In 10 NASCAR XFINITY Series starts at Daytona International Speedway Brendan Gaughan (No. 62 Chevrolet Camaro) has completed 96.1 percent (1,071 of 1,115) of the laps he has attempted.

He is credited with one top-five and three top-10 finishes, 13 laps led, an 18.8 average starting position and a 19.4 average finishing position. Gaughan returns to Daytona to kick off the 2017 season following a career-best fifth-place finish in July 2016. He also qualified for the Daytona 500 in the No. 75 Chevrolet SS with Beard Motorsports. Gaughan was the quickest of six non-charter teams and drivers attempting to make the Great American Race. Brandon Jones (No. 33 Nexteer Chevrolet Camaro) will be competing at Daytona International Speedway for his third time in the NASCAR XFINITY Series this weekend.

The 20-year-old driver finished seventh at the 2.5-mile track last February. Jones is entering his sophomore season in the XFINITY Series after a stout rookie year, in which he recorded 17 top-11 finishes and qualified for the inaugural XFINITY Series Chase before finishing 10th in the point standings. Daniel Hemric (No. 21 Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff Chevrolet Camaro) will be making his NASCAR XFINITY Series debut at Daytona International Speedway.

The Kannapolis, North Carolina, native has 49 career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) starts, with 15 top-five and 30 top-10 finishes. Hemric has made two NCWTS starts at the 2.5-mile superspeedway, earning an eighth-place finish in 2016.-Richard Childress Racing

Brett Moffitt (No. 7 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra) has eight starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, with one win, three top-five and four top-10 finishes.

This will mark his first start at Daytona International Speedway in the NCWTS. Industry veteran Butch Hylton will lead the No. 7 team as crew chief. Moffitt will pilot chassis number 011 in the NextEra Energy Resources 250. This chassis was used at Daytona and Talladega in 2016.-Red Horse Racing

Timothy Peters (No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota) returns to Daytona International Speedway for the ninth consecutive season, and his 10th-career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at the "World Center of Racing".

One of the Virginian's career highlights came at DIS in 2010, when he captured his second-career victory courtesy of a last-lap pass. As if the anticipation of his inaugural Daytona 500 wasn’t enough for Erik Jones, the driver of Furniture Row Racing’s No. 77 5-hour ENERGY Toyota Camry prepared for the 59th running of the Great American Race by experiencing a completely unique sensation of speed, horsepower, g-forces, and patriotism: a flight with the United States Air Force Thunderbirds.

Jones and fellow NASCAR Cup Series competitor Ryan Blaney took one-hour flights Tuesday in F-16 Flying Falcons from Yelvington Jet Aviation at Daytona Beach International Airport. He flew on Thunderbird No. 8 piloted by Captain Erik Gonsalves, who has logged more than 1,600 flight hours, including more than 500 hours of combat experience. Ryan Reed (No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang) has six starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) at Daytona International Speedway (DIS).

In his six starts he has earned one win, two top-five and three top-10 finishes. In 2015 Reed captured his first NXS Series win in the season-opener at Daytona. He started eighth, led 14 laps and made a last-lap pass for the victory. 2016 Recap: Reed started the 120-lap event from the 11th position, but suffered some damage to the right-rear during a caution early on in the race. The team worked on the car over the course of the race and Reed was able to earn a 16th-place finish.-Roush Fenway Racing

Zane Smith (No. 43 Diamondback Towing Toyota) scored a second place finish in Sunday night's NASCAR K&N Pro Series-East (NKNPSE) season-opening Jet Tools 150 at Florida's New Smyrna Int'l Speedway.

He started 26th in the lineup and completed all laps of the 150-lap event. Smith is currently second in the 2017 NKNPSE point standings after this event, five points behind leader (and race-winner) Ronnie Bassett Jr.

Ben Rhodes' (No. 27 Toyota Tundra) 2017 campaign will be led by crew chief Eddie Troconis, who called the shots for Cameron Hayley in 2016 at ThorSport Racing.

Troconis enters his second full-time season in the series atop the pit box. In his first full-time season, the Mexico native was credited with six top-five and 11 top-10 finishes.
