The 2013 Sprint Unlimited will mark Kevin Harvick's ninth appearance in the pre-season, non-points paying event.

During his first eight entries, the Bakersfield, Calif., native has earned two wins (2009 & 2010), four top-five and six top-10 finishes. 2012 Race Rewind: Harvick and the No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet team were credited with a 22nd-place finish during the 2012 Sprint Unlimited, after being caught up in a wreck at lap 54.-Richard Childress Racing

NBC Sports Group announced Monday morning that retiring NASCAR superstar Dale Earnhardt Jr. will join the company on a multiyear deal beginning in 2018.

The two-time Daytona 500 winner Earnhardt, 42, who is retiring from full-time competition at the end of the season, has worked in the live television booth a handful of times — including at this year’s "The Clash" preseason opener during Daytona Speedweeks — as well as some XFINITY Series races over the last two years. Mark Lazarus, Chairman, NBC Broadcasting and Sports hinted that Earnhardt Jr. could have an opportunity outside of NASCAR as well. "We are excited to welcome Dale Jr. to our team – both on and off the track," Lazarus said. "As a company, NBCUniversal allows for talent to stretch themselves across not just their field of expertise, but across other areas of their interests in the media world."

Danica Patrick finished 11th in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which was her third straight top-10 finish.

Her last three results have each been better than the one that preceded it. Next week features another flat track and with a little luck, she could contend for a top-10.

AJ Allmendinger finished 10th in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which gave JTG-Daugherty Racing a sweep of the top 10. Chris Buescher finished ninth.

This organization needed a good finish before heading into Watkins Glen International in two weeks and if Allmendinger runs well at Pocono Raceway, he could be an even bigger favorite on the road course.
Jul 23 - 10:34 PM

Chris Buescher earned his second top-10 finish in the past four weeks when he crossed under the checkers ninth in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Buescher has been among the most improved drivers this year with his move to JTG-Daugherty Racing and he should continue to be on most fantasy players’ radar screens.
Jul 23 - 10:23 PM

Matt DiBenedetto earned his second top-10 of the season and his first on an unrestricted speedway. He was eighth at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Brickyard 400, which is his career-best finish.

His only other career top-10 came in the season-opening Daytona 500 when he finished ninth. DiBenedetto has been a good value on a few occasions, but is too unpredictable to be fantasy relevant.
Jul 23 - 10:05 PM

Daniel Suarez earned his sixth career top-10 when he crossed under the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in seventh.

Notably, all of his results have been either sixths or sevenths. This is the second time in his career that he scored back-to-back top-10s. His other two top-10s were separated by one race, so he seems to be capable of capitalizing on momentum.
Jul 23 - 9:55 PM

For the second consecutive year, Kevin Harvick finished sixth in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

That is Harvick’s fourth straight top-10 on this track. Like many of the top finishers, he had a seesaw day that required a little luck, but his strong record likely had him on quite a few radar screens pre-race. This is also his third consecutive top-10 this season.

For the first time since last fall, Matt Kenseth has earned back-to-back top-fives in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series with his fifth at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Brickyard 400 on the heels of last week’s fourth at New Hampshire.

Both of these races occurred on flat tracks, so Kenseth should be watched closely next week at Pocono Raceway. That is particularly important because Kasey Kahne’s win moved the transfer bubble. One more unique winner from further down the standings could bump him.
Jul 23 - 9:24 PM

Joey Logano finished fourth in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is only his second top-five in the past 11 races.

The significance is that is the amount of time since his encumbered win. He had a five-race, top-five streak going before the penalty and if he cannot win again, he is virtually assured he will not make the playoffs. He needs to build momentum before fantasy players roll the dice on the No. 22.
Jul 23 - 9:19 PM

Ryan Newman survived multiple accidents in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and finished third.

Newman was one of our picks to be a top value in the Weekend Update and he rewarded that optimism greatly. That makes him a dark horse contender heading into next week’s Pocono Raceway event.
Jul 23 - 9:13 PM

Brad Keselowski wanted to give Roger Penske his first Brickyard 400 win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but he came up one position short in second.

Keselowski did not have a great car for most of the day, but he proved that determination makes up for a lot when he got into the front pack at the end. He took the lead just before the final restart, but could not quite outrun Kahne at the end.
