A Riverside, Calif. native, Josh Wise, says the wide and weathered two-mile Auto Club Speedway puts a lot more racing in the driver's hands than other tracks.

He'll be eager to put on a good show in the No. 35 MDS Transport Ford for family and friends. Sunday's Auto Club 400 will be Wise's second Sprint Cup start at the Fontana, Calif. track. He also has four career starts at the speedway in the Nationwide Series.-Breaking Limits

Kyle Busch posted the fastest single lap in final practice for the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway with a speed of 128.563 mph.

Busch was also fastest in the morning session with a lap 128.865. He was quick over long runs and visually worked traffic well. Busch should be one of fantasy owners favorites.

Kasey Kahne posted the second-quickest time in Bristol practice with a speed of 126.863 mph.

Kahne scraped the wall on Friday, but apparently did not do much damage to his chassis. He is not one of the top drivers who come to mind for fantasy players, so this could make Kahne a great differentiator.
Apr 22 - 11:54 AM

Erik Jones posted the quickest 10-lap average in Saturday morning’s session with a speed of 121.178 mph from his laps 24 through 33.

This is a little surprising because of the challenge this track demonstrates for rookies. Jones is showing a great balance of speed and durability. He starts 14th based on points, which speaks volumes about his ability. Freshmen are risky, but his is worth that risk.

Harrison Burton, who finished seventh in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship points last year, will start on the pole for today's Zombie Auto 125 after the lineup was set according to the rule book (qualifying rained out).

This is the third and final race of the 2017 season for the East in which the lineup is based on 2016 results. Burton, a member of the NASCAR Next class, was third fastest in Friday's only practice session in his No. 12 Dex Imaging Toyota. Sheldon Creed, driving the No. 40 A.M. Ortega/United Rentals Toyota, will start second. Creed was the top Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate in practice in fourth.
Apr 22 - 11:20 AM

Chris Buescher spun early in final practice for the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway and did significant damage to the right rear of his Chevrolet.

Buescher lines up 27th on the grid. He would prefer to fix the damage and keep his starting position, but he has only 12 positions to fall if he needs to roll out a backup.
Apr 22 - 11:10 AM

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular Kyle Larson, driving the No. 42 ENEOS Chevrolet Camaro, won the Coors Light Pole Award for today's NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 with a lap of 127.988 mph.

This is his second pole in 95 NXS races and his first pole and fourth top-10 NXS start in 2017. It is Larson's second pole in eight NXS races at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS). Cup driver Austin Dillon (second) posted his fourth top-10 start of 2017 and his eighth in eight NXS races at BMS. Cole Custer (third), the fastest qualifying Rookie of the Year contender, posted his first top-10 start at BMS. It is his fifth in seven races this season.
Apr 22 - 11:06 AM

Kyle Busch posted the fastest single lap in Saturday morning’s practice session for the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway with a speed of 128.865.

Busch was fast on Friday as well, with the second-fastest single lap and the second-best 10-lap average. He lines up seventh and should be considered one of the favorites to remain in the top 10 all afternoon.
Apr 22 - 9:33 AM

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. spun into the wall midway through Saturday morning’s practice session and did fairly significant damage to his Ford.

Initially the team thought they would need to roll out the backup, but they decided to repair the primary so they will not need to go to the back of the field. Stenhouse will roll off the grid. He lines up 19th based on owner points.
Apr 22 - 9:28 AM

Kyle Larson spun with 10 minutes remaining in the Saturday morning practice session and made slight contact with the wall.

Larson was testing the upper groove and barely stepped over the line. It doesn’t take much of a mistake at Bristol to go into the spin cycle, however. Larson’s damage was cosmetic and he will not need to roll out a backup.
Apr 22 - 9:22 AM

With rain soaking the track earlier on Friday, NASCAR made the decision early to cancel qualification in order to give the drivers more time to practice.

That will put points’ leader Kyle Larson on the pole for the third time this year and the second as the result of rain. He was awarded the top spot at Martinsville and used that advantage to scoot out to an early lead. Mechanical difficulty sent him home 17th, however. When he earned the pole on time at Auto Club one week earlier, he won the 400-mile race.
Apr 21 - 4:05 PM

Erik Jones posted the single fastest lap in practice for the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway with a speed of 127.843 mph.

This Jones’ first official start at Bristol, but he got some laps in relief for an injured Denny Hamlin a couple of years back. He seems to have put that experience to work. Rookies are not typically strong at Bristol, but then again Jones is not a typical rookie.
