Alex Bowman’s best flat track finish this season came at Richmond. He finished 28th after starting 24th.

Bowman stayed within two laps of the leader that afternoon. He was also one lap off the pace in Pocono’s first race and it is difficult to get a good finish in modern NASCAR without completing the distance.

Chris Buescher has the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in the Happy Hour practice for the Nationwide Series U.S. Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway.

The average speed of 130.864 mph in the No. 60 Ford Mustang was best of the eight cars that ran 10 consecutive laps on the track for this final practice session. No. 16 Ryan Reed, No. 42 Dylan Kwasniewski, No. 31 Chase Pistone, No. 62 Brendan Gaughan, No. 11 Elliott Sadler, No. 55 Jamie Dick and No. 87 Josh Reaume are the rest on this list.

Brendan Gaughan tops the speed chart in the Happy Hour practice session for the Nationwide Series U.S. Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway.

The No. 62 Chevrolet Camaro driver ran a fast lap of 133.469 mph. No. 5 Josh Berry, No. 29 Kenny Wallace, No. 16 Ryan Reed and No. 6 Trevor Bayne round out the top five of the 38 cars out on the track. The No. 72 driven by John Jackson was the slowest in the final practice session.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will race chassis RK-882 this week at Pocono. It was last raced at Michigan where it finished 27th after getting involved in an accident.

The accident at Michigan happened on lap six, so this car never got a chance to show any speed. Stenhouse is not particularly strong on flat tracks and it will be difficult to place the No. 17 on one’s roster.

Jesse Little, who scored his first K&N Pro Series win in the Granite State 100 at New Hampshire Speedway on July 11, posted a fast lap of 23.883 seconds at 131.893 mph in the #97 Get to Know Newton Chevrolet to win his first pole award in the K&N Pro Series.

Sixteen year-old Australia native Brodie Kostecki, the pole winner for the May combination race at Iowa Speedway, was second fastest, completing a fast lap at 23.592 seconds / 131.513 mph in his Arcoplate Toyota. Kyle Benjamin was third fastest, followed by K&N Pro Series East season points leader Ben Rhodes and Ross Chastain. The top five qualifiers eclipsed the 131 mph mark.-K&N Pro Series

Howard Bixman (owner of the No. 88 Ford) was watching the weather radar on three different phones Friday during the early stages of the ModSpace 125 Friday at Pocono Raceway.

As soon as he saw what appeared to be a clearing of the skies, Bixman and Teddy Brown called their driver, Justin Allison, down to pit road for fuel. That move ended up paying off about 25 laps later when Allison inherited the lead and went on to win his first ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards race. Team BCR has now won five times this season -- four with Enfinger and once with Allison.-ARCA Racing News

Aric Almirola finished 23rd and 21st in his last two flat track attempts at New Hampshire and Indy respectively.

Since these are also the two most recent races on the schedule that is the amount of momentum brings to this third consecutive flat track race. Look for another result in the low 20s in the Pennsylvania 400.

Greg Biffle will race chassis No. RK-890. It was last campaigned at Kentucky four weeks ago where it finished 14th.

Biffle climbed into the top-10 for only a handful of laps in the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky, so this chassis has hardly shown any real strength. Biffle should finish somewhere in the high teens or low 20s. He qualified 25th for the GoBowling.com 400.

Josh Wise has improved his performance on flat tracks this year. After finishing in the mid to high 30s at Martinsville, Richmond, and Pocono, he scored back-to-back 29th-place finishes at New Hampshire and Indy.

Those results will not get him on many rosters this week, but the team is heading in the right direction. If he shows slight improvement, he should continue to be watched when the series returns to another flat track.
Aug 1 - 8:13 PM

Clint Bowyer will race chassis 809 at Pocono in the Pennsylvania 400. It has been raced at Kansas this May and the first Pocono race in June.

Bowyer’s 5-hour Energy 400 effort at Kansas was disappointing with a 23rd-place finish but he apparently learned something to make the chassis better. He narrowly missed finishing in the top 10 in the Pocono 400 with an 11th-place finish.
