Andrew Ranger went out on his first lap of qualifying and smashed the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series track record to take the pole position for Sunday's Jiffy Lube 100 presented by Snap-On.

The No. 27 Dodge driver had a lap of 1 minute, 35.938 seconds around the 2.113-mile airport road-course for an average speed of 79.289 mph. It was the 12th career pole -- and first since Aug. 2011 -- for Ranger, tying him with JR Fitzpatrick for the series record. It also broke Alex Tagliani's track mark of 1:36.499 (78.828) set in the inaugural event in 2011.-NASCAR PR

Andy Seuss (No. 11 Ideal Finance/Phoenix Motors Chevrolet) leads the first practice for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Southern National 150 at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, NC.

The 14.650 second lap was the quickest of the 15 cars out on the track for the practice session. No. 5 Kyle Ebersole, No. 65 Danny Bohn, No. 28 George Brunnhoelzl III and No. 1 Burt Myers are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. No. 40 Luke Fleming was the slowest.

Scott Steckly (No. 22 Canadian Tire/Sylvania Dodge) is at the top of the speed chart in the final practice leading to the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Pinty’s 250 at Kawartha Speedway in Fraserville, Ontario.

The 76.306 mph lap was the best of the 22 cars out on the track. No. 76 Jeff Lapcevich, No. 24 James White, No. 18 Alex Tagliani and No. 3 Jason Hathaway are the rest of the top five and No. 13 Trevor Monaghan is the slowest in this final session.

Danica Patrick was the fastest non-Chase contender in the final practice session for the Sylvania 300. Her top speed of 134.944 mph was 9/100ths of a second slower than Jeff Gordon and eighth overall.

Patrick qualified 18th and should be able to move up through the field to finish in the top 15. Scoring top-10s require a balance of speed and strategy and this team has been inconsistent in getting those paired up, but she should be one of the best values in salary cap games and in Yahoo!’s Group C.
Sep 20 - 12:34 PM

Jeff Gordon posted the fastest single lap of final practice for the Sylvania 300. His top speed was 135.357 mph.

With Brad Keselowski winning every session until this point of the weekend, it was important for Gordon and team to send a message that the No. 2 would not go uncontested. Gordon has finished second to Keselowski in the last two races at Chicagoland and Richmond.

Tony Stewart spun out of turn four with 15 seconds remaining in practice for the Sylvania 300. He did not make contact with the wall and was able to drive back to the garage on flat tires.

After posting one of the slowest 10-lap averages in Saturday morning’s session, that is not how he wanted to end the day. He remains questionable as a fantasy pick for Sunday’s race.

Mason Mitchell finished third in Friday night's ARCA Racing Series ZLOOP 150.

The No. 98 Ford driver extended his point lead over Grant Enfinger to 200 points with one race remaining on the season. Enfinger left the race early with engine troubles and finished 30th. Mitchell inched closer to his first career championship with his 11th top five finish of the season. He will go to Kansas Speedway for the ARCA 98.9 on Friday, Oct. 3. "It was a solid night for us," he said. "Early on we raced pretty hard to lead a lap early and get those bonus points. I think we might have been able to go for the win there but we had a bad restart at the end."-ARCA Racing

Brennan Poole spun out in practice, qualified eighth and was stuck behind Venturini Motorsports’ teammate Daniel Suarez late in Friday’s ZLOOP 150.

It seemed unlikely that he would leave Kentucky Speedway with a win, but that’s just what he did, capturing his sixth career victory. "Everything just unfolded for me," a jubilant Poole said. "I love it when that happens. I’m so happy to get to victory lane for Venturini. It feels really, really nice. It’s just so special to win here. I can’t believe we won at Kentucky!" Poole wasn’t expected to race Friday, but when Venturini driver John Wes Townley had a scheduling conflict, he stepped in the seat of the No. 15 Zaxby’s Toyota. The move paid off as Poole led the final 27 laps for the win.

Andrew Ranger (No. 27 Mopar/Exide Dodge) leads the first practice for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Pinty’s 250 at Kawartha Speedway in Fraserville, Ontario.

His 75.356 mph lap was the quickest of the 22 cars out on the track for the first practice session. No. 24 James White, No. 25 Joey McColm, No. 18 Alex Tagliani and No. 3 Jason Hathaway are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. No. 22 Scott Steckly was the slowest.
Sep 20 - 11:55 AM

Greg Biffle spun off turn two at New Hampshire in final practice. He managed to keep his Ford off the wall and sustained minimal damage after going through the grass.

At the time, Biffle was 20th on the chart and undoubtedly looking for additional speed. The team now knows which direction not to take.
Sep 20 - 11:44 AM

Corey Lajoie slapped the wall in final practice for the Sylvania 300 and flattened the right side of his car.

Lajoie is making his first Cup start and lacks experience. He took a provisional to start the race and is simply looking to record track time, which makes him a bad choice as a dark horse.

Cole Custer (No. 00 Haas Automation Chevrolet Silverado) wins the 21 Means 21 pole award for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series UNOH 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

He ran a fast lap of 131.897 mph - a new track record (previous record was held by Kyle Busch, 131.715 mph set on 9/24/2011). This is Custer's second NCWTS career pole in just seven series starts. It is his sixth top-10 start in 2014.
