Besides winning the race, Jimmie Johnson’s team wins two race awards in the Sprint Cup Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

Johnson earned the 3M Lap Leader award (94 of 161 laps). He started the No. 48 Chevrolet SS eighth in the lineup and won the race. Hendrick Engines won the Mahle Clevite Engine Builder of the Race award. Johnson is currently the leader in the 2013 Sprint Cup point standings.

A.J. Fike won his first ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards race Sunday, becoming the 10th driver of the season to pick up their first victory. And, the Galesburg, Ill. native did it in his home state.

Fike actually dominated the SuperChevyStores.com 100 at the mile dirt at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. He led 60 of the 104 laps and had a lead of nearly seven seconds with 10 laps to go. He survived a late restart to win over Kyle Weatherman by 0.759-seconds. Weatherman was second – his third runner-up of the season – in the No. 22 Cunningham Motorsports Dodge. Springfield native Kelly Kovski was third in the No. 16 Billingsley Towing-Hoosier Tire Midwest Chevrolet. Josh Williams and Tom Hessert rounded out the top five.

Justin Allgaier was touted as the top dark horse all week in Rotoworld’s NASCAR coverage and he lived up to expectations. He spent the entire 500 laps in contention to score a top-10 and ultimately finished just outside that mark in 12th for the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Allgaier has now swept the top 20 in four Bristol starts. This season, he finished eighth in the spring and now 12th, which made him one of the best values at his salary cap level. Keep an eye on the No. 51 in a couple of weeks at Richmond, because that track ranks fifth among his best career average finishes.

Ryan Newman finished 10th in the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway and continued to solidify his standing in the standings. He now has a nine-point advantage over Paul Menard and a 63-point lead over the Chase cutoff line.

At least three drivers will qualify for the Chase on points and Newman is well-positioned to be one of them. Last year he had this same type of season and surged during the last 10 races. He ultimately finished second in the championship and was a great earner for his loyal fantasy owners. The past often predicts the future.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. climbed from 20th to ninth in the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway to score his fourth consecutive top-15 in the past four races of this season.

Earnhardt had an up-and-down day at Bristol. He slapped the wall a couple of times during the race and spent only about 27 percent of the event in the top 10 and less than half the race in the top 15. He surged when the points were on the line, however, and scored big for his fantasy owners.

Ryan Partridge turned a dominant performance Saturday night at Colorado National Speedway into his first career NASCAR K&N Pro Series West victory.

The 25-year-old rookie from Rancho Cucamonga, California, won his first Coors Light Pole Award and then went out led all but one lap in the NAPA Auto Parts 150. Partridge's No. 9 Sunrise Ford/Eirbach Springs/Lucas Oil Ford crossed the finish line 1.7 seconds in front of runner-up Blake Williams. The 20-year-old Williams was making his third career start and posted his second top five.
Aug 23 - 12:33 AM

Kyle Busch finished eighth in the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway and extended his lead in the points’ standings over 31st-place Cole Whitt to 44 markers. With two races remaining, that means he is almost one full event to the good and should not have to worry overly about bad finishes at Darlington Raceway or Richmond International Raceway.

In the past two weeks, Busch has been good about taking what the race would give him. He overcame a penalty in the pits and a flat tire at Bristol before charging back into the top 10 late in the race. Busch will most likely begin swinging for the fences once more in the coming races, which will make him a volatile pick in fantasy NASCAR.
Aug 23 - 12:26 AM

Carl Edwards finished seventh at Bristol Motor Speedway in the Irwin Tools Night Race and kept a current streak of top-15s alive. He has finished that well in his last seven attempts.

That momentum will help him advance through the Challenger stage of the Chase for the Championship, but he needs to challenge for wins and top-fives if he wants to get all the way to Homestead-Miami Speedway with a shot at the Cup. Still, he is a great value in games where he is rightly priced.
Aug 23 - 12:14 AM

Brad Keselowski finished sixth in the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol, which was his seventh consecutive top-10 this season.

Keselowski has only two top-fives in that span of races, but he is making up for that slight lack of power with consistency. Fantasy owners will often give up reliability for raw power, which makes the No. 2 an attractive pick.
Aug 23 - 12:03 AM

Clint Bowyer survived contact with teammate David Ragan and a spin to finish fifth in the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Bowyer now has a 35-point cushion over the Chase cut line and is relatively safe in his bid to make the playoffs as long as there is not another unique winner this season. All he can do to control his fate is continue to run well and that makes him a great fantasy value.
Aug 22 - 11:36 PM

Jimmie Johnson failed to finish in the top five on an unrestricted speedway in his last nine starts with his last such finish coming at Pocono Raceway. During his disappointing run, he finished second in the Coke Zero 400 on a plate track, but had an average finish of 14.2 in that span of races.

Johnson typically picks up during the Chase for the Championship; only two regular season races remain before the playoffs and it is getting close to time to place-and-hold the No. 48 in fantasy NASCAR games.
Aug 22 - 11:29 PM

Chris Buescher (No. 60 Roush Performance Products Ford Mustang) finished 11th in Friday night's NASCAR XFINITY Series Food City 300 at Bristol (TN) Motor Speedway.

He started fifth on the grid. He completed all of the 302 laps run, leading 106 laps. He retains his position as the points leader in the 2015 XFINITY Series championship standings after the event, leading Ty Dillon by 19 points. Buescher also won the Mobil 1 Driver of the Race contingency award.
