Lowe's Companies Inc. will continue its successful relationship with Hendrick Motorsports after signing a two-year contract extension that secures the full-season primary sponsorship of the No. 48 NASCAR Sprint Cup team and five-time series champion Jimmie Johnson in 2014 and 2015.

Announced today to more than 1,700 store managers at the Lowe's national sales meeting, the agreement builds upon a partnership launched in 2001 when Johnson was selected to drive for the new No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports team. Now in its 12th full season, the sponsor-driver-team relationship has become one of the most successful in NASCAR history.-Hendrick Motorsports PR

Turner Scott Motorsports announced today that it has taken the regrettable but necessary steps to layoff 18 employees company-wide as a result of ending operations of the No. 30 NCWTS team and in order to remain competitive throughout the remainder of the 2014 season.

"The decision to lay-off any employee is painful and we realize the affects it has on their lives," said Harry Scott, Jr., whose investment firm is a co-owner of TSM. "However, the decisions made by TSM today are necessary and the responsible steps for all of TSM to ensure our commitment to our employees, partners and fans to be as competitive as possible." The company notified employees this afternoon and will do all it can to help those affected to find new roles in the industry.-Tuckahoe Strategies

Andrew Ranger was credited with a 29th place DNF in Sunday's NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario.

He started the No. 27 Mopar/Exide Dodge on the pole for the Clarington 200. He led 15 laps in the race but had to exit early when he developed problems with the fuel pump. On lap 40 of the 51 lap race, Ranger was finished for the day. He is currently 3rd in the 2014 Canadian Tire Series championship standings after this event.

Grant Enfinger, in the No. 90 Motor Honey-Casite-Allegiant Travel Chevrolet, led 63 of 100 laps en route to Victory Lane in the 61st running of the Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds mile dirt Monday afternoon.

Enfinger out-dueled Justin Boston on the final double-file restart and then held him off over the final 10 laps to secure his first win on dirt and sixth ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards victory of the season. Five-time Southern Illinois 100 winner Frank Kimmel, in the No. 44 Ansell-Menards Toyota, finished a close third. Mason Mitchell finished fourth after leading the first 26 laps from the pole. Brennan Poole, Ken Ken Schrader, Ryan Unzicker, Tom Hessert, Kyle Weatherman and Austin Wayne Self completed the top-10 finishers, respectively. Enfinger, by virtue of his victory, also earned the Bill France Four Crown championship for the 2014 season.

Ty Dillon finished three laps off the pace in the Oral-B USA 500 and scored a 25th-place finish, but it was significant for another reason. He finished one position better than his brother Austin did in his Cup debut in 2011 at Kansas Speedway.

The younger Dillon brother now has bragging rights, and fantasy players found Ty to be a provisionally good value in some games. In pre-race coverage all week at Rotoworld, he was predicted to finish within a few positions of 26th and did not disappoint.

Earlier this season, Danica Patrick scored a career-best finish on the similarly-configured, 1.5-mile track of Kansas Speedway when she crossed under the checkers seventh. She improved on that by one position at Atlanta Motor Speedway this week and finished sixth. This was the fourth top-10 of Patrick’s career.

Patrick was the beneficiary of some well-timed cautions, but she survived two green-white-checkered attempts at the end of the Oral-B USA 500 and avoided the carnage that erupted around her. Next week’s venue, Richmond is not one of her better tracks in terms of career-average finishes, but it is a course with some similarities to unrestricted, intermediate speedways.

Matt Kenseth wiggled out of turn four coming to the white flag of the Oral-B USA 500 and lost a side-by-side battle with Kasey Kahne. Kenseth’s second-place finish gives him enough of a points’ cushion to lock into the Chase for the Championship.

Kenseth would certainly have preferred to win the Atlanta race and earn the bonus points that go along with a regular season victory, but he accomplished a much bigger feat by qualifying for the Chase. Consistency is going to be incredibly important in the first three races of the playoff-style format, and Kenseth has a proven ability to score points.

Kasey Kahne had the best restart of his season during the second green-white-checkered attempt and swept past Matt Kenseth on the next-to-last lap. He held on to win the Oral-B USA 500 by 0.574 seconds and locked himself into the Chase.

That puts all four Hendrick Motorsports drivers in the Chase for the Championship with one regular season race remaining. Kahne has had an up-and-down year, which has occasionally made him a questionable fantasy value, but this will undoubtedly generate a lot of momentum for the next couple of races.

Ryan Blaney wins the 2nd Annual Chevrolet Silverado 250, his third victory in 45 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races.

This is the No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150 driver's first victory and 10th top-10 finish in 2014. This is Blaney's victory and first top-10 finish in two races at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. He is currently third in the 2014 NCWTS point standings, only 13 points behind leader Johnny Sauter after this event.

J.R. Fitzpatrick turned in another dominant performance to earn his fifth career NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and secure a season sweep at the famed Ontario road course.

Fitzpatrick, from Ayr, Ontario, took the lead in the Pinty’s presents the Clarington 200 for the second and final time on Lap 34 in his No 84 Equipment Express/Autism Speaks Chevrolet and drove to his 10th career victory overall. He’s won a record five of the 10 all-time series events at CTMP, including both in 2014.

Dylan Lupton scored his second career NASCAR K&N Pro Series West win Saturday night in a wild finish at Kern County Raceway Park.

The 20-year-old Wilton, California, driver battled championship points leader Greg Pursley on a green-white-checkered finish that pushed the Bakersfield 150 presented by GPS to 155 laps. Pursley, who had won the series' first two races at the two-year-old track, was black flagged for a restart violation -- he took off before the restart point. That enabled Lupton's No. 9 Sunrise Ford/Lucas Oil/Eibach Ford to cruise to Victory Lane. The penalty dropped Pursley to ninth. Brandon McReynolds finished second and Jesse Little third.
