This is the No. 1 Chevrolet SS driver's ninth pole in 382 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. His last pole, 81 races ago, came at Martinsville Speedway in March 2011. This is his fourth top-10 start in 2013 and his second pole in 11 races at Sonoma Raceway. His previous pole came in 2007.

Hal Martin will be back behind the wheel of the No. 44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry this weekend at Iowa Speedway.

This will be the "Ragin Cajun's" second start at the 7/8-mile asphalt paved tri-oval speedway. American Custom Yachts has partnered with Hal Martin and TriStar Motorsports once again for the 2014 season. The Stuart, Florida-based, operation encompasses a 63-acre marine facility providing a full range of marine services on site, including yacht construction, repair, repowering and refitting.-TriStar Motorsports NC

Brendan Gaughan and the South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet Camaro started the NASCAR Nationwide Series Lilly Diabetes 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the 17th position.

With the threat of a mechanical issue early in the race, crew chief Shane Wilson took advantage of the first caution on lap 15 to bring him in to evaluate the situation. The No. 62 Camaro restarted 31st and Gaughan battled to overcome the early issues throughout the day, working his way up to 14th on lap 46. He finished his day at the Brickyard in 19th-place. He is currently eighth in the driver point standings as the series heads to Iowa Speedway next weekend.-Richard Childress Racing

Brian Scott and the No. 2 Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff Chevrolet Camaro qualified for the Lilly Diabetes 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the 10th position.

Scott battled inside the top-10 for the majority of the 100-lap event at the historic track. On the final restart of the event, Scott was scored in the 11th position and gained four positions when he took the checkered flag finishing seventh. He started the No. 25 Canada's Best Store Fixtures Dodge 8th on the grid for the National 250. On Lap 39, McColm got into the wall exiting Turn 4, sustained right rear and left front damage and was done for the night. McColm is currently 8th in the 2014 Canadian Tire Series championship standings after this event.

Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) left the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and flew directly to the road course in Watkins Glen, New York for a two-day test session for Marcos Ambrose and Aric Almirola beginning today, July 28th.

The goal of the test will be to collect information to help give Ambrose and Almirola the best setup possible before returning in two weeks for the race. If Ambrose can win the event, it will help secure him and Almirola into the championship run at the end of the season. RPM heads to this test this week with Almirola nearly locked into The Chase and giving Ambrose its full efforts to secure his spot too.-Breaking Limits
