Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is the top rookie finisher in the Sprint Cup Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

The No. 17 Ford Fusion driver started 14th and finished 18th. He was named the "Rookie of the Race" since his finish was best of the ROTY contenders in the event. Stenhouse is currently 16th in the 2013 point standings.

Ross Chastain rolls into Daytona International Speedway this week fresh off the best run of his XFINITY Series career.

He finished fourth in last week’s XFINITY race at Iowa Speedway, marking the best run of his young career in NASCAR’s No. 2 series. He hopes the momentum will carry over as the series moves from a short track to one of its biggest for Friday’s Coca-Cola Firecracker 250. Chastain will drive the G&K Services No. 4 Chevy at Daytona. He owns a pair of top-10 finishes in XFINITY races at the 2.5-mile track.-JD Motorsports

Coming off ARCA Racing Series wins at Talladega, Toledo and Michigan, MDM Motorsports is apparently looking for more. That's why a two-car MDM team tested Tuesday at Lucas Oil Raceway Tuesday with drivers Michael Self and Sheldon Creed.

The test was two-fold…get prepared for the Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200 coming Friday, July 21, and get both drivers familiar with the track. Neither has ever raced on the historic short-track on the west side of Indianapolis. n just a handful of ARCA starts, Self has turned in some impressive numbers, finishing a career-best third last year at Kansas, and third most recently at Pocono. In his career-first start at Mobile in 2014 he was running second inside of 15 laps to go before the transmission broke. He was also inside the top-10 at Daytona this year before he got caught up in a multi-car crash.

Kyle Weatherman is set to make his 50th career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start when the Fans With Benefits 150 comes to life at Iowa Speedway Saturday night, July 8.

The Wentzville, Missouri driver is also coming with a championship team, teaming up with Mason Mitchell Motorsports. With or without MMM, Weatherman has been one of the most formidable drivers at Iowa over the years, finishing second to ARCA champion Grant Enfinger in his Iowa debut in 2013. He also finished second at Iowa in 2015. His runner-up run in '15 came with a good bit of drama when the hometown hero Mason Mitchell powered past Weatherman on the final lap to win it. Considering Mitchell hails from nearby W. Des Moines, Iowa, it was one of the most popular wins in the annals of Iowa Speedway history, and certainly one of the most exciting.

Aric Almirola, the driver of the No. 43 Petty Enterprises Ford, who crushed his T5 vertebra in a wreck at Kansas Speedway on May 13, received a positive report from his doctors following a CT scan on Wednesday.

"Good news from the docs," Almirola said in a text. "My CT scan shows really good bone growth in the damaged vertebrae. Doctors were pleased and have cleared me to test in the next two weeks. As long as that goes well and I have no pain, I will be cleared to resume competition." Almirola, 33, hopes to return to competition in time for the Monster Energy Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 16.

In addition to driving his regular No. 39 Chevrolet Camaro in XFINITY Series Coca-Cola Firecracker 250 at Daytona on Friday night, Ryan Sieg will pilot the BK Racing No. 83 Toyota Camry in Saturday night's Cup Series Coke Zero 400.

Sieg is currently 13th in the NXS standings following a career best 2nd place finish at Iowa Speedway. The No. 83 Toyota Camry will be sponsored by Dustless Blasting.-RSS

Earned his first career pole for the most recent race at Memphis, and has posted three consecutive qualifying efforts on the front row heading into Berlin Raceway in Marne, MI. Is the highest-ranking rookie in the K&N Pro Series East after six races.

Has three top-10 finishes in three NASCAR K&N Pro Series East starts this season while running a partial schedule and has finished no worse than sixth in any of his starts. Finished third at Memphis for his second top-five finish in 12 career starts.

Todd Gilliland (No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota) is the reigning NASCAR K&N Pro Series West champion, having scored six wins, 11 top fives and 13 top 10s in 14 races in 2016.

Became the youngest champion in NASCAR touring series history at 16 years, five months, and joined his grandfather Butch Gilliland as a K&N West champion (1997). One of only two drivers to finish in the top 10 in all six races this season, he sits second in the current NASCAR K&N East standings with three top fives and six top 10s through six races.

The No. 98 Fresh Form Florida Ford team looks to return to Victory Lane at Daytona International Speedway with Casey Mears behind the wheel.

Mears will once again fill in for the injured Aric Almirola in Saturday's XFINITY race after subbing at Pocono Raceway. As defending winners of the Daytona Firecracker 250, Biagi DenBeste Racing and Fresh From Florida are looking to repeat their 2016 victory. Mears has experience at the 2.5-mile track with 25 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts. He also has four starts in the XFINITY Series with two of those races resulting in a Top 10. Mears will look to score his first superspeedway win during the July 4th weekend.-Richard Petty Motorsports
