Aric Almirola and the No. 43 Smithfield Ford team are looking to make history this weekend at Darlington Raceway with a fifth consecutive top-10 finish.

If the team can finish in the top-10, it will mark the first time that the Petty-owned No. 43 has more than four consecutive top-10 finishes since Richard Petty posted seven consecutive top-10s in 1983. It will also mark the first time Richard Petty Motorsports has posted five consecutive top-10 finishes. Almirola made his Darlington debut last season with the No. 43 team, where he started in the 13th spot and finished 19th.-Breaking Limits

In addition to driving the No. 5 Chevrolet SS in Sunday's Daytona 500 at Daytona Int'l Speedway, Kasey Kahne will pilot the No. 88 Hellmann’s Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) PowerShares QQQ 300 on Saturday afternoon.

In Kahne’s last three NXS starts for JRM at Daytona, he’s earned three top-five finishes: first (July 2014), fourth (July 2015) and third (February 2016). This will be the first of two NXS starts this season for Kahne in the No. 88 Chevrolet. He’ll race again at Talladega. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will also run two events with the No. 88 team in 2017. Scott Radel, director of engineering at JRM, has been tabbed to crew chief all four races for the 88 team this season.-JR Motorsports

This weekend marks rookie William Byron’s NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) debut.

The 19-year-old driver has one previous start at Daytona International Speedway in the Truck Series and one start in the ARCA Series, where he finished second. Crew chief Dave Elenz won this race with Chase Elliott in the No. 88 Chevrolet last year. Byron will carry the Liberty University colors this weekend on the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro, as well as 16 additional races throughout 2017.-JR Motorsports

Justin Allgaier (No. 7 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet Camaro) is coming off an impressive 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) season with 13 top-five and 27 top-10 finishes, earning a career-best average finish of 9.1.

In 12 NXS races at Daytona, the 30-year-old driver has three top-five and six top-10 finishes. Last season, Allgaier had strong performances on restrictor plate tracks, finishing second at Talladega and Daytona (July). In all, he has combined to earn five top-five and 10 top-10 finishes in 18 NXS starts at restrictor plate tracks.-JR Motorsports

Michael Annett joins JR Motorsports (JRM) in 2017, driving the No. 5 Pilot Flying J Chevrolet Camaro in his first return to the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) since 2013.

In 10 NXS starts at Daytona, Annett has one top-five and two top-10 finishes. He owns one win (2008) at the facility in ARCA competition. As JRM’s newest crew chief, Jason Stockert makes his debut atop the pit box for Annett and the No. 5 team. The pair previously worked together in NXS competition in 2011.-JRM

Elliott Sadler (No. 1 OneMain Financial Chevrolet Camaro) enters the 2017 season at Daytona International Speedway Speedway (DIS) after a career-best season earning 29 top-10 finishes and claiming the runner-up position in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) championship.

In 15 NXS starts at DIS, Sadler has earned five top-five finishes, seven top-10 finishes and one pole award, with a best finish of second (July 2015). Last season, Sadler drove to a fourth-place finish in the season opener at Daytona—his first of 14 top-five finishes in 2016.-JR Motorsports

Halmar Friesen Racing with driver Stewart Friesen will make their NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team debut in the NextEra Energy Resources 250 this Friday night at Daytona International Speedway.

Friesen will pilot the No. 52 Chevrolet Silverado in all twenty-three series events. Building on his six starts during the 2016 season, this will be Friesen's first race as driver and co-owner. The 33-year-old Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON native is a standout winner on the dirt tracks of New York State. Korbin Forrister teams up with Wauters Motorsports for the 2017 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season beginning with the season opening NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway Friday, February 24th.

Advanced Medical Laboratories will be the primary sponsor of the No. 5 Toyota Tundra entry at DIS and Atlanta Motor Speedway. Forrister has 29 starts in the NCWTS, including piloting the No. 5 Wauters Motorsports entry at Talladega Superspeedway in October 2016. This will be his second NCWTS start on the famed 2.5-mile Daytona, FL track; his first was in 2015 where he posted a 12th place finish.

NASCAR XFINITY Series regular Ross Chastain will pilot the #66 Rugged Cross Blinds Chevrolet Silverado in the NextEra Energy Resources 250 when the team arrives in Daytona.

Chastain last saw action with Bolen Motorsports on the "High Banks" of Talladega where he finished 15th. The #66 Entry will feature the Rugged Cross blinds brand as well as Realtree’s Xtra camo pattern for the Daytona event.-Bolen Motorsports

When the Camping World Truck Series takes to Daytona International Speedway, there are going to be some trucks fans won’t recognize. One of those will be the No. 83 Chevrolet.

It’s because the truck is owned by a new team, Copp Motorsports, put together by third generation racer and long-time tire changer DJ Copp. Planning to run the full schedule in 2017, the team will debut at Daytona with Todd Peck behind the wheel. Peck has made 20 career Camping World Truck Series starts in his career, scoring a career-best finish of 18th at Phoenix International Raceway in 2012. He made three starts last year with SS Green Light Racing, with a best finish of 21st at Pocono Raceway. Copp was able to put the effort together after acquiring assets from the former Contreras Motorsports team that raced the No. 71 truck in 2016.-popularspeed.com

Noah Gragson will kick off his rookie season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Friday night under the lights at Daytona in the NextEra Energy Resources 250.

This will be his first season at Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM). To prepare for this season, Gragson made two NCWTS starts at the end of 2016 at Phoenix and Homestead-Miami, where he finished 16th and 15th respectively. By completing all the laps, he was able to get a head start on learning the unique characteristics of the truck’s aerodynamics on bigger tracks. Veteran crew chief Marcus Richmond was added to the No. 18 Switch team’s roster in late 2016 to mentor and coach the young driver from atop the pit box.-KBM

Christopher Bell (No. 4 JBL Toyota Tundra) begins his second full-time season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) on Friday night at Daytona.

He put his name on the NASCAR map with a victory on the dirt at famed Eldora Speedway in just his third series start in July of 2015 and earned his first win on pavement last June at Gateway Motorsports Park. That victory at Gateway earned him a spot in the Inaugural Truck Series Chase and his consistent finishes throughout the elimination-style playoff format landed him a spot in the Championship Four at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway. He posted an eighth-place finish in the series finale, earning him third-place in the championship standings. With 30 career Truck starts already under his belt, Bell is hoping to parlay his experience into more wins in 2017. To help him achieve that goal, he will be paired with crew chief, Ryan "Rudy" Fugle this year.-KBM
