In Saturday night's Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway, Ryan Newman scored a solid 10th-place finish.

It was his eighth top-10 of the season and his sixth top-10 at Daytona in 24 starts. In the final two-lap sprint to the finish, he picked up nine spots to record the top-10 despite being caught up in the final-lap wreck that caused extensive damage to the Outback Steakhouse Chevrolet. The best part of that finish was that we were able to get a top-10, which means that fans can get a free Bloomin’ Onion at Outback Steakhouse on Monday just by saying my name," Newman said.-True Speed Communication

Daniel Suarez (#19 ARRIS Toyota Camry) had the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in the XFINITY Series final practice for the Hisense 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The average speed of 178.085 mph was best of the 16 cars that ran at least 10 consecutive laps on the track for this final practice session. #18 Denny Hamlin, #2 Austin Dillon, #20 Erik Jones and #42 Kyle Larson are the rest of the top five on this list.

Ty Dillon (#3 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Chevrolet Camaro) tops the speed chart in the Final Practice session for the XFINITY Series Hisense 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

He ran a fast lap of 181.342 mph. #19 Daniel Suarez, #20 Erik Jones, #2 Austin Dillon and #48 Brennan Poole round out the top-five of the 40 cars out on the track. The #74 Dodge driven by Mike Harmon was the slowest in the final practice session.

Joey Logano posted the fastest time in the first two rounds of Thursday’s qualification, but slipped to second in the final round that determined the pole. He will line up to the outside of Martin Truex Jr. for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Logano was stellar in both qualifications last year with an outside pole in this race and a third-place start in the fall. He won the fall race, but slipped to 13th at the end of the Coke 600.
May 26 - 8:26 PM

Martin Truex Jr. recorded a lap of 192.328 mph to edge Joey Logano’s 192.007. Truex will lead the field to green on Sunday.

Truex dominated earlier this season at Texas Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway before late-race mistakes sent him home with only a modest result. He was one of the best fantasy values in those games, however.

Kurt Busch will roll off the grid 13th in the Coke 600 after failing to advance to the final 12 in the second round of qualification. His lap of 190.114 mph was nearly 0.012 seconds slower than Chase Elliott.

Busch has a current streak of six top-10s, so it seems likely that he will add a few place-differential points to his finishing total.
May 26 - 7:59 PM

Matt Kenseth was one of several notable drivers who failed to advance to the final round of qualification. His time was only good enough to 27th on the starting grid.

Kenseth has some momentum on his side with a Dover International Speedway victory last week. The good news is that he should earn positive place-differential points in games that offer them.
May 26 - 7:46 PM

Dale Earnhardt Jr. failed to advance to the second round of qualification and will roll off the grid 25th for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600.

This is the first time in nine races in which Earnhardt has failed to crack the top 25 in qualification, but his strong starts have not ended in strong finishes very often. He has only one top-10 finish in the past six attempts.
May 26 - 7:40 PM

Daniel Suarez (#19 ARRIS Toyota Camry) had the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in the first practice for the XFINITY Series Hisense 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

His average of 175.708 mph was best of the three cars that ran at least 10 consecutive laps on the track for this session. #2 Austin Dillon (173.709 mph) and #16 Ryan Reed (172.642 mph) are the others on this list.
May 26 - 5:05 PM

Erik Jones (#20 GameStop Toyota Camry) led the first practice session for the XFINITY Series Hisense 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The lap of 181.159 mph was the best of the 40 cars completing laps in this session. #18 Denny Hamlin, #12 Ryan Blaney, #19 Daniel Suarez and #3 Ty Dillon are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. Spencer Gallagher in the #21 Chevrolet Camaro was the slowest.
May 26 - 5:03 PM

Kurt Busch posted the fastest single lap in the first practice for the Coke 600 with a speed of 192.843 mph. That makes him one of the favorites to win this week’s pole. Qualification will be held Thursday night.

Even though the race is 600 miles, track position early makes a difference. More importantly, the pole winner gets the coveted first pit stall, which often makes a difference on the final stop of the evening.
May 26 - 3:31 PM

Saturday’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway will mark Cole Custer’s second NASCAR XFINITY Series start, but first behind the wheel of the No. 88 Chevrolet.

He has one previous start at the 1.5-mile oval in the Camping World Truck Series, where he finished 13th. In his NXS debut last month in Richmond, Custer finished a notable sixth. This season, he’ll make a total of five NXS starts for the team.-JR Motorsports
