While Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford team currently find themselves outside the cutoff point for the Chase for the Championship, no one is hitting the panic button.

In 2012, Keselowski posted an average finishing position of 7.8 at the eight tracks that remain on the schedule until the Chase begins. In 2011, his average finishing spot was 8.6 over those same races. In the 2010 fall race weekend at Loudon, Keselowski scored his first Sprint Cup pole award with a then-track record run of 28.515 seconds.-Penske Racing

Denny Hamlin posted a lap of 160.121 mph in the final minute of the third round of qualification to grab the pole for the FedEx 400 ad Dover International Speedway.

Hamlin won back-to-back poles once before in his career on this track. He finished eighth in fall 2012, but crashed the following spring to finish 34th. The No. 11 has been uneven so far in 2015 and continues to represent significant risk to fantasy owners in spite of his pole.

Sprint Cup regular Austin Dillon tops the speed chart in the Final Practice session for the XFINITY Series Buckle Up 200 at Dover International Speedway.

The No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Camaro driver ran a fast lap of 154.261 mph. No. 62 Brendan Gaughan, No. 18 Daniel Suarez, No. 6 Darrell Wallace Jr. and No. 20 Matt Kenseth round out the top-five of the 38 cars out on the track. The No. 70 Chevrolet driven by Derrike Cope was the slowest in the final practice session.
May 29 - 3:41 PM

Ryan Blaney won the Keystone Light Pole Award for the Lucas Oil 200 with a lap of 22.718 seconds, 158.465 mph.

This is the No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150 driver's fifth pole in 54 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races. It is his first pole and first top-10 start in 2015. This is Blaney's first pole in three NCWTS races at Dover International Speedway.
May 29 - 3:23 PM

Jimmie Johnson posted the fastest single lap in Dover’s first practice session. His top speed was 163.867 mph.

The last time Johnson won a pole at Dover was in the 2010 AAA 400; he won that event. He also started first the following spring by NASCAR’s rule book and he finished ninth.

Someone needs to convince Ryan Newman that it is fall at Dover. He has finished eighth in each of the last AAA 400s.

Newman has been much stronger in the fall than spring. His last two FedEx 400s ended in the 30s. With recent momentum on his side this season, he should be able to reverse his personal trend.
May 29 - 12:03 PM

Sam Hornish Jr. will attempt to get reacquainted with Dover International Speedway this week. His last Cup start on this track came in 2012 and his last attempt in an XFINITY car was in 2013.

Hornish’s most recent Cup effort ended in a 25th; his best result came in the XFINITY series in 2013 with a seventh. His finishing result this week is uncertain, but there is one statistic that is reliable: Hornish will finish worse than he qualifies. In 12 starts in both series, he has never improved during a race.
May 29 - 12:02 PM

JJ Yeley will race for his fourth different owner in four Dover International Speedway races when he starts this Sunday’s FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks. His best result in that span was a 34th for Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR).

His 34th in the No. 36 was the fourth consecutive race he made at Dover for TBR, which suggests he benefited from the chemistry the team built. He is in another fulltime ride this week, and should be able to finish in the mid-30s again.
May 29 - 11:58 AM

Jimmie Johnson has appealed his P1 penalty for taking too many passes through the inspection line in the past two weekends. The penalty would have caused him to make one of the last two selections for a pit stall, which would insure that he had one of the worst pits in the field.

Dover International Speedway has one of the most treacherous pit roads and this would have been a distinct disadvantage. By appealing, the team can defer the penalty to next week at Pocono where pit selection is not as critical.

Mason Mitchell, the 2014 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards champion, will make his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut this Saturday in the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 at the quarter-mile Bowman Gray Stadium.

Mitchell will team with Hattori Racing Enterprises (HRE) to drive the No. 1 Toyoda Gosei Toyota. The 20-year-old will be reunited with veteran crew chief Jamie Jones. Jones and Mitchell have worked together in the past, most recently last year at Mason Mitchell Motorsports during Mitchell’s championship run.

The lap of 158.033 mph in the No. 3 WESCO Chevrolet Camaro was best of the 40 cars out on the track for this session. No. 54 Erik Jones, No. 2 Brian Scott, No. 88 Kasey Kahne and No. 33 Austin Dillon are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. Mike Harmon in the No. 74 Dodge was the slowest.
May 29 - 11:37 AM

Road-course racing veteran Justin Marks will be behind the wheel of the No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro for two NASCAR XFINITY Series events this season.

He will compete for HScott Motorsports with Chip Ganassi at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio on Aug. 16 and Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisc. on Aug. 29. He has competed in many forms of road-course racing as well as in all three of NASCAR’s national series. He was also part of the winning team in the 2009 Rolex 24 At Daytona in the GT division of the TUDOR United Sports Car Championship. An accomplished entrepreneur, Marks is the owner of The Drylake Group, a sports and entertainment development company, GoPro Motorplex and KartSport North America. In 2014, Marks partnered with NSCS driver Kyle Larson to form Larson Marks Racing, a World of Outlaws sprint car team. In 2015, Marks teamed up with HSMCG owner Harry Scott Jr. to form HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks, fielding five cars in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.-HScott Motorsports
