Ryan Newman overcame a late-race pit road speeding penalty to finish 10th in the Auto Club 400 on Sunday at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif.

The finish marked Newman’s third top-10 finish in the first five races of the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. His fourth consecutive top-10 finish at the 2-mile oval advanced him three spots in points, to 20th, in the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings.-True Speed Communication

Brendan Gaughan (No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet Camaro) finished ninth in Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) Hisense 4k TV 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC.

He started 17th in the lineup and completed all of the 200 laps run. Gaughan, who entered all 10 NXS races so far this season, is currently 16th in the 2017 driver championship point standings after this event.

Michael Annett (No. 5 Pilot Flying J Chevrolet Camaro) was credited with a 36th place DNF in Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series Hisense 4k TV 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

He started 23rd on the grid and completed 177 laps of the 200 laps run before exiting the race (Accident). Annett, who entered all 10 NXS races so far this season, slipped from sixth to ninth in the 2017 championship standings after this event.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular Ryan Blaney (No. 21 Ford Fusion), driving the No. 12 Snap-On Ford Mustang, won the Hisense 4K TV 300, his fifth victory in 56 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races.

This is his first victory and fifth top-10 NXS finish in 2017. It is his first victory and third top-10 finish in five NXS races at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS). Cup regular Kevin Harvick (second) posted his 18th top-10 finish in 28 NXS races at CMS and his third top-10 NXS finish in 2017. Austin Dillon (third), another Cup regular, posted his sixth top-10 finish in nine NXS races at CMS. Cole Custer (seventh) was the highest finishing Rookie of the Year contender. Elliott Sadler leads the NXS point standings by 6 points over Justin Allgaier.

Kyle Larson posted the fastest single lap in final practice for the Coke 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway with a speed of 186.400 mph.

Larson will have to roll off from the back of the pack because he was unable to clear inspection. He is going to earn a ton of place-differential points on his way to the front of the pack and should be on most fantasy rosters.

Brad Keselowski clipped the wall early in final practice for the Coke 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and spun into the infield grass.

It does not appear that Keselowski did much damage to his car and will probably not need to roll out a backup.

Justin Allgaier won the Coors Light Pole Award for today's Hisense 4K TV 300 with a lap of 182.488 mph.

This is his fifth pole in 217 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races. It is his first pole and fifth top-10 start in 2017 and his first pole in 14 races at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS). Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular Austin Dillon (second) posted his sixth top-10 start of 2017 and his ninth in nine NXS races at CMS. Ryan Blaney (third), another Cup regular, posted his first top-10 start at CMS. It is his fourth in five NXS races this season. Daniel Hemric (fourth) was the fastest qualifying Rookie of the Year contender.

Ross Chastain is going racing in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, and the Delaware Office of Highway Safety will be along for the ride.

Chastain is scheduled to make his debut in the Cup Series in the AAA 400 Drive for Autism June 4 at Dover International Speedway. He also will drive in the June 3 OneMain Financial 200 Xfinity Series race and the June 2 Bar Harbor 200 Camping World Truck Series race. His vehicles in all three events will carry sponsorship from the OHS in support of safe driving. Chastain’s entries will carry the familiar theme of "Protect Your Melon" for the Dover races. Chastain is involved with Florida watermelon growers, so the idea of buckling up and "protecting your melon" fits perfectly.
