Greg Biffle is eighth in the standings with 93 points; 36 points behind leader Jimmie Johnson.

In the Kobalt Tools 400, Biffle was among the many drivers plagued with car issues, brought on by a lack of practice time on the track and weather conditions that differed greatly from the final practice. The No. 16 Ford finished 17th. This week: In 20 starts at Bristol, he has six top fives, 11 top 10s and one pole. For races in the past eight years at Bristol, he ranks third out of 47 drivers with an average place of 12.4.-NASCAR.com

Denny Hamlin finished 10th in the Food City 500 after rolling off the grid 16th at Bristol Motor Speedway.

That is Hamliin’s best spring finish on this track in three years, although he does have a pair of top-fives in the spring. Without any problems this summer, he should be able to sweep the top 10.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was considered one of the top dark horses entering this week’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. His ninth-place finish confirmed that status.

This was his fifth top-10 finish in his last seven attempts on the half-mile bullring and it made him one of the best values in the game. He will continue to be a good option this summer with a worst-ever finish of 21st in eight starts there.
Apr 24 - 6:26 PM

A speeding penalty with 35 laps to go foiled Martin Truex’s bid for victory in the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Truex has experienced a variety of problems on this track and that made him a risky proposition. With that in mind, his ability to recover and get back into the top 10 should be considered a moral victory. He will have a better handicap this summer as a result.
Apr 24 - 6:21 PM

Chase Elliott finished seventh in the Food City 500, which kept a perfect streak of top-15s at Bristol Motor Speedway alive.

Elliott entered the weekend with the best average finish (during the past three years) on this track. He extended that advantage and will be a good value when the series returns in August. He finished fourth in this race last year and was 15th in the summer.
Apr 24 - 6:17 PM

Kyle Larson finished sixth in the Food City 500, which snapped a three-race streak of results 24th or worse at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Larson accomplished this by going where the competition was not. He ran the high line for most of the weekend and found an advantage. Ironically, his chance at earning his first career top-five on this track ended when he ran up on the lapped car of Derrike Cope in the closing laps.
Apr 24 - 5:48 PM

Joe Logano finished fifth in the Food City 500 after starting fifth at Bristol Motor Speedway.

That was Logano’s fourth top-five in a row this season and his fourth straight top-10 at Bristol. His last two efforts on this track ended in a pair pf 10ths last season, so this should be viewed as a welcome reversal.
Apr 24 - 5:35 PM

NASCAR does not give out a hard charger award, but if they did it just might have gone to Matt Kenseth at Bristol Motor Speedway. He started the Food City 500 22nd and finished fourth.

Like Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick, Kenseth had a difficult start to his season and when the race was lined up by owner points, he started in the back half of the field. He added a ton of place-differential points to his total, however, and banked serious markers for his fantasy owners.
Apr 24 - 5:10 PM

Kevin Harvick stayed out on old tires at Bristol Motor Speedway and could not hold off Jimmie Johnson and Clint Bowyer at the checkers. His gamble paid off with a third-place finish in the Food City 500.

Harvick got off to nearly as tough a start to his season as Johnson. He has not yet won, but this finish puts him back on fantasy owners’ radar screens. It is almost time to handicap him by the numbers.
Apr 24 - 4:51 PM

Clint Bowyer finished second in the Food City 500 after lining up ninth at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Bowyer was an early-season favorite to finish in the top 10 at Bristol, but as the weekend approached he was listed as a potential winner because of his record on this track added to his 2017 momentum. For his price tag in salary cap games, he was likely the best value this week.
Apr 24 - 4:40 PM

Jimmie Johnson won the Food City 500 on the heels of snapping a season-opening winless streak to start the season.

This was the 11th time in his career that Johnson posted back to back wins. It answers the question of whether he has put the slow start of the season behind with a resounding "yes." It is time for fantasy players to trust him once more.
Apr 24 - 4:27 PM

Cunningham Motorsports, in conjunction with Roush Fenway Racing, will add Ty Majeski to the roster for five races this season in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.

Majeski, a Roush Fenway Racing development driver, is set to make his debut with Cunningham at Pocono Raceway June 9 in the No. 99 Ford Fusion. From there, the Seymour, Wisc. native will run at Michigan International Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway, Kentucky Speedway and Kansas Speedway. The 22-year-old made his ARCA debut last season at Madison International Speedway and ran three more races in 2016, including Chicagoland and Kansas.
