Chase Briscoe (#77 Big Tine Ford) earned his fifth Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell of the 2016 season Saturday afternoon at Winchester Speedway for Sunday’s Herr’s Potato Chips 200. Just .033 seconds off the one-lap track record set by Ken Schrader two years ago, Briscoe circled the high-banked, half-mile oval in 15.859 seconds, an average speed of 113.500 mph.

The pole gives Briscoe a short track sweep in 2016, having earned poles on all the short tracks to date at Nashville, Salem, Toledo, Madison, and now Winchester. It was nearly a Cunningham Motorsports one-two clean sweep before Venturini Motorsports’ Dalton Sargeant, as the final qualifier, knocked Briscoe’s teammate Will Kimmel off the front row. Josh Williams, the tour’s most recent winner, qualified fourth in the Southwest Florida Cable Construction Chevrolet. Kyle Weatherman qualified fifth Mason Mitchell’s No. 98 St. Charles Glass Chevrolet.

After posting the fastest speed in the first practice earlier today, Chase Briscoe (#77 Big Tine Ford) was fastest again in final practice leading to the ARCA Racing Series Herr’s Potato Chips 200 at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana.

The lap of 112.101 mph was the fastest of the 20 cars out on the track for this session. #55 Dalton Sargeant, #98 Kyle Weatherman, #52 Matt Kurzejewski and #30 Cory Deuser are the rest of the top five and the #00 Chevrolet driver, Wayne Peterson, was the slowest.

With a fast lap of 91.974 mph in the NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet, Sprint Cup driver Chase Elliott will start on the pole later today in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Chevy's Fresh Mex 200 at the Sonoma (CA) Raceway road course.

Elliott has never competed at the Sonoma road course in any series. He is using this race to get the extra experience for Sunday's Sprint Cup Series Toyota/Save Mart 350. No. 9 Ryan Partridge will start along side Elliott on the front row. No. 17 David Mayhew, No. 7 Noah Gragson and No. 16 Todd Gilliland round out the rest of the top-five for this event.
Jun 25 - 3:17 PM

Carl Edwards posted the fastest lap in the final session of qualification. After posting a speed of 95.777 mph, he will lead the field to green on Sunday at Sonoma Raceway for the Toyota / Save Mart 350.

This is Edwards’ first front row start. Previously, he started on the second row in back-to-back race in 2013/2014. He finished top-three in both races; in fact, he won in 2014.
Jun 25 - 3:09 PM

Jimmie Johnson posted a lap that was good enough for only 15th on the Toyota / Save Mart 350 field at Sonoma Raceway. This is the fourth consecutive year that he will start 13th or worse.

Despite modest qualification, Johnson has finished in the top 10 in the past three years. In fact, he has a seven-race, top-10 streak going, but he will have to run an error-free race to keep that intact.
Jun 25 - 3:01 PM

Dale Earnhardt Jr. was fastest in final practice for the Toyota / Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway, but he knew several drivers had faster cars than they showed. As it turned out, 12 cars were faster. Junior qualified 13th with a lap of 95.329 mph.

Even though Earnhardt failed to advance to the final round, this will be his best starting position while racing for Hendrick Motorsports. Two years ago he started 17th and finished third; last year he advanced from 20th to seventh. His previous best starting position was 15th in his first attempt in the No. 88 in 2008.
Jun 25 - 2:56 PM

Jamie McMurray posted the second fastest lap in the first practice session for the Toyota / Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway, but he could not back it up on pole day. His lap of 94.712 mph was good enough for only 21st on the grid.

Many considered McMurray to be one of the favorites to win the pole this week because he did just that in 2013 and 2014. Last year, he started mid-pack in 18th, however, and almost cracked the top 10.
Jun 25 - 2:52 PM

Cody Ware was the slowest of 41 drivers who took time in qualification for the Toyota / Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway and as one of the open teams, he will make the long drive back to North Carolina.

Ware was attempting to make his first NASCAR Cup start, so this is not a huge surprise. If he was your dark horse of choice, make the switch to Dylan Lupton or Cole Whitt.
Jun 25 - 2:46 PM

Daniel Hemric (#19 Draw-Tite Ford F-150) had the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in final NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice at the Gateway Motorsports Park leading up to the Drivin’ for Linemen 200.

The average speed of 132.758 mph was best of the 12 trucks that ran 10 consecutive laps on the track for this session. #8 John Hunter Nemechek, #9 William Byron, #23 Spencer Gallagher and #29 Tyler Reddick are the rest of the top five on this list.
