Peter Shepherd isn't running for the championship in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1, but that hasn't stopped him from collection winner's trophies.

He picked up his second straight Saturday night in the Clarington 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The victory on the facilities half-mile oval was the second straight for Shepherd, who drove the No. 7 National Exhaust/Diamond Material Handling Dodge. to Victory Lane last week at Delaware Speedway. It's Shepherd's fifth career win in 18 starts over the last four years.

Tony Stewart finished 23rd in the Bad Boy Off Road 300 at New Hampshire and is still looking for his first top-15 of the 2016 Chase.

Tony Stewart came close at Chicagoland with a 16th. In 2005 after qualifying for that Chase he said this team was just taking up a spot better used by someone stronger; he won the championship. This year, he hoped to have the same late-season surge but is only one poor result away from being one of the first four out.

Chris Buescher finished 30th in the Bad Boy Off Road 300 at New Hampshire. He was 28th in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400, which puts him on a pace to have the worst-ever average finish for a Chase contender.

In 2015, Aric Almirola was eliminated after one round in this knockout-style format with an average finish of 25.0. Buescher will need to finish 17th or better in the Citizen Soldier 400 at Dover International Speedway to match or improve on Almirola’s mark.

Joey Logano finished 11th in the Bad Boy Off Road 300 at New Hampshire.

Last year, two disastrous results in the third round of the Chase sent Logano out of the top-10 for the only two times while he was a 2015 Chase contender. Logano’s 11th-place finish might not seem like much of a stumble, but he has not shown much strength in the past several weeks. Use him sparingly.
