Andrew Ranger has plenty of mastery on road-courses and the two-time champion of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 proved once again he can figure it out on an oval, too.

He showed that Friday night as he picked up the win in the Alberta Has Energy 300 in the inaugural event at Edmonton International Raceway. Ranger tied the series’ all-time record with his 19th career win, and won back-to-back races for the first time since August 2009 following his victory on the road course at Circuit ICAR in Quebec last week. It was also his first oval win since 2009, and fourth overall.

According to a trackside report from MRN’s Dustin Long, Joey Logano suffered a minor sprain in Friday’s accident and is wearing a wrist support.

Logano qualified sixth with that same sprain, but 301 laps will take a bigger toll on his wrist. Logano’s fantasy handicap does not change, but any player who was on the fence about starting him might find this to be a rationale to leave him in the garage.

Aric Almirola lost a left rear tire spun in turn three at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Saturday morning’s practice session and slammed the wall hard. He will be forced into a backup car.

In three short, flat track races this year, his best finish was an eighth at Martinsville and that will be difficult to replicate after starting from the back. The incident was almost identical to Friday's crash that claimed Joey Logano's car
