Annett has an average finish of 14.8 thus far in 2017 which ranks him fifth among full-time NXS competitors. Denny Hamlin qualified and finished third last year at Auto Club Speedway, but don’t expect that to happen in 2017. His remarkable result was only the second time in 15 attempts that he earned a top-five there.

This is certainly not one of Hamlin’s better tracks and his poor finishes have been compounded by negative place-differential points. He started on the first three rows from 2011 through 2015 and fell back every time. Three of those attempts ended with results of 25th or worse, which was devastating to fantasy rosters.
Mar 21 - 8:52 PM

Jeffrey Earnhardt has made three previous starts on two-mile tracks with three mid-30s finishes as a result.

Earnhardt’s best finish last year on this track type came at Auto Club Speedway. He was 34th after starting 39th. Even with the five place-differential points added to his total, he was not fantasy relevant.
Mar 21 - 8:51 PM

Aric Almirola has finished better than he started in his last seven attempts on two-mile unrestricted, intermediate speedways. The odds are good that he will earn positive place-differential points again this weekend.

One of Almirola’s better advancements came in the 2015 Auto Club 400. He started 23rd in that event and moved up to 11th at the end. He is still seeking his first career top-10 on this course and while that is a longshot for this Sunday, he could be a good value at his salary cap level.
Mar 21 - 8:50 PM

Michael McDowell has a better than average chance of finishing in the high-20s this week at Auto Club Speedway.

McDowell finished 31st in two attempts on two-mile tracks last year, but this team improved radically during the fall after his Pure Michigan 400 run. He is likely to be more than two laps off the pace, but should be able to finish notably better than last year. If he does so, he will have a career-best finish on this track type.
