollywood Casino 400 after starting eighth.

His other top-10 on this track type came at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this spring from a 14th-place starting position, so qualification and practice will be critical in helping fantasy owners decide whether to start the No. 21. Be aware, however, that he faded from seventh to 29th one month ago at Texas.

Clint Bowyer earned his second top-10 in the last three races by finishing seventh at Talladega SuperSpeedway. He was also eighth at Bristol Motor Speedway and those two top-10s could give the No. 15 team the momentum needed to score their first top-20 on a similarly-configured, 1.5-mile track this season.

Bowyer came close with a 22nd at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March and needs only a little nudge to get those extra two spots. That was the only time in three races on this track type in 2016 that he finished on the same lap as the leaders.
May 3 - 10:01 AM

Kurt Busch enters the GoBowling.com 400 with a current streak of 10 consecutive top-10s on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks. This streak was started at Kansas Speedway last spring and Busch has an average finish of 7.1 in that span of races.

Expand the parameters a little and Busch has only one result worse than 14th in his last 17 attempts on this course type. That represents nearly his entire career with Stewart-Haas Racing.
May 2 - 7:49 PM

Austin Dillon entered Texas Motor Speedway this April with four consecutive top-15 results on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks. He sustained crash damage and finished 19th in the Duck Commander 500—two laps off the pace.

Dillon’s strong finish last week in the Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway will help regain some of the momentum he has lost in recent weeks and unless something unforeseen happens, he should be one of this week’s favorites to finish in the top 15 once again.
May 2 - 7:48 PM

Daniel Suarez (#19 ARRIS Toyota Camry) finished seventh in Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) Sparks Energy 300 at Alabama's Talladega Superspeedway.

He started second on the grid and completed all laps of the 116-lap race (led two laps). Suarez, who was the series leader heading into this race, drops to second in the 2016 NXS championship standings after this event. Both Suarez and Elliott Sadler (winner of this race) have 314 points but the tie breaker is wins (Suarez is winless).
May 2 - 3:04 PM

Justin Allgaier (#7 Breyers Chevrolet Camaro) finished second in Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) Sparks Energy 300 at Alabama's Talladega Superspeedway.

He started 18th on the grid and completed all laps of the 116-lap race. Allgaier, who has competed in all nine series races so far this season, advanced three spots to fourth in the 2016 NXS championship standings after this event.
May 2 - 2:52 PM

Chase Briscoe (#77 Cunningham Motorsports Dodge) finished third in Friday's ARCA Racing Series General Tire 200 at Talladega (AL) Superspeedway.

He started 20th in the lineup and completed all laps of the 74-lap race. John Wes Townley, points leader heading into this race and driving a partial ARCA schedule, did not enter this event. Briscoe passes him in the series points to become the leader in the 2016 ARCA championship standings. He leads Josh Williams (who finished second in the race) by 15 points after this event.
May 2 - 2:41 PM

Josh Williams (#6 Musselman's Big Cup Applesauce Ford) finished second in Friday's ARCA Racing Series rain-shortened General Tire 200 at Talladega (AL) Superspeedway.

He started 14th on the grid and completed all laps of the 74-lap event. Williams, who competed in all four series races so far this season, advanced to second in the 2016 ARCA championship standings, 15 points behind leader Chase Briscoe.
May 2 - 2:32 PM

Tom Hessert turned in another Talladega gem only to settle for a fourth place finish during Friday’s ARCA Racing Series presented by Menard General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Hessert (#25 RelaxWraps.com - Cometic Toyota), started on the pole, led a race high 23-laps, but came up short during one of the most exciting ARCA restrictor plate races in recent memory. Continuing a trend as a force to be reckoned with at restrictor plate races, Hessert, who won Talladega in 2014, ran out of fuel leading the race last year on the final lap, only makes the case stronger as a pre-race favorite when the series returns in 2017.-Venturini Motorsports
May 2 - 2:26 PM

Carl Edwards had been running on the lead lap for 28 consecutive races entering the Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway. He sustained damage in two separate incidents on the restrictor-plate, superspeedway and not only failed to finish on the lead lap, he was not running at the end of the race.

Edwards was credited with a 35th-place finish after completing 109 laps. That was an ignominious end for the winner of the last two races this season, but he will dust off and head to Kansas Speedway with the rest of the field.
